Santa Maria Novella is, among the four historic districts of the city of Florence, one of the two that extend on the right bank of the Arno, west of the San Giovanni district. It is the first one you encounter if you arrive at the station of the same name, by train or by tram line 1, which connects the center to the Scandicci area and to the convenient Villa Costanza parking lot on the A1 motorway and to Florence airport. It is a neighborhood full of things to see with all the essential services (supermarkets, bakeries, bars, restaurants etc.)
The neighborhood contains some of the most important museums in the city and in particular those that deal with modern and contemporary art: such as the Museo Novecento (Piazza Santa Maria Novella, 10) with its collection of works from the short century and the innovative layout, the Museo Marino Marini (Piazza di S. Pancrazio), with the works of the contemporary Tuscan artist, and Palazzo Strozzi (Piazza degli Strozzi) which alternates exhibitions of classical art with exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, constituting one of the most important exhibition spaces in Italy.
In addition to these you can also treat yourself to a visit to the Museo di Palazzo Davanzati (Via Porta Rossa, 13), where you will find the reconstruction of the medieval Florentine house and the Museo Ferragamo (Palazzo Spini Feroni, Piazza di Santa Trinita, 5/R), where you can immerse yourself in the history of the maison and Italian fashion.
