The owner is so nice and accommodating. The property is nice, quiet, and secluded. It's the perfect place to stay instead of a noisy hotel.

A wonderfully relaxing casita at a VERY affordable price!
We found this casita to be very comfortable and well appointed. It is not a large space, but the furnishing and decor have come together to create a warm and engaging place to stay. Everything was very clean and in great condition, and Fawn, her son, and the folks "next door" were helpful and attentive to any needs we had. We highly recommend this casita and plan to stay again. Definitely check out the Range Cafe across the street, and enjoy the proximity of Albuquerque and Santa Fe so nearby.

Cute adobe casita near everything
We spent a week in this great casita near Albuquerque/Santa Fe. The train station was only a few minutes walk from the casita and runs to both cities. We took it into Santa Fe for the farmers market and to shop at the Plaza. It is walking distance to a good eating place - "the Range". The place had everything we needed and was quiet, comfortable and cozy. Truly enjoyed it.

I admire you for exploring the area on bikes, by foot and via the train. Having a sense of adventure enhances ones experience and makes a visit to the Land of Enchantment so much more rewarding. Thank you for such a prompt review. Enjoy the rest of your journey. I hope you pass this way again. Fawn
We were impressed by the well supplied kitchen and the extensive toiletries in the bathroom. I forgot my razor and sure enough there were two fresh ones!

This was perfect for my husband and me. Quick 10 minute drive to Balloon Festiva. Bed comfy, full kitchen. Clean. Quiet. Lots of snacks and water in fridge. Lots of room for us. At least 2 great restaurants we walked to from the location. Definitely would come back.
We had a great time in the Albuquerque area for the Balloon Fiesta and Annular Solar Eclipse! This cute casita was perfect for my husband and I! Fawn sent great instructions for checking in and was very responsive to our request to check out a little later, which allowed us some time to rest after an early morning going to the Balloon Fiesta! There were some nice snacks waiting for us in the casita, which were very much appreciated during our car rides around the area. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends and I would stay again.

Thank you for your kind remarks. So glad you found the casita cozy, convenient and affordable. We aim to please!
We love sharing the Land of Enchantment with adventuresome guests who are eager to explore and enjoy the area. The casita offers a quiet, relaxing respite to guests after a day's adventure whether you've gone shopping, hiking, biking, gambling or off the beaten path to the Tent Rocks!
We hope you pass this way again.
Kindly, Fawn
All the Ambience of a quintessential casita was on the Exterior!
This casita was a good size for 2 people, however it lacked in the kind of esthetics you want went traveling i.e. the rich flavor of the culture. Instead we got a vibe of a hodgepodge of furniture (no comfortable chair for reading )
Bedding, linens and accessories were not at all quality goods. Disappointing for such a potentially lovely casita.

Thank you for your opinion. The pictures on VRBO reflect the interior of the casita, thus the reason numerus guests have booked it over the many years its been available. The "hodegpodge" of furntiure reflect the finds of furntiure I have made over 26 years of having an antique store in Bernalillo.
There is a chair there which takes space that some people prefer to use for their luggage.
As far as having the "rich flavor of the culture" represented within the confines of a 600 sq ft casita, most guests choose to explore the surrounding area in order to experience our rich multi cultures. We are centerally located so one can plan several day trips on scenic byways, visit 7 pueblos, as well as the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Coronado Stae Monument and the Sandoval County Tourism Center. Travel guides are readily available in the casita. I am a Native American and a Native New Mexican. Our culture in the Land of Enchantment is of great pride to those of us who call New Mexico home. I hope you were able to experience even a glimpse of what the state has to offer. Perhaps next time you visit our state, a stay in Santa Fe or Hyatt Tamaya or Taos will be more suitable. Prices there start at a few hunded dollars a night.

Cozy Casita
We were in Bernalillo to attend a wedding and were able to have a long weekend for it. We stayed in this charming casita, and were so happy to have found such a clean, cozy, and quiet place to stay. It was so quaint and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare a meal should we want to and the bathroom and shower was nicely tiled and stocked. We walked to the Range Cafe for a delicious, southwest breakfast every morning. Our trip was filled with social engagements related to the wedding and we, regretfully, did not have the time to see more of the shops and activities within the local vicinity. We are definitely going to return for a leisurely stay without time restraints and responsibilities. The owner, Fawn, assured us she was available for anything we needed and was so hospitable and gracious. I can't wait to return.

