This is the 2nd time we stayed at this property for a work trip. The place was adorable and very comfortable but the thing that keeps us coming back above all was how clean it was. You could smell how fresh and clean it was the moment you stepped in the door (and not in a bleachy hospital way). The cleanliness alone is worth every penny.
It was just as described. Loved that it is in an older building. Double entrance, so we felt safe entering in the evening. Near Bushnell park which was a nice place for a run. It was perfect for a mother-daughter visit. There was street noise, but that's a city. It was not a problem. Loved the small touches such as snacks, coffee, and toiletries.

Large and Well Appointed 1 Bedroom in Hartford
Marc was a great host, providing lots of good dining and other suggestions. His large 1 bedroom is homey, with a comfortable bed, large living room and kitchen and is located just a short walk from the Bushnell event venue and park, state capital and lots of good restaurants. Having cereal, coffee and cream there for the mornings also got me off to a good start every day of my stay in Hartford.
Thank You Marc!

thanks for enjoying our location and place- you know where we're for a future stay over or for a friend. appreciated!
We had a very pleasant three nights stay at this wall appointed little apartment in downtown Hartford. Many walkable, coffe3 shops and restaurants nearby. Convenient parking on site. Near Bushnell Park and the Capitol building. Easy check-in process and the management communicated effectively and quickly.
The apartment feels very safe because it is behind a locked gate as well. The apartment was newly cleaned when we checked in, and had wall plug-ins for fragrance. We had to unplug the wall plug-ins because they got to be too much. The point is it was very very clean! Mattress was a bit soft for our taste, but ok.. Given the opportunity, I would stay again!

Never Again
My previous stay went perfect, but this time there was a check in mix up and I was outside for an hour and a half, which I understand mix ups happen, but when an unknown man walked into the unit 3 times, while I was trying to sleep and not decent, using keys and turning lights on and off, that’s when I just about had it. I felt unsafe and had to leave. When everything goes according to plan it’s a very nice place to stay but due to my experience I won’t return here again.

It’s fine.
Despite having confirmation and a discussion about arrival time, the space was not ready even when arriving after the agreed upon time. We’re also private and keep to ourselves, so it was uncomfortable for us to have to converse with the cleaner and owner while we waited. They were prompt in responding the first day when we had temp change needs. All responses stopped by the next day.The kitchen is super cute and had what we needed. The bathtub/shower is a water damage nightmare. The toilet is old with small plumbing. We needed a (ahem) toilet plunger. We never received a response. The space had parts “under renovation,” so I’m not sure why it was rented. The internet worked just fine. The beds need to be burned. We did not rest comfortably. I didn’t know box spring “futons” even existed still. The location is fantastic with regard to proximity to anttractions and highway. The neighborhood is just okay. Honestly, if you’re a city person it’s harmless. If you’re not used to mixing it up with all types at any time of day, this may not be for you.Overall, we will not return. It is not the quality of experience touted by VRBO.
First floor appointment, we'll maintenance, clean, and very friendly property manager. It is walking distance from lots of great downtown locations. You will have normal city traffic in the morning but very manageable. The place is great would recommend for a single business stay or a couple's getaway. Just AWESOME!!!!
The property was as advertised. Plenty of room and place was warm and inviting. The only area for improvement is the bed and futon. The futon should be replaced not comfortable to sleep in and the bed was not comfortable at all, time for it to be replaced. The place is very convenient to all Hartford things and I would stay again.
I 100% enjoyed my stay, it’s a spacious one bedroom, right in the middle of Hartford. It’s very nicely decorated property, and the bed was super comfy. The owners were very kind and even let me check in early. I would definitely book again!
We stayed 3 nights in two apartments. They are darling and we enjoyed them. The owners provided eggs, filtered water, and wine in the fridges and coffee and tea. The only down side was the noisy traffic on hot weekend nights! Downtown celebrations led to continued noise and inability to sleep until after 1am or so.
I was very comfortable in the space. The highlight for me was the clawfoot bathtub that I filled and used that first evening. I appreciated the tea and snacks and found the bed quite comfortable.

