Quaint cottage in great neighborhood

The cottage was very well stocked and had everything for our weekend getaway. The location is perfect - two blocks from Greenlake, which offers great walking/ running / biking trail, playground, community center etc.

Cutest Cottage!

We loved the cottage by Greenlake. The owners were very helpful with restaurant and cafe suggestions as well. Everything was clean, organized and comfy. We will stay here again and never use a hotel in Seattle now that we have this special place. The neighborhood was quiet, the lake nearby was super fun to ride the bikes to and people watch and Phinney Ridge up the hill had cafe's and restaurants so you don't have to go far. We like Fremont and Ballard and so the location was perfect for us-easy to get to both areas.

Great location!

Friendly service, great to work with (even let us in early) great location, great price. The only reason for 4 stars is that the place was a little dirty and in need of some TLC. Stains on the furniture and dusty. The bedding was clean. I considered the overall experience compared to the price.

Perfect Family Getaway

This property worked out perfectly for us. My wife and I along with our son, daughter-in-law and 20 month old granddaughter spent a week in Seattle visiting our other son. The location was ideal. It was 10 minutes from where our son lives in Queen Ann Hill and a 5 minute walk to Green Lake, also just a short drive to the zoo, Space Needle, museums and downtown Seattle. Ronda was great to work with and very responsive. They have a Pack 'N Play, 2 strollers and a booster chair that worked out great for our granddaughter and saved or kids a lot of trouble having to bring those along. Dragonfly has everything you need for a great vacation including a nice patio in the back yard, with games and a BBQ. We look forward to going back.

simply perfect

We are a family of 2 adults and 4 young kids, finding a hotel to accommodate us at an affordable rate is impossible. I'm so glad I found this amazing vacation home! The entire process was seamless and easy and most importantly AFFORDABLE! I found myself grateful several times throughout our stay that we were able to find this rental. The house was clean and literally had everything you need! The beds were amazingly comfy, a pullout sofa and second bedroom accommodated all of us easily. The fenced backyard provided lots of fun for the kids. The location was easy to find, close to the zoo and the family fun green lake. I asked my youngest her favorite part of the trip and she said without hesitation, "the green house!"

Cute cottage, kid friendly

This cottage was a great fit for our family's Seattle vacation. It's very kid friendly - it has a fenced backyard which was adorable and a nice front porch with a baby gate to keep the kids from going out to the street. The house was equipped with everything we needed, even a pack and play and some kid books and toys. We bought fresh fish from Pikes market and had a local Seattle friend over for dinner. Green lake is beautiful and this home is easy access to many areas of the city. Also has a washer and dryer and two bedrooms, great when traveling with kids that nap. The owner is very attentive and quick to respond too! Just know that the home is very very old. We didn't mind, but the photos definitely make the home appear more updated than it is. One bedroom has a skylight that is very bright...great energy saver, but allows no chance for sleeping as long as the sun has risen. It was a wonderful stay and we can't wait to visit Seattle again!

Great home and neighborhood.

My mother, daughter and I spent the weekend at this cottage and it was perfect for what we needed. We attended the Sarcoma Foundation Walk at Green Lake which the cottage is very close to. Friday night we walked to dinner. The home is cozy and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and sheets and quilt appear to be great quality. We did not have time to use the backyard but it was beautiful. The check in and out was easy. We did forget to take the food out of the fridge (sorry Rhonda) but there is everything you need for cooking and picnics other than your food. :) If you have small children this would also be a great place since there are strollers and items so you do not need to lug with you. We did not rent a car for a weekend since we also wanted to spend some time downtown. Taking Uber from the airport was about $79 and then about $20 back and forth if you're like me who does not want to deal with Seattle traffic. Only a couple of things to note, the TV instructions are not correct and the sofas are not very comfortable if you do not like soft, sink in sofas.

Perfect for small families

Excellent location and perfect for kids, with close access to the Zoo and Green Lake nearby, and only 15 mins by car to downtown. Rhonda is also an excellent host - we had asked for the pack and play to be set up since we were arriving late. I've asked that at other places only to be disappointed on arrival, but not here. The house is great for kids - a small yard out back, plenty of toys, and cable with a plan that includes the kid’s shows (Nick Jr and Disney Jr). We were very grateful there was a stroller (two actually) which kept us from having to lug one along. This is also a great house for foodies. When we travel, we like to cook and this place had everything we needed. In addition to a gas stove (major plus in my book) and most every possible utensil, this place also had a quality set of knifes and honing steel. At most places, I'm grateful if the knives don't have tips that look like they were used to pry open a can, let alone sharp. A side note - if you stay here on Sunday, check out the Ballard Farmer's Market. I will agree with some of the other reviews that the skylights are bright. They are, quite literally crafted in the style of a Fresnel lens, to maximize the light, which I believe are an asset in the rainy season. For our little one, it was difficult to nap through, but easily solved with some painters tape and tin foil. After all, we needed the foil to cook our fresh fish from the market. I would definitely recommend this house for a small family and hope to come back soon and stay again.

