Welcome to Walden! A place that combines the beauty of the natural world with the warmth of a modern cabin. Located on 50 acres along the historic Shenandoah River, Walden offers one of the most spectacular retreats in the valley.

Utterly beautiful location.

Had so many plans for things to do in the area. Did none of them. Just took in the scenery from the porch and by the river. Well worth it.

Five years of staying at Walden and it is amazing every single time. Privacy, beautiful landscape, perfect cabin with all the amenities and the wonderful hot tub makes for a perfect get away. We can’t wait to go back!

fourth return to Walden

I first stayed at the Walden cabin in December 2020, and it was just magical in the snow. I returned in 2021, 2022 and now in 2023. I like the chill and quiet of December for each trip. My dog and I love our thrice-daily walks to the river, and the hot tub is so relaxing before bed, breathing in the 35 degree air while poaching in the 100 degree water. And the millions of stars to be seen, far from the city lights. The cabin is just perfect for me. Spotlessly clean and nicely laid out. The kitchen could use a few more Corningware-type casseroles for heating up leftovers, though. Derek was immediately responsive when I had trouble negotiating the TV settings or with a few other questions, as he has been in the past. Looking forward to hopefully returning in December 2024!

Lovely cabin in a great location. Clean and bright. Very quiet. Easy walk to the river. Have stayed here multiple times. Always feel like I am on a private retreat.

Walden was built in 2013 and designed to conform with its environment by bringing the outside world into the cabin. Inside you will see sweeping views across the fields where you can observe wildlife from every window.

Walden was completed in February 2013. This deluxe one bedroom cabin offers all the modern amenities set in a unique private setting on the Shenandoah River.

What makes this property unique

Walden is located on the historic Shenandoah River bordering 50 acres of beautiful open land. Wildlife abounds on the property. A mowed path takes you to the river where you will find a firepit, chairs and easy access to the water. Wade into the Shenandoah and cast a line for some of the best small mouth bass fishing on the east coast.
