Rustic Adirondack Home on French Pond w/Sandy Beach, Direct Snowmobile & ATV

French Pond has a private, sandy beach area which is wonderful for swimming. The cabin is situated upon 5 acres of beautiful Adirondack Park wooded land surrounded by 13,000 acres of state land in the Western Adirondack Mountains. The West Branch of the Oswegatchie River is only 100 yards from the front door. Near the cabin are numerous ponds - French Pond, Long Pond, Round Pond, Rock Pond, Trout Pond, Clear Pond and Mud Pond which are all from 100 yards away to within two miles! A trail head for Jake's Pond can be found at the end of Long Pond Road only about 3 miles away. There are maps at the cabin for your use to personalize your own Adirondack Adventure!

Snowmobiling (or ATV-ing) from the front door with plenty of trailer parking. The cabin is located on Long Pond Road Trail with Lewis County C8 and C5 trails less than one mile down the road. All beautiful trails to anywhere in the state. An amazing 30 mile ride southeast to Stillwater Reservoir then Old Forge; north to Harrisville and Star Lake; or up into the Five Ponds wilderness that is due east on Long Pond Road. We have made Camp convenient for winter occupancy with a furnace and an optional wood stove to keep you warm. You can ride all day and come home to sit by a warm fire.

French Pond Camp was custom built by a local, master cabinet maker. Camp is two levels with an extra large, covered screened front porch leading the way to a beautiful very spacious custom kitchen with a gorgeous cherry floor dining room, two full bathrooms, laundry area, cozy-scenic living room and one bedroom completes the first level. A custom log staircase takes you to the second level with three bedrooms.

No matter what the season, every day is beautiful. The summer sun off the waters, winter all in white or the fall with its intense colors. The cabin is surrounded by huge white pines, hemlock woods and maple hardwoods for color and fragrance. The cabin is approximately fourteen miles from the Village of Croghan and right around the corner from The Buckhorn Bar & Grill.

A canoe, rowboat and kayaks are available for your enjoyment on French Pond. Plus, Camp has a wonderful sandy beach which is perfect for swimming. Enjoy a campfire by the pond at night.

We own an adjoining additional 2 acres lot with a 3 bedroom cabin (Listing#7938000) directly next to the house (60 feet apart) and a 2 bedroom cabin (Listing#3565930). These are separate properties but the cabins are close to each and do share the beach amenities.

The place was very accommodating. There are lots of things to do ranging from the kayaks/canoe. The dock and beach was amazing especially at night. The locals up there were very nice and informative, made our trip even better by showing us around.

Terrific place!

This is the perfect spot to unwind & spend time with family and friends. Also a great place for a hound - lots of places to walk and things to see. Kitchen is huge and had everything we needed for cooking, baking, and serving. Hosts are wonderful to work with. Awesome that the cleaning fee is waived if you clean up after yourself!

Vacation in the Adirondacks

Wonderful vacation in the Adirondacks western area. Erin and Dave are great hosts, responsive and quick to answer questions etc. Loved the large screened in porch and access to private beach / pond. So clean no water shoes needed! This was a family vacation and plenty of room to spread out as we also rented their other VRBO cabin.

Family Weekend Getaway

This property did not dissapoint and was perfect for our family getaway. We rented both properties side by side. The screened in porch and covered firepit area were great for our rainy day and the private beach was perfect on sunny day. The owners, Dave and Erin were wonderful to work with. Very responsive to every question I had and provided us with eveything we needed. We would definitly stay here again.

Peaceful!

Our hosts were so nice. The house if big enough for a family and we loved the screened in porch. It's very clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The pond was wonderful. We brought our grandchildren,13 and 15. Since there's no outlet the pond was calm and safe for the kids ( and adults) who had never kayaked before to explore. We had a great time and will go back again.

Check in was smooth. Kitchen was clean. Large table in dining area was wonderful for 6 of us. Screened in front porch was nice but overlooked the other cabins fire pit and grill area. A couple of things that I couldn’t tell from the photos, living room in sunken with 2 steps down and bedroom on the first floor was a step down into the room. Not ideal for a dog or someone with mobility issues, especially at night. Beach was amazing! Nice walk to the water. We brought our own kayaks/canoe and glad we did as the other 2 cabins share the ones at the property. Pond was private and all four grandkids were comfortable kayaking in it. Proximity to the other two cabins would make this a great place for a group of friends or family get together. Would be great to have updated photos of the outside areas on the listing.

