About this property
Walk or Snorkel To 6 Beaches & The Baths
On land littered with elephantine boulders, rustling palm trees, and glorious gardens, Crosswinds Villa is a fully furnished, two bedroom classic Caribbean bungalow just a four-minute walk from the beach at Spring Bay. Simply relax and enjoy the views of Sir Francis Drake Channel from the 1,000 Sq. foot deck, or bathe in the turquoise water along the white sand beaches of Spring Bay, Spring Bay National Park, Little Trunk Bay, Valley Trunk Bay, The Baths and Devil's Bay.....all within walking or snorkeling distance.
The 1,000 Sq. ft. deck is Caribbean living at its best. Partially covered, affording lots of sun and shade places, the west-facing deck is furnished with living room furniture, dining table for 6-10, a large gas grill, chaise lounges, rocking chairs and a spacious hammock. It is all surrounded by potted plants, lush gardens, coconut palm trees, panoramic views, spectacular sunsets, and privacy
Specifically built across the prevailing tradewinds, Crosswinds Villa enjoys natural air conditioning regulated by ample louvered windows on all sides of the house. The cathedral ceilings add to an especially airy feeling. The center of the 1,600 square foot villa is an open living/kitchen/dining area, while two of the en-suite bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the house. A 14' opening to the 1,000 square foot deck pleasantly blurs the lines between inside and outside.
The two bedrooms have screened, louvered windows on 3 sides, allowing these rooms to take full advantage of the Caribbean Tradewinds, rustling palms and balmy nights. Each has its own bathroom with oversize shower, as well as plenty of closet and shelf space. One bedroom has a large table and chair for those not able to leave the laptop at home. The other bedroom has a chair and ottoman for those who can! The tiled bathrooms are difficult to photograph without knocking a wall down but both are of an appropriate size, have modern fixtures and most important, are as clean as a whistle.
A word about your deposit....While we require a non refundable 50% deposit upon reservation, the deposit would surely and gladly be returned if we are able to rent the same time you must give up. As with everything else concerning Crosswinds, we do our best to meet the needs and satisfaction of our guests.

The House was perfect. Everything was better than we expected. Furnishings were so nice. The grounds were amazing. The beach was an even shorter walk than anticipated. 10 out of 10!!!

Thank you so much. You all seemed to make the most of our lovely island. We would be pleased to welcome you back when you need to refresh your memories Be well.
If you are looking for a quiet or romantic getaway that has access to beautiful beaches, good weather then this would be an amazing place. The views are spectacular and the owners were extremely kind and helpful in making it a very memorable and wonderful experience. It is very unique in many ways but just a wonderful place to relax in the sun and enjoy the beautiful pristine beaches. If you are looking for a lot of shopping, golf courses or crazy nightlife, this would not be the place for you. But it is a wonderful place to relax and for a family to enjoy good family time also.

Thanks so much for the kind words and review. I am glad you folks enjoyed the house and the Isalnd. You did a favor for those looking for a glitzy island. As you discovered, Virgin Gorda is about all things over, under and next to our turquoise waters and white sand beaches. Best wishes for a warm spring and pleasant summer.
Hosts were wonderful… could not have been more caring and accommodating. Everything about the house is wonderful, so beautifully decorated and equipped with everything to meet your needs, but that deck!!! OMG, what a view! And it’s HUGE!

Crosswinds is an incredible piece of property to stay at! My husband and I loved to sit on the deck and enjoy the gorgeous view, or to explore the beautiful gardens.Chip and Keith were the best hosts we've ever had and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was great. Thanks so much for the good words Norma. We appreciate guests are trusting strangers on the words of other strangers with their precious vacation time and expense. We do our best to be sure you feel your trust was well placed and your vacation carries warm memories for year to come. It is especially nice to know you enjoyed being over and in the gardens. They are a labor of back breaking sun-burned love! Best wishes on your continued celebration later this year. Chip & Keith
We stayed for a week with my parents, the location, house, terrace, grounds, view, beaches, and hosts were all great. We walked daily to the beautiful, uncrowded beaches and enjoyed the proximity to some good restaurants (we especially liked Coco Maya). Big thanks to Chip and Keith for their attention to detail, responsiveness and insider knowledge about the island. We would highly recommend.

