About this property

Stay in a Real Silo • Cozy Loft + Electric Fireplace + Full Bath Near Boise

Sleep inside a real converted grain silo on our small Idaho farm. This one-of-a-kind studio features a lofted bedroom with a queen bed, a full bathroom, and a downstairs kitchenette complete with a well-stocked coffee bar for slow mornings or late arrivals.

The loft is accessed by a compact, semi-spiral staircase — it’s steep but charming, a feature many guests love. If you have difficulty with stairs or prefer open tread steps, this may not be the best fit.

Dimmable circular lighting at the ceiling adds a soft, ambient glow to both levels, creating a warm and restful atmosphere. Open the original grain hatch upstairs to let in fresh air and take in the sky.

Quiet, private, and uniquely designed for couples or solo travelers looking for something just a little different — all just 20 minutes from downtown Boise.

Such a cool unique place! It was exactly what we wanted/needed as we passed thru Idaho for a one night stay. Highly recommend it. We also had dinner at Fork in Boise which I recommend.

Unique lodging that is very fun. Only caveat is that stairs could be very challenging if mobility is an issue. We definitely recommend this if stopping in the Boise area.

Our stay in the Silo was wonderful. We met the owner and had a nice chat with him. And, of course, the ever-present host, Bandit, was always there to greet us with a happy tail-wag.

About 20 minutes from downtown a unique resting place after a long day of travel. Immaculate and stocked above expectation. Appreciated the snacks and extremely comfortable bed and the fireplace was cozy bonus. Shower was much larger than photo looked so very tall husband had plenty of space. Great directions and easy check in and out.

We were visiting family that lived near by. Saw the silo on VRBO, so glad we booked it. Clean, had all the necessary amenities. Host was quick to response to any questions. Would stay there again and recommend it to others.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi, I’m a lifelong (give or take 4 years) Kuna local who loves Idaho’s open skies, quiet mornings, and the simple joy of sharing this place with others. My family and I spend as much time as we can outdoors—hiking, hunting, or just watching the sun set over a park.

I’ve been hosting for over 10 years, and it’s a privilege to welcome guests to Windmill Farm. Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or reconnect, I hope you feel right at home.

What makes this property unique

This land has been in our family since 1995. Back then, it was a working farm surrounded by open fields. We grew up in the old farmhouse that once stood here — it’s gone now, replaced by the home my my parents rewarded themselves with after retirement.

Today, the fields are mostly gone too, replaced by new neighborhoods all around us. But we’ve held onto this little patch of land and reimagined it as a place for people instead of animals. The Barnhouse, the Silo, and the rest of the farm are now quiet, comfortable stays — rooted in the past, but made for today.

Hosting here is our way of keeping the spirit of the farm alive.
