Lovely home very close to the beach in a lovely little town. We really enjoyed our stay here. Everything was clean and comfortable. We were here for the Ironman race and the location couldn't be better. We would definitely stay here again.

James, Thank you for your kind words. We try to meet our guests' expectations and we're glad we achieved that with your stay.
You are more than welcome to come back to Serendipity House, we agree Frankfort is a special place.
Best,
Sarah
Great location! We were there for the Ironman Triathlon and the location was perfect, it was so nice just to walk back to our unit. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen, while tiny, was well stocked. We would definitely stay here again!
Perfect location for us. Close walk to beach or shopping. Nice 1890s home

A great family vacation one week before starting schooll
My family loves Lake Michigan and to be able to be only a few steps from the beach and enjoy the water & beautiful sunsets was awesome. The guest house was comfortable and very cozy and my family thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Thank you Marilyn, we enjoyed having you and welcome you and your family to stay the next time you visit Frankfort!
You can't beat the location - 2 blocks from one of the best beaches in Michigan to the west and just one block to the charming downtown area in the other direction. And just a short drive to Sleeping Bear, Traverse City, Leelanua, and other area attractions.
However, it's a little misleading to advertise the Sandune Suite for 6-8 people. Yes, it's possible for 6-8 people to sleep here. But don't expect there to be enough room for everyone to be comfortable during the day. The kitchen is too small for 2 adults to be in the room at the same time. And the living area does not have enough room for more than 4 people to sit.
It was comfortable enough for just the 2 of us, especially since we didn't need to kitchen for more than making coffee and toast in the mornings.

Thanks for your comments Pat. We appreciate you letting us know your thoughts . We agree that our location is ideal and our house, built in the 1890’s, is perfectly situated. With more than 1,150 square feet the Sandune is our largest with five rooms. It’s perfect for families with small children and we have many return guests who enjoy the separate bedrooms and full kitchen. As for seating in the living room, we have additional chairs throughout the suite for guests to use in the living room. Thanks again for booking with us, we hope you’ll visit us again!
Best location for everything! No need to drive anywhere after you arrive. You can't find a better spot. The Sandune is cute and cozy but was a bit tight living space for 6 adults. We would still return though because we loved our overall experience.

A perfect, welcoming location for vacation. It was comfortable and cozy base for a week of adventure and fun. Loved visiting with fellow guests on the big, breezy porch, morning swims at the beach, biking trails, hiking and shopping just steps from the door. I’ll be back, Serendipity House!

Amy,
You hit the mail on the head! Sounds like you enjoyed all that Frankfort & Serendipity House have to offer. Thank you for visiting and we look forward to your return!
This was a great house and AMAZING location for our family of 5. Sarah (owner) was super responsive and very helpful. I’d love to stay here again in the future.
The only thing we’d like to see improved would be some more kitchen utensils. There were the basics, but a few more tools would have made cooking a little easier.

Thank you for your nice comments. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay at Serendipity House and appreciate the information about the utensils in the kitchen. We will be sure to review our inventory and purchase additional utensils as needed. Thanks again and we look forward to your return!
The only things that would have been nice to have that we didn't have is a working radio / stereo and air conditioning in the living room

Thanks for your review. We checked out the stereo and found that it works but we will add instructions so that folks know how to operate it. I know it can be tricky sometimes. As far as the air conditioner goes we have one in each bedroom but we will install one in the living room window for next season.
Thanks again and we look forward to your return to Serendipity House!
Loved the location; a 2 minute walk to the beach AND to downtown. We made multiple trips back and forth between going to the beach and eating, then walking back to earth the sunset.
We stayed at the Sandune upstairs. The condo itself is cozy. Unfortunately, it rained all day the one full day we were there. Cable entertained us for so long and we got a little restless. A suggestion would be a collection of board games or playing cards as finding something for the kids to do downtown were limited.
Towels are well stocked in the bathroom. We didn't use the kitchen.
Overall, if we're came back to Frankfort, we would definitely seek out Serendipity House again.
I have been going to Frankfort since 1968. First single, then with my husband and children and now with my children and grandchildren. Trust me when I tell you, I have stayed EVERYWHERE!! This year we stayed at Serenity House. I booked on line and was promptly greeting and given instructions for the months to come. I knew months in advance when my final payment would be due, how to obtain keys, etc.. Most places in Frankfort demand an exact 7 day stay. We did not have seven days and they worked with us! I had two concerns before arriving....with two small children, would be disturb others in the other apartments? Where would we find parking on Main Street with the most popular beach less than two blocks away? Upon arrival, we quickly learned there is very convenient parking in the back of the house! Our suite slept 8. There is a small kitchen that served all of our needs. Two bedrooms...One with a queen bed and the other....two queens and a single. The living room is adequate, as one quickly learns there is so much to do, you sure don't sit in front of the TV!! It is not ultra modern, nor should it be. It is like renting a vacation cottage! We met other families on the porch and were very surprised many of them also had small children in their units, yet we never heard a word!!It was the perfect space for us. Not only are you incredibly close to the beach, you are within walking distance of everything! The front porch is an added bonus. Sit with coffee in the morning and watch the boats entering the harbor, or sit in the evening with a glass of wine and people watch. It's great! There are parks, restaurants, bars, tons of shopping and activities for every age. What a great area and great place to stay. I can't believe we overlooked this gem for so long! We will most certainly return!!

Great Stay!
We loved staying at Serenity Place for Memorial Day weekend! The family bedroom was very spacious and worked great for parents and kids! Our in-laws enjoyed their roomy room on the other end of the unit. If you love to read, there are plenty of books to pick from and the house is in such a great location! We walked to the pier, park & ice cream multiple times! We enjoyed the backyard picnic area and porch swing too!
There are so many fun things to do in this area, I highly recommend visiting this town and staying at serenity place!

About the host
Hosted by Sarah McCallum
My family has a long history of innkeeping. My grandmother, Nancy Bannister, owned the Sunset Valley Resort Motel and 13 waterfront cottages on M-22 in Arcadia in the 1960's. Our family has been enjoying Benzie County for years and we'd love to share our experiences with you and help you create your own memories.
Why they chose this property
My father Tim Bannister purchased Serendipity House in 2007 and lovingly restored the c.1890 historical home. He often referred to the house as a "she" and after painting, fixing or planting flowers on the porch he could be heard to exclaim in a campy sailor's voice "she's looking good yar!"
What makes this property unique
Close to everything! One block from the sparkling waters and sandy beach of Lake Michigan and one block from downtown.
