Unfortunately, our stay was far from what we expected based on the listing explanation. The property was not clean upon arrival—there was a noticeable smell of smoke, the furniture was soiled, floors were dirty and several other areas looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned. It made it difficult to feel comfortable enough to stay and ultimately we decided against it.Communication with the host was also disappointing. We raised our concerns early on, but the response lacked care and it felt like we were putting him out. Talking to him on the phone It felt more like my concerns were being dismissed, than helped. He had to prove himself right and it didn’t matter our circumstances and what we paid. In this situation I have faith that people will do the right thing, but not this owner. it’s disappointing that flexibility and fairness weren’t extended in this case. I believe doing the right thing sometimes means going beyond policy. We’ve stayed at many vacation rentals and rarely leave negative reviews, but in this case, future guests deserve to be aware. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously and improves both the condition of the property and their approach to guest care. I would definitely not recommend Chris or his properties.
