Carlos is very welcoming and accommodating. The house fit the 3 of us perfectly. It included all the kitchen utensils needed to make our Thanksgiving holiday a warm event. We would rent again and hope to return!
Really enjoyed the location to walk into town. The home was very comfortable and quiet with a nice yard. It was also a great base to see a lot of the redwood parks and drive the scenic beach routes. The host was lovely. Wouldn’t change a thing.
Our stay was all we could have expected.Well equipped with everything you would need. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great just a short walk into the town. Thanks Carlos we hope to be back soon.
Our second time staying here and everything was as expected. Carlos is a great host and the house is super cozy.

We appreciate your kind words. Besides being a comfortable house for families or friends, the location makes it easy to tour the town of Ferndale, or the California redwood coast. Thank you for your visit.
House is clean, quiet, with a big yard and a creek. Marilyn and Carlos were friendly hosts, and I loved their dog. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

The house is great for all ages - convenient, comfortable, secluded yet close to town. But it is special for small children, lots of room to romp around outside, a playset, a little natural history experience too, and it has easy access to the redwoods, ocean and rivers. I am very glad these guests found us.
The property was beautiful with nature right in your backyard. Super quiet and a short walk to downtown. Plenty of space for family to stay and a quick jump off point for local sights to see. My stayed in Ferndale was to visit with my sister who lives locally.

Thank you very much for your kind review of our Francis Street Vacation Home in Ferndale. Aside from taking good care of the house we all try to provide a beautiful garden setting by the creek since after all it also is something we enjoy from our next door house backyard. Here is to your next visit!!
What a peaceful and beautiful stay. Carlos was an amazing host and we enjoyed sitting one evening with him and his sweet dog, Chica. You can't go wrong choosing this place.
The house is great, very roomy, clean, and comfortable. The owners are great, and the location is a perfect spot to explore Humboldt County from. Space for our dog to play and stretch his legs in the yard was a huge bonus! I'd stay again, and highly recommend it!

Angie and her friends were very thoughtful guests. They even brought some lovely spring weather. We would be delighted to have them again, and are glad that they enjoyed their stay.
This is a great house in a cute neighborhood. House was well-equipped and the town's mainstreet is a very short walk away. Several nice restaurants and shops are just a few minutes up the street. Would definitely stay here again. The owner's were very easy to work with- loved our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Marilyn Benemann
We, Carlos and Marilyn Benemann, by mistake took the right turn off Highway 101 across Fernbridge 36 years ago, and have been in love with Ferndale ever since. We own a two-story Craftsman house, built in 1912, right across the yard from your Francis Street Home. We owned antiquarian bookstores in Ferndale and Eureka for 25 years, until Marilyn retired. Carlos continues his career as a California court certified Spanish and German interpreter. We love talking with our guests about books, foreign travel, horses and the good life in Humboldt County. Francis Street Home was built as a retirement dream home for Carlos’ parents. We now want to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
WELCOME ! To a quiet, comfortable, redwood Craftsman style home, on a landscaped half acre. Bordered by Francis Creek, just a block from the city park and downtown stores and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
As you cross Fernbridge from Hwy 101 and drive through the bucolic scenery, feel the stress from your daily hustle slip away. Drive past the beautifully preserved Victorian buildings on both side of Main Street, Ferndale, which becomes Francis Street after Ocean Street.1 and 1/2 blocks to a long driveway on the left. Turn up the driveway at 176 Francis Street. You have arrived. Francis Street Home is your home away from home and downtown and the restaurants on Main Street are only a block away.
