Excellent location, this property has everything you need for a lovely stay. It is big and the layout ensures you are not on top of each other. It requires a bit of tlc in places but this does not affect your stay. Thanks for a lovely break. The showers are great with brilliant water pressure. Beds really comfortable. Plenty of cooking equipment.

The location was perfect. However the views in the listing were inaccurate. We could not see the ocean from the back seating area as the hedge was overgrown. The table was not in great shape. Inside the beanbags provided in the living room were filthy as were the curtains and they were also ripped. The bathrooms were dimly lit and only 2 bedrooms had any hanging space. We still had a great family holiday, but the overall feeling of the property was tired and worn. Some TLC would go a long way.

Had an amazing weekend at the lovely Beach Cottage. Stunning views, great location and the property had literally everything you could need. There were 10 of us and our dog for the weekend and the house still felt huge, lots of room for everyone. Immaculate bedding and towels, fully stocked kitchen utensils, pans, bbq etc. lovely walk down the coastal path to the amazing Porthtowan beach, local supermarkets only a short drive. 100% returning for another break when we can.

This was our second visit, it's a great space for a large group, clean, tidy and comfortable with plenty of bathrooms. The views are spectacular, but it would be great if the hedge was cut so you can see the views from the living room and terrace.

The property was clean and spacious. Large bedrooms with storage and good quality linen. All the bathrooms are well fitted and easily operated. The large terrace was a good space for the family to sit together and the dining room was great for the family to eat together around the large table. Heating etc was easy to operate on the colder nights. The beach can be reached by walking but it's a challenging walk. It's a quiet area which is perfect for watching the sunset and star gazing. This property was good value for what we paid.

The house has good potential, but unfortunately it feels like it is in need of some updating and maintenance. The mattress had visible stains, which was unpleasant and disappointing. The shower in the en suite was leaking, and the sink was cracked. I reported these issues to the host, but unfortunately they were not acknowledged. The decking also needs some attention, including updating and a fresh coat of paint. The hedges around the decking area are quite overgrown, making it difficult to properly appreciate what would otherwise be a lovely view.Overall, the property could be much more enjoyable with some general maintenance, cleaning and updating. The walk to the beach is not as straightforward as described it is challenging for younger kids or elderly people.

We had a fantastic stay at this property and only wish we could have stayed longer. The house was spotlessly clean, and the views of the sea from multiple rooms were incredible. It's conveniently close to the beach and all the restaurants and shops down there. The kitchen was fully stocked and was the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea overlooking the sea.Our favorite feature was the network of trails right behind the house, leading down to the beach and out along the cliffs. They're a bit tight and lined with brambles in places, so we'd recommend wearing pants (although my kids didn't heed that advice). They were a real highlight. We also loved exploring the rocks and hidden pools down by the beach that you can only get to at low tide. For meals, we can enjoyed both The Unicorn and the Beach Cafe Porthtowan, both of which were great.A wonderful place in a wonderful location. We'd return in a heartbeat!

Excellent house, spacious and we kitting out for our multi generational group. Excellently equipped kitchen, bedding all fresh, quality and smelt lovely. We loved the location for the coastal path and surfing below the house at Porthtowan. Only point to make is the hedge really needs a good cutting back as can not see the sea and beach/great view from the decking/outside seating area which is a great shame as it’s such a super location. Excellent host, very helpful and speedy responses. Thank you

So glad you had a great stay at Beach Cottage. Apologies about the hedge, we had our regular trim planned for February (before the nesting curfew from March to September), unfortunately major storms hit the region in February and all suitable contractors were pulled into emergency work. The hedge will be trimmed later in 2026 when we are lawfully allowed to do so.

Very nice views and walks I would recommend this place if you want a base to do everything from. It is clearly being refurbished but its liveable beds are ok but some new mattresses are needed. The decking out side needs sorting out please don’t lean on the hand rail. The place is pet friendly but the garden is not secure so be careful when letting your dog-dogs out. When the place is finished being refurbished and some new furniture and fixings it we’ll be a top place. One last thing the parking is tricky and turning round the road is a unadapted road so it’s bumpy and narrow there is parking for 3 cars at a squeeze you can get 4 cars parked.

On our arrival we found the property was not fit to be occupied. It was undergoing re-decoration. It was a late booking and owner had not been advised of our booking. We were left struggling to find somewhere to stay for the at 4:30pm on a Friday night!

We are a family with Cornish roots who love Porthtowan. We bought the Beach Cottage for the stunning views over the beach and coastline beyond. We furnished the house to a high standard with 1 to 2 families in mind, so you can have a relaxing holiday in Cornwall.

Why they chose this property

Porthtowan is a hidden gem. One of only 10 Blue Flag beaches in Cornwall with lifeguards during the season. There are two pubs and two cafes close to the beach. You may not want to leave Porthtowan, the good news is that the village is 8 minutes from the A30 so a great base to explore Cornwalls attractions.

The BBC including Porthtowan in an article about “10 beautiful places to visit in the UK” though still very much a “hidden gem”

https://www.bbc.co.uk/webarchive/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fblogs%2Fnatureuk%2Fentries%2F700099b8-d90e-4c5c-b139-ee113a0f0ff1

What makes this property unique

We are located on the end of a small group of houses with a stunning view of Porthtowan beach and the North Cornwall coast down to St Ives