Awesome Cabin, Very Affordable, Great Owners and Location

Everything about this house is perfect from how spacious it is to the very reasonable price and location. We picked this house (very glad we did!) because we wanted to be in the Adirondack Park on ATV trails. We loved that we could walk out the door to hike and ride. We really loved The Buckhorn Bar and Grill just around the corner. The entire family enjoyed walking to lunch and dinner a couple of times (great food!). We plan to be back for snowmobiling. The house is right on trails and truly does have plenty of off-street parking which is hard to find. The owners are very friendly and it is obvious they care about their guests.

WE ARRIVED ON A THURSDAY AT 4 EASY PARKING AND ENTERING THE CAMP. BIG OPEN KITCHEN AND ISLAND PLENTY OF POTS PANS PLATES ETC. ROOMS CLEAN AND COMFY WISH THERE WERE SOME TWIN BEDS. GUYS DONT LIKE TO SLEEP TOGETHER.TRAIL SYSTEM 1000 FT DOWN THE ROAD. GREAT HOSTS AND THE BUCKHORN INN WAS AWESOME.

Fantastic stay

Our group of fishermen had a great time at Long Pond Rd cabin. This camp is amazing with huge space, well equipped, and water access. We used it as a base to fish several lakes and rivers in the area. Best of all were the hosts, Erin and Dave. Always accessible and happily helping on all our inquiries. Lightning had knock out the stove when we arrived, BAM, a replacement was in place before we even downloaded our gear. They have an excellent bank of knowledge of the area from finding fishing spots to trail heads and they saved us a lot of time scouting things out. We can imagine how fun this house is in the hunting season and the sled season too.

Wonderful Spot for a Family Vacation

We brought our entire family. This included my husband & myself, our oldest daughter & her husband, our youngest daughter & her fiance, and our teenage granddaughter & her best friend -- to spend 9 days/8 nights at French Pond. The spacious kitchen makes it easy to cook for a large group. The large dining table that we could all fit around for meals and evening game time was a huge plus. Lots of space to spread out. The kayaks, row boat, sandy beach, and docks were a hit with the teenagers. Having a washer and dryer made it easy to keep beach and bath towels clean and fresh for each day. Very appreciative that the hosts allowed us to bring our dogs (Thank you!). The produce and baked items from Goode's were amazing - and you have to venture out to try the bologna from Eddie's Meat Market. A storm knocked out the wifi/internet towards the end of our stay - but, we didn't mind. We would rent again. Thank you Erin & Dave.

Nice stay!

We stayed for a week. My sister and her family rented one of the neighboring rentals. Very quiet, peaceful area. The home is not directly on the water. It is a short walk behind the home which is perfect if you have many kids. The pond is beautiful with a swimming raft, multiple kayaks, canoe and rowboat. There is a little dock also. The house is large. Great for a big group. It is a true Adirondack home. It was clean. My only small comment would be trash pick up was not very clear, but we left it out and it was gone the next day! The owners were very nice. They also own a restaurant that is within walking distance. If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle and touristy parts of the Adirondacks, this is a great option. Plenty of parking and there are two neighboring rentals if you’re coming with a group. Thousands of acres of state land are there also. Half hour drive to most anything.

Less than idyllic

We love the location and the private pond. However, the smell emanating from the living room carpet meant most of us simply could not enjoy that space (the kids didn't mind). Additionally, this year there was a definite "mousy" smell in the kitchen/dining area. There was a significant amount of evidence of mice in the cabinets with the dishes, on the counter, and even the dining table in the mornings. We kept our food in plastic tubs/unaccessible to rodents. It is understandable, because it is the woods, but these buggers were brazen. There were plugin things meant to drive them away, but they were clearly not working. Rainy weather meant a number of roof leaks. The owner was responsive when we communicated. We did not bother to complain about the carpet because we had already let her know last year that it was our one concern about the property. She assured us that carpet was going to be replaced with laminate. We booked for this year and were sorely disappointed when we walked in and were met with the same odor of urine and damp (90% sure it is people pee and not dog pee). Additionally, last year one of my kids discovered toenails behind an end table when playing hide and seek on our last day there. I vacuumed them up on our first day this year. That living room needs a deep clean!

Awesome location and hosts

The house is very spacious, with a large kitchen that is outfitted with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The beds were comfortable, but you need to bring your own linens. The hosts, Erin and Dave, are very accommodating, and even brought us a wheelbarrow so we could gather wood for a campfire. The pond and beach are very beautiful and remote - you've basically got the place to yourselves! There are a few nice hikes in the area, and Old Forge is only an hour away. This place has everything!

French Pond Perferction

This was exactly the quiet vacation spot we were looking for. French Pond was clean, calm, and serene. The kids enjoyed swimming and kayaking. The floating dock was a pleasant surprise! The screened porch was lovely. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped with everything you might need. A truly lovely vacation spot for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
