We built this home with our own hands and we cannot wait for you to feel how much love was put into this property. From our family to yours, welcome to Kokopelli Kabin, we hope you’ll love it here as much as we do!

The name of our mountain getaway comes from Kokopelli, one of the most recognizable and meaningful symbols of the American Southwest. For centuries, Kokopelli has been celebrated in Native traditions as a spirit of music, joy, travel, abundance, and renewal. Often depicted as a flute player with a curved back, Kokopelli was believed to wander from village to village, bringing stories, songs, laughter, and blessings of growth wherever he went. For us, Kokopelli represents the spirit of journey and connection—the idea that travel is not just about where you go, but what you carry home with you: new energy, new memories, and a sense of renewal. Just as Kokopelli was a bringer of good fortune and adventure, we hope our cabin offers guests that same sense of magic and inspiration. At Kokopelli Kabin, you’ll find sweeping mountain views, fresh air, and access to miles of nearby hiking trails. It’s a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace the joy of exploration. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape or a longer stay, our hope is that your time here feels restorative—like a breath of fresh mountain air for the soul. Kokopelli Kabin is more than a name—it’s a vibe. One of music, laughter, renewal, and adventure. We invite you to experience it with us.

The house was very clean with very thoughtful touches. We had children ranging from 10 months old to five years old and the kids had so much fun! The two primary suites were perfect for the parents to have their own space and the playroom downstairs kept the girls entertained in the mornings. We will definitely be back and this has been my favorite house that we have rented together!

About the host

Hi there! My name is Kristen, and I’m a proud Rhode Island native who fell head over heels in love with Vermont when my daughter attended Williams College here. My husband, Chris, and I have been blessed to own and operate a remodeling and building company for the past 25 years. Kokopelli Kabin was a labor of love, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with you!

Why they chose this property

Our daughter, after graduating college settled down up here in Pownal to build a family of her own. Now, as grandparents, we couldn’t imagine a world where we didn’t get to watch our grandchildren grow! Building this home from the ground up was hard work and lots of traveling back and forth but we have no regrets because Kokopelli Kabin is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of our lives back in Rhode Island.

What makes this property unique

It feels like a cozy nest! Even though it has tall ceilings and a whole side of the house is made of windows, it’s still super private and snug.

Watching the sun rise and set over the mountains from the second story balcony that runs the length of the house is just so peaceful, and reflective.