Casita Stay
My husband and I just returned from a trip to New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. It was our first time using VRBO and I thought I'd give it a try. I've always wanted to visit NM and stay in an Adobe bldg. to fully "experience" the Land of Enchantment so we stayed in Fawn's Authentic Adobe Casita rental for three nights. Wonderful experience!!!!! We had everything we needed, including a fun welcoming basket of wine and snacks. We had a car rental, but loved using the rail runner when visiting the Santa Fe area (train depot is very close by and easy to use). We took walks around town each day, ate at the Range Café (excellent food), plus there is a Denny's and KFC for something quick while on the go. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! We felt very safe. The people around this quaint little town were friendly and helpful. Fawn was such a joy to meet and very attentive to our needs. Her talented son has an art shop next door to our casita and introduced himself right away and welcomed us. Honestly, it was like having family nearby. The breathtaking views of the Sandia Mountains in the background made Bernalillo the perfect start to our travel adventure! We would highly recommend this adobe casita to anyone who is traveling as a couple or alone. We hope to go back there again at some point. Loved our time there! Thanks Fawn!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the review. You were the perfect guests, being receptive and adventuresome. You were willing and eager to explore something new and different. We are always thrilled to share the land of enchantment with our guests. We are also pleased that you enjoyed our humble abode! We hope to see you again whenever your travels bring you back to the area. What an adventure you had! It's a once in a lifetime event. Thank you for spending a portion of it with us. Fawn
Grocery was a handy walk. Good restaurant was a handy walk. Place was well enough and simply appointed. Could use some soft seating - but it just wasn’t a big deal.
One hiccup with the front door getting jammed, but a quick text and it was handled. With a sense of humor by all.
We stayed at this property as we were preparing for a move to our new home. We stayed for 6 weeks and it was perfect for what we needed. The property is nice & Fawn is awesome!
This stay was transitional for us before moving to our new place. We stayed for 6 weeks and it was awesome and what we needed! Fawn is great and the Casita was so cute!!

About the host

I am a Native New Mexican of American Indian & Hispanic descent & I'm part Irish, thus the surname! New Mexico has been my playground for 60+ years. There is still much to discover, so planning a trip to New Mexico for a week or two cannot do justice to all it offers but to be here, for any length of time, is a must! Bernalillo is a rural community that is now surrounded by the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Bernalillo still has a small town feel to it even though it has grown expotentiallay since we bought the property in 1996. I am personally, professionally & economically vested in the area and love showing & sharing my playground with people who want to experience the Land of Enchantment and its treasures. Antiquing is my hobby. My antique store, Camino Real Antiques, is celebrating its 20th year in business this August & is in walking distance from the casita! I also love fishing, biking, golfing, bowling, dancing and bike riding. All of these activities are available year round in our fair town, city, state. I have travelled around the world and am always eager to come home to the four seasons, the granduer of the Sandia Mountains, the smell of green chile roasting, the site of hot air balloons and to the simple pleasures of a slower pace. I look forward to sharing my love of New Mexico with you & yours.
Why they chose this property
This property has been in Bernalillo since the 1800's and reflects the simple lifestyle of early residents. We purchased the property in 1996. The previous owners have a long history in Bernaillo and have left a positive mark in the town. Once a doctor's office, then a storage shed, then a beauty shop, it was remodeled in October 2012. Its transformation into a casita is the best use of this space yet. It is welcoming, practical, inviting and affordable. The casita is quiet, safe and while centrally located, you are still set apart from the hubbub of city life. You'll be the envy of all your friends when you book your stay here!
What makes this property unique
As you walk in the front door, its charm welcomes you. Friends & family who have entered the premises sigh a breath of relief just to be in its cool, calm confines. Drop your bags, lay on the bed & kick your feet up. There are NO distractions from relaxing! Walk downtown to shops & restaurants, hop on the Rail Runner, or jump in your car and head north, south, east or west on the interstate or on any number of scenic byways! You are on your way to exploring Sandoval County & more.
