About this property

Sweet Historic Adobe Home in Old Town Area

Very centrally located on a quiet, safe street, Casa de Calderones is 100+ year old adobe home with thick walls and an Old World feel. Lovingly restored with an artistic touch, the rooms are spacious and comfortable.

The Dining Room showcases the original red painted wood floor and a large dining table. The Bedroom is carpeted and has a cozy wood stove. The Living Room with two comfortable leather couches, is carpeted and has a gorgeous Persian rug.

The Kitchen has a slate tile floor, granite countertops and sunny breakfast nook. The delightful, Victorian-esque bathroom has heated ceramic tile and a claw foot tub with shower.

The lovely Outdoor Patios round out the property with dining areas set among the native plants and flowers and frequented by hummingbirds. The whole property is a delight to the senses.

A recent comment from an inquirer maybe sums it up best:

** 'The past week I have gone over the VRBO listings for Albuquerque and area repeatedly, and there is no doubt in my mind that your house has the best combination of features, location, and value of any other property. All this is supported by the many glowing comments from previous guests and the fact that yours is in such high demand. And I must add that the photos and presentation(staging) of your house is first rate.' **

For those with mobility issues, the Casa does have a couple of steps into the house. Inside, the Living Room is one step below the rest of the floor area. The Bathroom has a claw foot tub; grab bars are installed.

Historical Charm and Roomy
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks in this adobe house in Old Town. It offers quite a bit of space for 2 people. It is over 100 years old, so loaded with historical charm. This was our primary reason to choose this adobe home. Close to Old Town shops, etc. could be walkable for many although we chose to drive. Easy drive to everything we wanted to see. Owner provides much info about house and area. We enjoyed many places on her list. Area is quiet. Easy parking for our one car. Owner is pleasant and responsive, although we had no negative issues. One of us works remotely, Internet service was fine. One caution- people who have balance or mobility issues should consider that the shower option is in a claw foot free standing tub. We had no problems entering/exiting, and it works fine, but this could be an issue for some. Overall, a great choice with plenty of charm!

My husband and rented this for six weeks while we were waiting to close on our new house in Albuquerque. Sara was very easy to work with, she was so responsive to any needs we had. We loved the house and the setting, the outdoor space was very inviting. We liked that we could walk to Old Town. Awesome location.

Albuquerque in winter
Great location for walking over to Rio Grande, Old town and Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Easy connection onto I-40 or Central Ave old route 66. Sara provided comprehensive information on the Casa and surrounding neighbourhood. Thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay in Albuquerque.

As a native New Mexican, I love to share and promote Albuquerque and its surroundings. It is the unsung hero of the Southwest; a wonderfully diverse town with great weather, the amenities of a fairly large city, and yet in close proximity to abundant outdoor activities and wilderness areas. Free time finds me hiking and mountain biking in the Sandias, or exploring our many beautiful National Forests.

Why they chose this property

My parents had stayed at the Casa de Calderones on their yearly month-long visits to New Mexico. They loved the house! So when it came on the market, we jumped at the chance to own and manage this lovely, well maintained property. The previous owner lovingly renovated the home, doing most of the work himself. We feel lucky to inherit his efforts and devotion to this property.

What makes this property unique

The location of this property is nearly perfect; close to the river for walking and birdwatching, close to Old Town, the heart of the city, with museums and restaurants, and with easy access to the highway. Many important parts of the city are within 20 minutes, and yet it feels very private and quiet.
