About this property

Tranquility View - Off Grid Cabin & Sauna

With your closest neighbor 3 miles down the valley, find refuge from the modern world amidst giant cedars, expansive views of Eldorado glacier, and murmuring sounds of Cascade River. This airy Scandinavian-style mountain home is well appointed with a lovely Japanese-tile bathroom, Casper queen mattress, wood burning stove, marble kitchen, & fast WiFi. All immediately adjacent to North Cascades National Park in a narrow, misty mountain valley.

This beloved getaway is under new ownership, but it remains the same cozy retreat that past guests have enjoyed. We look forward to hosting you!

Perched on a South-facing mountain in the narrow Cascade River valley, this home gets lovely light and sits on 5 acres. Access is via a paved, well-maintained road which allows all car types to visit. It is the nearest cabin to the Cascade Pass trailhead.

The home interior is coated in maple panels. The main sitting room has large windows that open to views of the glaciers and orchard. There is a Rais wood-burning stove and detailed directions on how to build a fire. Most of the heat in the cooler months is made by the woodstove; plenty of wood is available. A split heater also provides heat in the winter and cooling in the summer. A walnut live-edge desk with 2 chairs provides a lovely place to write, work, read, and eat while overlooking the valley. A custom wrap-around sofa provides ample sitting room (it is 8 feet on each side) and about the size of a twin bed for sleeping should more than 2 guests be staying.

The kitchen has marble countertops and a Kohler sink. There is a fridge, freezer, and gas stove/oven. There is also a Breville countertop oven that is fast, excellent, and easy. Sharp knives and cutting boards, pots and pans, silverware and plates, a French press and kettle, and all the kitchen accoutrement available for use.

The Japanese-tiled bathroom has a lovely shower head with high pressure hot water and is stocked with bath products.

A large outdoor deck provides the perfect vantage to take in the giant maples, firs, cedars, and alders, and to enjoy the quiet and solitude of the narrow valley. Two Adirondack chairs and a large cedar bench offer a great way to look up at the evening sky or to take a nap in the afternoon sunshine.

The sauna is perched above with a view of the large glacier and is the perfect spot to restore after a long day of hiking or relaxing. The wood burning stove gets the sauna heated in about 30 minutes. Stroll around and pick apples, blueberries, blackberries, and plums from one of the 70+ fruit trees on the property. Enjoy taking your tea on the deck with our outdoor wrought iron table and chairs with seating for four.

It has an amazing view and great location to hikes, but the cabin itself and the amenities do not justify the price point.

This was our second time to stay here and it did not disappoint yet again. The surrounding area is so beautiful and serene and convenient for hiking. The house is well stocked and very clean and they are very quick to communicate. We absolutely loved it.
