Cleaning crew didn’t show up till 2:39, 21 one minutes before our reservation. The trash can had loaded diapers, and the host was not clear/consistent with communication or instructions.Anxiety and traveling are not good bedfellows. If you are low maintenance, this is for you. But not for me.

On that day, we were working within a very tight cleaning schedule, which unfortunately caused the later start time. We understand how stressful this must have been, especially while traveling, and we regret that our communication and instructions did not feel clear or consistent.
Your experience is not the standard we aim to provide, and your feedback has been shared with our cleaning and operations teams to help prevent this in the future. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, even though we’re sorry it wasn’t the right fit for you.
Overall, the stay was pleasant, but there were a few issues. The check-in process was challenging due to a lack of clear information. Additionally, the shortage of towels and absence of Wi-Fi proved to be inconvenient.
I would NOT book with this host. We reserved this apartment the day before our stay. The host reached out asking what time we planned to arrive. I responded that we weren't sure of our arrival time, but we would shoot for 3:00pm (the listed check in time).Around 3:15pm the day of our stay, I reached out to the host to let her know we were about 30 min away and I hadn't received the door code. About 15 min later, I received a phone call from a man asking for more information for our stay - that the property management needed to know our occupations. (I had already provided our names and ages, where we were from, and reason for our stay.) I gave him this information.After waiting around until about 4:00pm, I received a message from the host that she was cancelling our reservation due to a leak. We were left in Chicago with nowhere to stay and were forced to spend the next couple of hours looking for a place. It is very difficult to find a last minute place to stay in Chicago for a party of 6. We ended up driving 45 minutes to a hotel and our evening plans were ruined.The conduct of this host was unacceptable. If there really was a leak, why didn't they discover it at 11:00 when the previous renters checked out and the cleaners showed up? Why did they stall for an hour after check-in and then cancel? My guess is that they don't have adequate cleaning help and rather than taking down listings they can't fill, they'd rather leave people stranded.

Unfortunately, the unit experienced a maintenance issue on the day of your arrival, and per Vrbo policy we were required to cancel rather than allow guests to check in to an unsafe or non-functional space. We understand how stressful this was, especially for a group of six on short notice, and we regret that it impacted your evening.
Please know that we do not cancel reservations lightly. We always aim to resolve issues before check-in, but in this case, the leak was discovered after the prior guests checked out and required immediate attention. We followed up with the building management right away, which is why additional questions were asked during the process.
We understand how this experience came across and will continue to improve communication so that guests are updated as quickly as possible if an unexpected issue arises.
