Lovely propery. Very clean and well equipped. Olga responded immediately to our questions. 5 minites or less to downtown Hermann, which was our destination. Highly recommend - we were very happy with our stay!

Host was very responsive to questions regarding check in. Property was clean with plenty of towels and blankets. Beds were comfortable. Full kitchen was nice. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
Olga’s property is so cute! We couldn’t get over how nice it was when we first got there. It’s a quick drive into town and the area itself is very quiet. We did hear a lot of noise from the other units, so ear plugs are recommended if you’re a light sleeper. Other than that, we had no complaints.

Thank you, Sarah! We’re so glad you loved the suite and easy hop to town. Fall is our liveliest season with Oktoberfest, weddings, and cyclists, and we keep Vornado fans on hand for white noise. We’d love to host you again—winter and spring stays are especially peaceful.

The place was CLEAN! We loved that! We also enjoyed not having to take trash out or wash coffee cups. Little extra perks are nice Our only complaint is we couldn’t mess with the temperature of the thermostat and got hot at night. It made it difficult to sleep well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Thank you, Corina, for your kind words about the cleanliness and little extras—we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay! I’m truly sorry to hear about the thermostat inconvenience. Since our building is a registered historic landmark, some systems are centralized, but I am always just a text away and happy to help guests adjust things during their visit. We truly appreciate you being such wonderful guests and hope to welcome you back again!
Horrific stay. The drunk, next nights guests barged in with the code at 2am and tried to kick us out. They had updated information from the host where we had not received any information ahead of time. Not worth the safety compromise.
Hi! We’re sisters, Monica and Olga — California-born but small-town at heart.
We fell in love with Missouri’s wine country and the charm of the Katy Trail years ago, and we’ve been building this dream ever since.
The Mercantile on the Katy Trail is our way of sharing it: a welcoming, thoughtfully restored space where travelers, families, cyclists, and wine lovers can slow down, settle in, and enjoy the rhythm of this special corner of Missouri.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with McKittrick because it feels like Missouri’s best-kept secret — a quiet little town with history, grit, and direct access to the Katy Trail.
It’s peaceful but not isolated, with beautiful views, friendly neighbors, and a location that’s just a 4 minutes from the heart of Hermann.
Being right on the trail makes it a cyclist’s dream, and we loved the idea of restoring a historic mercantile building that was once a hub for the community.
Now, it’s a place for travelers to reconnect, recharge, and experience the Katy Trail and wine country at their own pace.
What makes this property unique
The Katy Suite is unlike anything else on the Katy Trail — a modernized suite inside a former 1897 mercantile and music hall, now transformed into a warm, stylish retreat.
Original soaring ceiling brings the past to life, while updated amenities like a full kitchen, smart TV, and clawfoot tub offer all the comfort of a boutique stay.
Guests love the history, the character, and the peace. Step outside and you're on the Katy Trail at Mile Marker 100.8 — no driving needed. Whether you're cycling in, prepping for a wedding, exploring Missouri wine country, or just escaping the city, this suite blends location, charm, and comfort in a way that truly stands out.
Add in the Hermann trolley and Lyft U Up pickup, Casey's pizza delivery, and access to outdoor patio seating for grill and fire pit. The walkable small-town feel of McKittrick right off the trailhead, and you’ve got a place that’s both practical and unforgettable.
