Having lived in Santa Barbara I for over three decades (I moved from Cambridge, UK), I have now decided to be a new VRBO host. A recently retired university professor, who also makes independent documentaries, I am traveling far more than ever before. Because of that, I want to share my comfortable home with those who wish to enjoy the pleasures of Southern California and visit Santa Barbara for a vacation.
Why they chose this property
My home is in San Roque - it is easily the best neighborhood in Santa Barbara! - within easy walking distance to parks, shops, restaurants and the only independent bookstore in Santa Barbara. Picnics and hiking are especially enjoyable in the immediate area. Getting to the downtown Granada and Arlington theaters is a 7 minute drive, the beach is also a 7 minute drive, with wineries being only 35 minutes away. The neighborhood is perfect if you have small children (our children grew up in this area), and just as good if you are a group of adults seeking a relaxing getaway.
What makes this property unique
My home has a friendly and relaxing vibe. The front and back yards have fruit trees (white nectarine, mango, guava, Meyer lemon, plum, mulberry), many old fashioned rose bushes, and a perfect-for-croquet lawn at the back. The large deck that adjoins the back lawn ensures you can eat al fresco, and easily BBQ much of the fresh summer bounty that is readily available here. The outdoor side seating area allows you to relax with friends and family, and the 65" smart TV in the living room offers many movies and TV shows that can be streamed. There are many board games in the house - so you can enjoy days of laughter and fun!