Relaxation!
We had a fabulous time at Crosswinds Villa. Great views, great breezes and the deck, which is large as the house, was our respite from the real world. A short walk to Spring Bay Beach to excellent swimming and snorkeling. Highly recommend this location to anyone who likes clear water, beautiful beaches and fabulous weather!

Thanks much! It's all about living outdoors here as you found.
There is a good reason that almost all the reviews here are 10/10.
The house, location, amenities, feel......and most of all, Chip and Keith were the greatest hosts ever. After a long day of travel it was such a pleasure to collapse into this beautiful home. Everything was perfect. We are already looking forward to returning for a much longer stay.

What could I possibly say that hasn’t been said in all of the other reviews who unanimously agree that this property,it’s Management and Location are simply 10 out of 10. It is not often that one is given the opportunity to be surrounded by such beauty in the gardens of a property in a Caribbean paradise with such privacy and intimacy all to yourselves. It is difficult to express our gratitude adequately to our hosts for the stay that we enjoyed so tremendously in in this gorgeous natural surrounding. From groundskeeping to housekeeping, and our attentive communicative hosts, our visit could not have been any more special than it was.
Chip and Keith are the perfect hosts with a beautiful property surrounded by rock boulders and beautiful gardens. You will want to spend a lot of time on the giant deck overlooking the beach and nearby islands along with all the sailboats. The walk to the beach is easy and the water so enjoyable. You will not need anything as Keith and Chip have thought of all your needs. They even have the refrigerator with all your first day and more needs. It was such and enjoyable and relaxing trip, We will return!

I can’t praise the hosts and property enough! The house is very comfortable with every detail thought of. The views from the huge deck are amazing. The deck is as big as the house and you can live out there. Chip and Keith have everything you could need. We were late getting in because of delays and they even went grocery shopping for us!!! I HIGHLY recommend staying here❤️

Lovely Rental
My wife and I rented this lovely home for the Christmas/New Years holiday. The home was great. Wonderful location, fantastic deck, perfect breeze blowing through the house. The owners anticipated every need we might have, making our stay even more enjoyable. Many details that I had not considered, great bedding, beach chairs, snorkels, masks and fins, all there and ready for our use. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this home, or any other home owned by the same family.
Response from VrboOwner on 3 April 2020
Hey Steve. Thanks for the good words. We appreciate it and send best wishes for the New Year. Come back when you can!!
A Tropical Villa you would hope for:Our stay in Crosswinds Villa was everything you would hope to find when you imagine your ideal tropical villa. The expansive water views, the 4 acres of tastefully placed and maintained flowering and tropical plants and a large private lounging deck above to survey it all. All this privacy is only steps from the turquoise waters of Spring Bay and foot paths to several other white sand beaches. We were in disbelief we landed in such a perfect spot. The villa itself is clearly intended as a home versus the business of renting. You are meant to come back amd make it your own. Each room is fitted with top quality furniture, fabrics, materials and decor. The kitchen is equipped as a cook's kitchen but the nearby restaurants are excellent if you need time off, as we did. There are also further restaurants every bit as good, some including a boat trip, all an adventure to add to your memories. The on site owners are more like private concierges. They are available when you need them and invisible when you don't. While the island is safer than places most guests would come from, there is an extra layer of comfort knowing you can come and go leaving the house wide open and unprotected all day lone, just like the tropical island of your dreams. The only thing missing was all the friends we wish we could have shared such a special spot with. Look no further.

From the moment you step into Tradewinds you know what it means to experience a bit of paradise. It is nicely appointed ,extremely clean, and very safe. The beach is a very short stroll away and gorgeous. The crystal clear water and soft sandy beach along with the great snorkeling are hard to duplicate. The owners are extremely helpfull and friendly. There are lots of great restaurants to visit if you can tear yourself away from the outside living space and the incredible sunsets. I would recommend this villa to anyone and I'm sure you will want to return

I call it Paradise
My family & I spent a week here the end of Jan. This year was special in that my grandson came, making him the 4th generation of our family to vacation here. The house is perfect and the owners provide everything you could possible need for a great beach vacation. The view is spectacular, the beds super comfortable, the breeze delightful. Whenever I think of vacationing elsewhere my husband will ask," Is it as nice?" and I have to answer no. We feel at home here in Crosswinds.

