About this property

Olympic Wanderer Creekside Hot-tub Olympic Peninsula Nature Retreat

Welcome to Olympic Wanderer! This charming rustic creekside PNW cabin will blow you away with its stellar location, lush grounds, hot tub, and fire pit. The cabin is nestled in a private forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away.

Think of this cabin as a private creekside glamping retreat but with all the amenities and conveniences of a cabin! Check out the brand new gorgeous farmhouse kitchen and living space added May 2023. The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are slowly renovating it over time. You will find plenty of imperfections, but also loads of charm. While the space is a work in progress, we don’t feel that the current state retracts from its functionality. We would like our guests to book this property because of the gorgeous location, outdoor amenities, and campground-like/cabin the woods vibe, while still having all the indoor amenities of a regular vacation rental cabin. Please keep this in mind when considering booking and have realistic expectations. Upon entering, you will first come into the sun room which contains a desk and work space. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We aalso have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. There is WIFI but due to the property’s rural location, satellite Internet is the only service available and streaming is not an option unfortunately. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. As for the second floor, you will need to climb the staircase, which is steep and narrow. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! On the other side from the 2nd bedroom on the upper floor is the kids corner(no door so it’s technically. It not another bedroom), which has 2 matching twin beds, some fun forest animal wall decor, and an art easel. The kids corner is separated from the bedroom by the barn door, but does not have a privacy door separating it from the stairwell. At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to the deck, which features the hot tub, bbq and an outdoor dining table.

Please read the “things to note section”
Before booking.

Please note that as stated in the description, the cabin is older and rustic and we have been and will be slowly be renovating it over time. You will find imperfections, but nothing that would affects functionality. If you are looking for a high end or new luxury place to stay, this might not be the right place for you. If you are looking for an outdoor haven and charm and character, then it’s a great match!
The stairs are positioned in such a way that it’s a steep narrow opening to get into the first bedroom and the living room. While we don’t think it’s an inconvenience, it should be considered when deciding to book. Just watch your head!

Some phone carriers will have very limited service at the property as well.
Due to the heavily trees area and the unpredictable weather in Washington, we often have brief power outages. The power is usually restored within an hour. Often people ask where the breaker box is during an outage. Please note that if the power is out, it is an area wide outage that county PUD will be working as quickly as possible to repair and restore the power. There is no need to do anything with the breaker box in this event. Due to country outages being outside of our control, discounts or refunds will not be given unless the outage causes a safety concern that results in needing to cancel the reservation.

IMPORTANT:
We just had a brand new septic system installed that was a lengthy and expensive process. Part of the system is located on the grass lawn to the left of the driveway when pulling in. There are large rocks located in the area to deter anyone from driving over the system and destroying it. We have a very long driveway, 2 carports, as well as a second driveway for guest parking so there should never be a need to drive across the yard and destroy both the lawn and septic system. Please do not under any circumstance drive on this area. Park only in the driveways, carports, or on the street, thank you!
Indoor propane fireplace is currently not in service.
Please note there will be a late check out fee of $50 for guests are not checked out on time without prior approval and go over the 15 minute grace period.
Additionally, please remember that the cleaning fee is paid in full to the cleaner which covers cleaning the house, laundering and preparing for the next guest. It does not include cleaning up garbage, washing excessive amounts of dishes, or other excessive cleaning. If the cleaning company charges extra for excessive mess, this cost will be passed to the guest.
