The Arcadian Cabin at Bishop Branch Creek

Constructed in the summer of 2017, Arcadian Cabin’s location in the Driftless Area of Southwestern Wisconsin manifests a true park-like atmosphere. Both Crystal Creek and Bishop Branch Creek, are located steps off of the covered deck. The property (3+ acres) boasts a yard perfect for campfires (firewood provided), stargazing, lawn games, or just lounging and relaxing. Additionally, 58 acres of public land adjacent to the property is available for hiking, fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, bird watching, and other outdoor activities - no need to drive, these activities are all accessible on-site as soon as you walk out the front door.

At the end of the day, the 16’x28’ cabin which boasts an 18-foot tall ceiling in the main room will welcome you and up to five additional guests (sleeps six). The two bedrooms, bathroom, full kitchen, electric heat, bathtub and shower, electric appliances, Satellite TV, WiFi, a storage shed for your use, and many other features will make your stay enjoyable and stress-free.

The location of The Arcadian is ideal for any traveler’s needs. Viroqua, the county seat of Vernon County, is less than 5 miles away and has numerous shops, festivals, a challenging golf course, and high-quality restaurants available. In addition to the public land out the front door, the Kickapoo Valley Reserve is less than 10 minutes away - providing canoeing, hiking, hunting, fishing, and numerous other outdoor activities and well over 8,000 acres to roam.

We added a storage shed to the property where you can lock up some of your gear and dry out your waders. There are also yards games, the charcoal grill, a gas grill, and other items in the storage shed for your use.

Award-winning restaurants, Wonderstate Coffee, several wineries (Vernon Vineyards, Branches Winery), movie theater, seasonal farmer's market, minutes from Organic Valley and Go Macro headquarters, antique and specialty shops, and The Historic Temple Theatre are just a few of the local attractions just minutes from The Arcadian. The Mississippi River is 30 minutes away and larger towns like La Crosse and Madison are both easily accessible by State Highway 14.

Absolutely lovely cabin with the gorgeous views and lots of privacy. It was delightful to sip warm morning coffee on the porch and watch the fog move through the valley. We really enjoyed the large yard during the day and the bonfire pit at night. It was quite a treat to listen to the owls while star gazing. Jake and Becky were truly wonderful, gracious hosts. Thanks again for everything you did to make my family feel comfortable and at home. We will be back!

Great base to enjoy nature, quiet surroundings, and easy access to the Viroqua vicinity. Barred Owls called multiple evenings and mornings. Great deck to hang out on with coffee and binoculars. Cabin was clean and cozy with all the cooking supplies one would need for meals. (also, good tasting water from the tap)

Great Fishing Location

This was a beautiful cabin and a great location for fishing the Driftless. Cabin was spotless and comfortable. We’ve stayed in many different VRBOs the last 4 years in and around Viroqua and the Arcadian was by far our favorite.

Fishing paradise

Arcadian cabin is smack in the middle of Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, surrounding by incredible fly fishing in all directions, including a small trout stream right in front of the house. Jake and Becky were communicative and easy hosts. Would recommend.

Beautiful Secluded Getaway

The Arcadian exceeded our expectations! The location is beautiful. Our family loved playing in the beautiful creek, and walking the trail on the property. It’s located close to town, where there are great shops. Highly recommended!

A very pleasant place to stay a night (or two)!

We stayed here for the weekend and really enjoyed the cabin as well as the area! The Driftless is beautiful and was a much needed oasis of enjoyment in a busy time of life for us. The cabin was clean and comfortable, with all the basics and some of the extras you need to have a great stay. Check in was simple and check out too...made the whole process simple and didn't get in the way of experience in the leasst. It really was a beautiful setting and we sat out and watched the stars on our final evening. (We just missed the northern lights :( ) We would stay here again for sure!

Great weekend get-away!

We enjoyed our long weekend at the Arcadian Cabin! Our kids loved playing in the outdoor space, going into town for gelato and playing the cabin's board games. The loft may be challenging for younger kids, but our school age kids said it felt like a tree house. The gate at the top gave us peace of mind.

Wonderful Trout Fishing HQ

A great place for staging a fly fishing trip in the Driftless region. A great property with all the needed amenities. A quick drive from downtown Viroqua. We had one of our best days fishing on the Bishop Creek by the cabin. The owners are great and easy to communicate with. Highly recommended.

Winter Wonderland at the Arcadian

This was my second stay at the Arcadian. It was just as pleasant and relaxing as my first. Winter as opposed to late Spring, but the Arcadian was just as comfortable, conveniently and practically supplied and furnished with all the amenities an individual, couple or small family may need. Warm and cozy inside while it was cold and snowy outside.Winter adds a whole new perspective and beauty to the Driftless region. The Arcadian Cabin is situated in the perfect location to experience that beauty: a nice large clearing, surrounded by wooded hills and nestled alongside two small creeks.I'm hoping for more pleasant stays at the Arcadian in the future.

Beautiful location in the Driftless Area of SW Wisconsin

Arcadia was clean upon arrival, and the hosts left us stuff to make s'mores. We biked every day we were there, and it was so nice to come back to the cabin for a nice dinner and wine. We had a camp fire every night too! I sure hope we can come back. Thanks!

A home away from home

Everything was very well maintained and clean. The property was beautiful. It had all the amenities we needed for a short weekend stay. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure that you write down the information for getting into the house when you arrive as cell service is very minimal in that area. We were unfortunately unable to log into the app to get the information for the door code and had to drive back into town to gain access to a network. It did get a little chilly in the evening so we did have to reach out to the owners to explain to us how to get the furnace on. They were very easy to get in touch with and quickly solved our problem. Overall it was a nice day and I would recommend it for a fall getaway. The colors are beautiful and there's so many things to do outdoors. We travel into the small town for dinner and the food was exceptional. We did the farmers market on Sat morning and also another positive experience. Enjoy your stay, we sure did. Thank you.

We loved our stay at the Acadian Cabin. The setting is serene and tranquil. The cabin is inviting, comfortable and cozy. The porch is in added bonus and we spent much time in the chairs enjoying the view. The creek was delightful. The cabin had everything we needed. We'd highly recommend this property.

This vrbo was perfect for our needs. We were there to flyfish so being able to store our gear in the shed was great, and the location to Viroqua and the trout streams was perfect. They provided everything we needed and more - a grill, fire ring and wood, outdoor chairs and tables for enjoying meals in the perfect weather, a full kitchen with all the appliances and dishes we needed, etc. The bed was comfortable and it was nice not having to climb a ladder to get to the main bedroom. The whole cabin is cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the walking trail and wildflowers on the property. We used the tv once and enjoyed making one of the puzzles they had there. They have beautiful handmade quilts for the cooler nights. It was clean, and correspondence was clear and timely. We loved this place!

We (Jake and Becky) have deep roots in the Driftless Area, growing up just minutes from Viroqua. In 2013 we decided to return to the area and raise our 3 children. We both work in education, Jake as a science teacher and Becky as a teacher/interventionist. Our passion for the outdoors, great food, and culture made the choice to move here an easy one. We are so glad to share one of our favorite places with you.

What makes this property unique

There are many VRBO properties in the Driftless area but we feel that ours has an incredible location that feels like a park while being 5 minutes to the town of Viroqua. Bordered by public land and on a Class A trout stream, the Arcadian is that much more inviting. Location, location!