Another perfect trip to VG
This was our sixth stay at Crosswinds, and it once again it was a perfect home away from home. The house is beautiful and has all of the accommodations you may need on vacation. As many other reviewers state, we lived on the deck, as it really is the most wonderful place to relax at the end of the day and enjoy the views of the island. The island is returning to normal, and now is a perfect time to visit! All of the grocery stores are well stocked, and the restaurants are open (we spent several nights at Coco Maya and more than a few afternoons at hog heaven). The beaches are still beautiful and we were often the only people on them. I was so glad to see the progress being made in VG, and look forward to our next stay at Crosswinds!

Great stay at the garden apartment!!
My boyfriend and I stayed in the first floor garden apartment for several days, visiting my parents and their friends who were staying in the main level for a couple of weeks. The apartment was the perfect size for 2 people with full kitchen and private outdoor patio. Since we were sharing the Villa with friends/family, we were able to take full advantage of the spectacular 2nd floor deck, hanging out and socializing up there when we wanted, but for times when we sought more privacy, the garden apartment was perfect. The owners live nearby and are extremely friendly, with lots of great tips about the island.
We would highly recommend the garden apartment for a younger couple staying with guests of the Crosswinds or when visitors need a third bedroom.

Perfection!
Crosswinds is by far my favorite vacation spot! I have visited VG with my parents several times. It is the perfect getaway for us. The house is beautiful and welcoming and as previously stated, you can literally live on the incredible deck. While there are several restaurants on the Island, my family and I cook most of our meals right at the house. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need while cooking and the expansive deck is the perfect dining spot. It is a short walk to the most amazing (and practically private) beaches I have ever seen. Virgin Gorda is my favorite place to visit; everyone on the island is incredibly friendly and relaxed. Part of me wishes Spring Bay could remain a hidden gem forever-it is quite literally heaven on earth!
Response from VrboOwner on 3 April 2020
Don't worry about the exclusivity of the island being lost. As long as you have to change planes in San Juan or take a two hour ferry from St Thomas the less adventurous will stick with the busier direct flight destinations.

Excellent In All Respects
This was a very special 2 bedroom unit with a centrally located living/dining/kitchen. Nice privacy. Exceptional in terms of amenities and nicely decorated. Huge second story deck with a view toward Beef Island and Tortola. Perfect for two couples.
Just an easy walk down to the beach, very near the Baths. One of the nicer beaches on the planet, beautiful sand and magnificent granite batholiths. Close enough to Spanish Town to walk to dinner or the grocery, if you're so inclined.
Chip and Keith were super hosts, very gracious and helpful and great communicators. I recommend their property highly.
Virgin Gorda is recovering from the terrible storms of 2017 and it's a good time to return, if you were wondering

Response from VrboOwner on 3 April 2020
Thanks so much, Anne. We are glad you found the island as comfortable post-Hurricane Irma as it was before. We are coming back stronger every day and will be better than ever should you return.
This is an amazing property. It is a very short, easy walk or snorkel to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, but the villa and it's expansive, gorgeous grounds made it extra special. The hosts were excellent--friendly and helpful, responsive communicators and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It was like having a private concierge. The kitchen was stocked with everything anyone would need to cook a meal. However, we also enjoyed eating at some great restaurants the hosts recommended and made reservations for us at. The island is fairly quiet, but that was exactly what we were looking for. It was such a unique property on such a great spot, we plan to go back every year. This is a very desirable rental, so if you find it available for your dates, grab it right away. It will fill up quickly.

Beautiful, Relaxing Utopia
We have enjoyed two-week February vacations at Crosswinds for 7 consecutive years. The house is comfortable and well maintained, but the main attraction is the ample patio. This well shaded and breezy expanse has a comfortable living room area as well as dining space. One wall of the house opens completely to the patio and the ocean view beyond, giving a wonderful airy expanse. The kitchen is well equipped, including an outdoor grilling area on the patio. A three minute walk takes you to Spring Bay, one of the island's most beautiful private beaches. We enjoy the swimming, snorkeling and walking from beach to beach or down the road to the Baths. Crosswinds has been the perfect place to kick back and relax. Chip and Keith are wonderful and responsive hosts, and we simply love being here.