we are appreciative of Adriene's quiet respectful visit and so happy she enjoyed the 1928 bath tub!
see you again and safe travels! marc & staff in South Downtown Hartford
I liked how quaint inside the apartment was. However, felt unsafe most of the time. Hardly got ant sleep because of it. Also the heater was on blast and no way to turn off. First floor and no gate on windows so couldn't even crack the a bit.
Communication with Mark and the management team was great from start to finish. Very easy check in check out process. Great location for downtown events. Good size apartment with everything you'd need for a stay. Only drawback was the inability to control the heat. It was a bit warm for our liking.

wehave adjustedour new gas boilers as folks would rather have it warmer than colder. glad your stay was memorable at the Buckingham apartments ! appreciated marc tania@marcgottesdiener.com, Janice, victor and staff - thanks
Convenient location for attending downtown events.
This place is an apartment in an old-school 1920's apartment building in the heart of the city. It seems well cared for but don't expect modern. Think pull-chains to turn lights on, a claw-foot bathtub, and a central boiler for the building's radiant heaters. Being right on a busy road also meant being able to hear the traffic outside which ran pretty late into the night which might bother a light sleeper who isn't used to urban noises.
The host and owner of the building was very friendly and accommodating making sure we had everything we needed almost as soon as we could think to ask.

We equip our apartments the best we can for that chic urban modernized comfort feel at our renovated 1928 building facing Bushnell Park in south Downtown Hartford (SODO). The living rooms have queen size sofa pullouts, too & we try to provide some thoughtful amenities for our guests because we know what it's like to travel to a new place so we try to best Communicate with our guest & help them with Hartford ideas.
Great for downtown Hartford / Bushnell Performing Arts Center
Stayed one night in this apartment for a performance at the Bushnell on a Tuesday night. It was very straight forward communication from Marc and his team, which was easy to understand and took away a lot of the travel anxiety.
There is on site parking available, which is a great bonus to save money and allow for easy transportation, especially with us driving up from NYC.
The apartment had just been remodeled with some nice touches while keeping the charm of an older building.
Marc and Tania allowed us to check in early, which was excellent, and the apartment was spotless. There was a lot of very welcome touches like snacks, soaps / toothbrushes, and a nicely layed out binder with all the area businesses and things to do, as well as checkout process.
The building is older, but the apartment is well taken care of and all rooms had window AC units to keep back the summer heat.
This apartment is less than a 5 minute walk to the Bushnell and plenty of restaurants, bars, things to see. If we ever return up to the Hartford area I would definitely stay again, especially at about 1/3 the cost of a hotel in the same area.
Thanks!
Very clean. Nice place. Nothing crazy, but is cozy and put together.

Great location, easy access and fairly good communication
This place was good overall. Had an issue with the oven that filled the apartment up with smoke when I tried to use it because it hadn’t been cleaned. Tried to contact the office when this happened to get cleaning supplies, several times and the door was open but no one was there. Communication was spotty even when checking out, but in the end I had everything I needed.

Why they chose this property
Buckingham Apartments are nestled in the heart of Downtown Hartford in the South Downtown district. You will find that we are 2 blocks south of Bushnell Park & approximately 200 yards from the Bushnell Auditorium on Capitol Avenue. Our neighborhood is full of historic charm, Victorian era homes and buildings populate this area for blocks. This property was designed and built by George Zumner in 1927-1928, and I along with a small staff have been the caretaker of modernizing this building for the last 3 decades. The building is also occupied by other tenants of mine who are single dwellers and always very quiet. The building is safe, very clean and all tenants are respectful and polite. Each room has it's own special charm and we take great pride in our apartments. Each room is designed with our guests in mind and we go the extra mile to ensure that guests are comfortable and have everything they could ever need at their fingertips or a block or two away. Each room has it's own personality and special charm which makes it unique. You will definitely find quirky photos, historic event flyers and even unique pieces of furniture inside every room of the apartment!
What makes this property unique
Each room is designed with our guests in mind. You will find unique and eclectic pieces of furniture and decor in each room. We wanted to find a way to share Hartford's rich history in a way that will not bore our guests or take away from the thoughtful touches we put in each room of the apartment. We are conveniently situated in the heart of Hartford's South Downtown district which is technically a stone's throw from the wider downtown Metro area. Virtually everything is at your fingertips, restaurants, pubs, hole-in- the-wall bars, rail stations, parks, library and a gym are all within a 5-10 minute walk of Buckingham Apartments. You will find that the location is discrete, quiet and very private.