Excellent alternative to hotel room!

Stayed June 30 to July 10, 2014. Easy street parking. Nice quiet neighborhood to walk and see amazing Seattle home gardens and flowers. Appreciated Starbucks coffee pouches provided plus ample spice rack for us to use when cooking in evenings. Entire home very clean including gas stove. Good size fridge with freezer and ice ready. Washer, dryer and cleaning supplies a plus. Plenty of Kleenex, t.p. and paper towels for our extended stay. Great water pressure in shower. Excellent grocery shopping at nearby PCC - similar to Whole Foods. Spent many a morning relaxing with coffee at lovely large glass picnic table in small but very sweet back yard. Place is not air conditioned but nice box fan to put in window, and modern windows with screens, made it always comfortable, even when it was 80+ degrees. Only utensil not provided was an ice cream scoop - we bought one and left it for future folks. One suggestion: only one very old dresser in the house - but there is a large closet with lots of hangers and some shelves. For an extended stay as we did, a newer dresser would have been appreciated, perhaps two since there are two bedrooms. :). As others mentioned, skylight in second bedroom would make it very difficult for going to bed in summer before sun goes down (almost 10 PM) or for naps. If you have a small child, bringing blue masking tape and aluminum foil or black heavy garbage bag to tape over it would help. Since we are "seniors" we did not use stroller etc but did see them in closet. Stairs to house are less step than they look in picture but they are the only way into the house. If you have a disability, this would not be an ideal place. We did the stairs just fine. Overall, highly recommended! We will book again should we return to Seattle - and that of course, is the best recommendation you can give!

Great location in quiet neighborhood

Pros: Great location, quiet neighborhood, very comfortable bed, nice patio, communication with owner was very good. Patio was pleasant. Kitchen met your basic needs. Cons: If you are looking for a modern type place in terms of looks, this would not be for you. If you want a comfortable, clean, and conveniently located rental, you will be happy here. We would rent it again.

Great cottage, adorable neighborhood

Property was perfectly suited for our trip to Seattle and the location was perfect for several trips downtown, to Pike Place Market and to the water. The cottage has many amenities, including washer and dryer. The tv and wifi were not working when we arrived, but after communicating the issue, it was resolved. Overall a very comfortable place to stay.

Charming home, quiet neighborhood, close to Seattle

We enjoyed this cozy and charming craftsman home! It was all set up with everything we needed. It was just a short uber ride to downtown Seattle. And when we were done with our city excursion, we got to come home to a quiet and quaint neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect for our little family

I loved the pictures, I loved the description, and we were not disappointed. My only concerns going in were if my 2.75 year old would need to have the mattress on the floor in my room or some other configuration and if the floors were going to be creaky due to age of house and we'd be confined to not moving around once she was a sleep (light sleeper). Floors are NOT creaky and the room for her even had a little table with chairs that made her "own" the room within minutes. She slept in her own room, we could move around after bedtime (sad we didn't get change to enjoy the patio, but our trip was packed and short), and it had everything we needed. If available, we would certainly stay here again on our annual trek to Seattle. Only slight bummer comment is about the parking; we arrived late on a Friday and parked right in front, but for the rest of the weekend, every time we came back to the house it was a little tricky, but we still never parked more than three house up the street...not a huge deal, except for corralling the toddler across and down the street (and then we were parked that far away when loading up on our last day).

Wonderful, peaceful house

We had a great time at this sweet little house. It’s in a cute neighborhood that has a little grocery store, restaurants, and ice cream just a few blocks away. And a gorgeous lake a few blocks in the other direction. The house itself was very clean and quiet and comfortable and served as a great home-base while we explored Seattle.

Cozy Seattle Charm

This cute little cottage made our Seattle getaway a trip to remember. Great location with fun shops, good restaurants and excellent coffee, just a short walk away. It's also close to the zoo (Our kids favorite) and public transportation to get into downtown easily. Although this home is an older home it was surprisingly clean and well maintained. It was just what we needed! We'd totally stay here again.

Great location

We enjoyed our stay in this cute cottage with a great location, but it’s a bit musty and in need of a good scrub in the kitchen. It was comfortable and spacious enough for four of us — one kid was on the couch.

When not staying in the Phinney Cottage we can often be found traveling the world or staying at our country property outside Seattle. We enjoy traveling and often stay in vacation rentals ourselves.

Why they chose this property

After falling in love with the Phinney neighborhood we purchased the cottage in 2007. We thoroughly enjoy the area and still stay in the house often.

What makes this property unique

Location and comfort! We stay regularly at the cottage ourselves so it is very important to us that it is truly a 'home' to you when you are there.
