About this property

Mountain View 5-bdrm house in Black Mountain on over 4 acres, 3 minutes to town

Discover your own private oasis at this newly renovated 1964 original Black Mountain home on Miami Mountain, affectionately named Bearfoot Hideaway. Luxury meets tranquility on 4.2 acres that back up to 100s more undeveloped land, yet only 3 minutes from town. Nestled in a secluded spot, this home offers 360 degree mountain views in the winter, with a sunset view and clear view of Craggy Mountain year round, perfect for those seeking a peaceful escape with the comforts of home. Curated by avid hikers, art lovers and animal enthusiasts, the home offers everything you need to feel like a local resident.

Relax and unwind by one of the 2 gas fireplaces, or curl up with a great book in the Zen room in the basement. Whether you are in need of some quiet time, indulging in a movie night, or gathering around for board games or a jigsaw puzzle, there's always something to do and see. The thoughtful design ensures every space invites relaxation, privacy and comfort. Even the art and some furniture in the home is from local artists, designed to bring the outdoors in and immerse you in Black Mountain culture.

The gourmet kitchen has everything you may need to cook a huge meal. Stocked by true cooks, the new stainless appliances and marble countertops afford plenty of space to prep for a delicious dinner or prepare light snacks before heading out onto the deck or patio. From here, take in the expansive mountain and valley views, or light up the fire pit for a cozy night under the stars.

Step out the front door to enjoy coffee and watch the sunrise through the trees, or take a few steps beyond the yard to explore the woods and trails. We recommend always carrying bear spray and placing a bear bell (provided on entrance table) on your furry pets. Nature is literally at your doorstep, with easy access to all Black Mountain, Asheville and the surrounding towns have to offer.

The home's design offers a relaxing vibe, encouraging you to kick off your shoes and go barefoot. Upon opening the door you are greeted with the views of the mountains. Hang your coat up in the closet, and get your pets organized with provided bowls and hooks for leashes. Dog treats and bear bells await on the entry table. Cruise through to the wide open gourmet kitchen with plenty of room to unpack your supplies (and if you forgot anything, Ingles is minutes away!). Enjoy a large meal with a dining table with seating for 8, or hang on the large deck with adirondeck chairs and enjoy the changing views of the mountains. Grill away on the gas & charcoal grill, and afterwards plop down on the world's most comfortable sofa, stream a movie on the 55' smart tv and enjoy the gas fireplace.

3 bedrooms are down the main level hall. The master to the end of the hall on the left provides a queen bed with on suite bath. On the other side of the hall is a large bedroom with a king (dog crate in closet if needed) and another with 2 twin beds. These rooms share the large hall bathroom with tub/shower combo.

Head down the stone lined stairs to the basement level, where you will find another den with 42" smart tv, gas fireplace and dedicated workspace. The laundry room is tucked away off the den. Around the corner from the workspace is a large marble tiled shower and bathroom, shared by 2 bedrooms each with their own tv's: 1 king and 1 queen. Right outside of the bedrooms is the Zen room, a space to read, do puzzles or just get away from everyone.

Inside the manual to the home you will find directions on everything you could possibly need to have an excellent vacation. Owned by avid hikers, the manual includes some favorites hikes for all level hikers, as well as favorite spots for that post hike drink! We encourage you to dive deep into all Black Mountain has to offer, from amazing art, shops, pottery, distilleries, breweries and amazing restaurants. And of course, Asheville is just minutes away!

About the host

Hosted by Lindsay Robertson

Host profile image
Originally from KY, then to VA/NJ/FL and now 26 yrs in NC on Lake Norman. We enjoy anything outside, in nature. Avid hikers, we have explored all over the WNC as I trained to summit Mt. Rainier with my son in ‘23. I love introducing people to Black Mtn and all it has to offer to everyone, whether you love nature or not! We also love art and the entire Art, brewery scene in the area. We are never bored!!!

Why they chose this property

Our neighborhood is super chill. People stay to themselves, but totally have each other’s backs when we need each other. I love the long drive up our driveway and the fact that civilization feels miles away, yet I could run to a neighbor if I had an emergency. The wildlife never ceases to amaze me, from the deer that love the hostas to the bears that love anything they can get their claws on! My dogs love smelling all the smells and running freely around the property, completely exhausted every night. The changing views of the mountains are fascinating and grounding to me. Every season the view changes, as well as the lighting. Winter is actually my favorite time at the house, as the light is amazing and the views are 360.

What makes this property unique

This home was built in 1964 and has an original bunker behind the garage we are trying to decide what to do with. I adore the property and that I can walk out my front door and walk for a long time through the woods with my dogs and not see a soul. I can then come home, and in 2 minutes grab something at Ingles and come home to cook it up and watch the sunset.
