Great, quiet place to stay in a beautiful location!
This was a perfect place to get away and enjoy some quiet time in Spring. The unit has everything you could need and is in a great location! The owner was very responsive to our questions once we were there and kind enough to let us visit with the family dogs. This would be a great place to stay anytime of the year and we plan to visit again!
We had a wonderful time in Cooper's Landing. The rental is attached to what is a work in progress in the middle and the owner's main house. The rental was very clean. Beds super comfortable. Overall a nice stay, however would suggest to the owner a few improvements to make it even better!
1.) curtains for the front windows and side windows, or shades of some type. You have absolutely NO privacy with other rentals driving by your drive, a camp ground above you across the street. (you turn on your lights in the early a.m. to go fishing and you are under spot light for the whole neighborhood). Also, staff who are hired to take care of the sled dogs and property walking by.
Not a huge deal but a heads up about a birthday party prior to the DAY OF the birthday party would have been nice. I was happy to see kids running and playing and being kids, however again no privacy. We would have shut the blinds if we had them or scheduled something during that time if we had a heads up. So a bit better on communication also.
2.) A actual gas or electric stove. The stove within the unit is run off of a propane tank for a grill. The oven itself did not work, the stovetop did. I feel like if a person did not know how to properly turn on and off the gas it could be a danger.
The gas grill and deck were great to cook your catch. Overall our stay was great and I would recommend this to a friend with a few above improvements being made. Thank you for the stay and hope to be back in Cooper's Landing again some day.
Very nice place in a gorgeous location, as close as you can be in Alaska to amenities, especially fishing. The owner and property are great. Has all the necessities, except if you need WiFi, it is dark ages speed. Also, you had better love dogs barking frequently because there are several next door, and a nearby gun range.....just in case tranquility and quiet are high priorities.
A beautiful cabin in the mountains.
This has to be the cleanest VRBO place I have ever stayed in. Great kitchen set up, the view from the porch while we grilled our burgers was something out of a national geo magazine. The dogs were very friendly and I enjoyed their visits. The town of Cooperlanding was great and everyone answered all the questions we had. The huckleberry glacier ice cream at the general store was heavenly! The owner suggested Erik as a fishing guide for the river and he was excellent. Highly recommend him.
We can't wait to go back some day!
It is a good place to experience fishing on Russian River and Russian Ferry and to see around Kenai Lake. You can even do small trips to Seward and Soldotna.
This property is amazing. Beautiful, comfy, convenient and clean. It was everything we could have wished for. We will be back to the beautiful river and cabin!

unique experience/ideal location
Stayed here for two nights with my 12 year old daughter in late August for two nights on way to Homer. Property is off the main road and wonderfully secluded. Cabin is roomy and comfortable, functional décor. Robb and the dogs were the main attraction. Great visiting with the dogs and watching them interact with one another. Learned a bunch from Robb about mushing; checked out his sleds, gear, etc. Great stay and will stay here again no doubt. My thanks Robb!

The Bear Den at “Just Bears”
Another vacation in beautiful Alaska! We stayed in Cooper Landing at the Bear Den, where the accomodations are stylish, bright and very comfortable. The spacious bedroom sleeps four, so it is the perfect get-away for a couple or small family. Our busy days began with a leisurely breakfast in the sunny well-appointed kitchen. It’s large windows greet you with a view of the mountains. This is the perfect place to relax after a full day’s activities. You can cook in or outside on a lovely gas grill.
Hosts, Robb and Evelyn Bear of “Just Bears,” are happy to share inside knowledge of the area. This is also a rare chance to see a real dog-sled team and learn about the sport that Robb so loves. We highly recommend this location and are sure to return.