No place like this!
I have spent 13 years vacationing at Spring Bay with my family and the last 4-5 trips we have stayed at Crosswinds. My husband won't go anywhere else! He always asks, "Is it better than Virgin Gorda?". We have stayed at several of the homes in Spring Bay and Crosswinds is where we return. The deck is fabulous! There is nowhere I would rather be at sunset than sitting on the deck with the unbelievable view. The house is very comfortable and well equiped. The owners are the best! They are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They know all the best places to go if you ever want to leave the beach or the deck. I can't say enough good things about them. I dispute the other reviewers saying this place is for 55+. My children started coming here when they were toddlers and my son came back to Crosswinds for his honeymoon. Quite a tribute to a place that is very special to us!

The Most Relaxing Place on Earth......
Let me start by saying I was blown away by the sheer beauty of this magical place. The house is so private, so spacious, so meticulously cared for, my husband and I didn't want to go home. The owners are so lovely and helpful, but very careful to give us our privacy. They gave us the best recommendations from everything from restaurants, shops, beaches, drives and the islands best manicurist. Totally delightful!
A very short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The water was aqua green, clean and the sand soft and white. The snorkeling was amazing!!! The local people are sweet and friendly, and always helpful if we needed some directions. We ate out pretty much every night, from local bar types with delicious fresh food, to some hipper water front "Nicki Beach" type restaurants for upscale dining, all while dressing casually. The owners definitely steered us in the right direction.
For a fab vacation whether you want to relax and read and soak up some sun, or an action packed water sport, running, yoga, fishing, sailing, boating, its all here in Virgin Gorda!! Can't wait to visit again....

Awesome Villa, Amazing Hosts!
We were most fortunate to connect with Chip and Keith and their spectacular property Crosswinds after our "usual" rental on Spring Bay was damaged by Irma. If you are a long-time Virgin Gorda visitor or if you are checking it out for the first time, do not hesitate to consider staying in this incredible home. The outdoor living space is the heart of this home, and the panoramic view of the Sir Francis Drake channel is a wondrous daily sight. And oh, the sunsets!
When you manage to get out of the deck hammock and go inside, you find a well-appointed and stocked kitchen, and a most comfortable indoor space including private bedrooms with tasteful furnishings and linens, and modern baths. Housekeeping is flawless. A highlight during our stay was a most gracious tour of the grounds and gardens by the longtime groundskeeper, who shared his knowledge and love of the natural world with us.
The walk from the house to beautiful Spring Bay is a 3-minute floral feast for the senses, and there is easy access to several adjacent beaches, all stunning.
Warm thanks to owners Keith and Chip, who were most attentive to our needs, and who reflect the friendliness of the people of this Island Paradise, Virgin Gorda.

About the host
Hosted by Chip McLaughlin
Lifelong New Englanders and world travelers, we split our time between the coast of Rhode Island and Virgin Gorda as well as hoping to discover a new destination or two each year. We chose to spend five months a year in Virgin Gorda after experiencing the perfectly warm water, clean uncrowded beaches, great snorkeling, personal safety and a welcoming local population. Virgin Gorda is constantly improving both through government guidance and visitors appreciation of its unique benefits. The small island has ended our search for the best place to spend every winter.
Why they chose this property
We purchased Crosswinds in Virgin Gorda after vacationing here for nine consecutive years. Originally a 1600 foot house with a rental of 1,000 sq ft on the second floor and a small wooden deck. The experience of our renting led us to create the vacation rental we always wished for. We added a 1,000 square-foot deck to the second floor with equal amounts of covered and sun-filled spaces, an over-equipped kitchen, upscale furnishings, an outdoor living and dining room, lots of potted tropical plants, a great gas grill, and a sizeable Brookstone hammock for reading! Crosswinds is a home rather than a hotel or business. Located in a private enclave of 10 homes, the third house back from Spring Bay, its privacy is assured in a four-acre garden setting. Spring Bay Beach is a white sand beach; the water is crystal clear, warm and always refreshing Given the tiny population and stable, well-run government, your personal safety is unmatched in the Caribbean. So stroll about to beaches, beach bars, local and tourist restaurants. Live unguarded and have fun!
What makes this property unique
Everything in Virgin Gorda revolves around the water and beaches. Leave the golf clubs home and forget about gambling. Plan on snorkeling, swimming, bobbing with a noodle and relaxing by the water all day. There are ample opportunities to explore other islands for the day or half the day on a variety of sail and motor boats. Rent a car and explore a large number of beaches, snorkeling spots, hiking and natural beauty. Take advantage of the high-end spas and resorts though you will then be glad you have Spring Bay and her sunsets to return to.
