Excellent stay

Everthing was excellent from check in to check out. Bill and Allen were wonderful hosts. Would highly recommended. Great location as well. Close to everything, Muni, shops, groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, parks, etc.

Cozy charming house with fantastic hosts

The carriage house is in a great location in the Lower Haight, and has everything you might need for a month+ long stay. Bill and Allan are amazing hosts, super responsive and friendly.

Extraordinary place - Magical!j

The Carriage House was incredible! Bill and Alan couldn't have made us feel more welcome, they were open to communications from us at any time. The house is quiet, cozy and clean, close to tons of shopping. I can highly and confidently recommend staying here. Thanks so much Alan and Bill for making my recovery so much more pleasant!

Carriage House

This is a lovely spot in the heart of the city with the best host ever. It’s clean, quiet, convenient and lovely. I feel very lucky to have found it at a very stressful time in my life. I say go for it. I felt very safe and comfortable there for my entire stay.

The carriage house is the perfect place to stay in San Francisco!

Thank you Bill & Allen for the perfect cozy spot for our recent visit to San Francisco! The carriage house is such a lovely gem. The garden is immaculate and provides a tranquil oasis in the heart of a big city. Your warm welcome and thoughtful provisioning were surely appreciated. The location has a neighborhood feel while being easily accessible to all the city has to offer, and for us especially convenient to our daughter's apartment. Highly recommended, thank you, Bill and Allen!

We stayed in the carriage house for 4 nights. First of all, the carriage house was exquisite - the furnishings, decor - it even smelled wonderful! Bill and Allen were gracious hosts, making us feel very welcome. They carried our bags, stocked the kitchen with breakfast and snack food, gave us lots of information and told us to contact them anytime with questions. The location is very convenient and it is easy do get around by public transportation, walking and by cab (there's even a parking space, but you need a small car). I know where I'm staying the next time I'm in SF!

The San Francisco Carriage House is a Genuine Hidden Treasure

The Carriage House is amazing. We stayed in this property for 6 weeks and enjoyed every minute. The property is perfect in all aspects and is very well maintained. Bill and Allen are fantastic hosts. It is located in a vibrant, exciting neighborhood within walking distance of anything and everything. The garden entrance is breathtaking and the pictures really don't do the entire property justice. It had all the amenities we needed plus some, like two gas fireplaces. and a fantastic front porch. The kitchen is the most well equipped we have ever seen in a vacation rental property. We rated The Carriage House with 5 stars but wish it could have been 10. We highly recommend this property!!

Wonderful stay in hub of action in San Francisco with excellent hosts, who were helpful in every way. Perfect house, fully equipped, in a perfect location - we had a fantastic stay in the city made all the better by Allen and Bill's hospitality.

A most special getaway in San Francisco

OMG!! Bill and Allen have created such a wonderful retreat in the heart of the city. Absolutely no detail has been overlooked. We were greeted by Bill who introduced us to our private oasis. A basket of goodies awaited us and he walked us through the carriage house which has been meticulously and gorgeously decorated. It is a place where we will definitely stay again. So convenient, with wonderful food stores and restaurants within walking distance. This was our first VRBO and what a pleasure it was. Looking forward to seeing Allen and Bill on our next trip to SF. Wonderful, comfy, cozy home away from home

Bill's and Allen's place is a lovely home, that is in ship-shape, with everything a person could want. The carriage house has a kitchen and living area on the first floor and bedroom on the second floor. It was a great home base for me during my visit to San Francisco. Bill and Allen were wonderful hosts, very attentive without being at all intrusive. The garden outside of the carriage house is beautiful and welcoming.

A gem!

Bill and Allen's Carriage House is like a friend's embrace: welcoming, comforting, warm and joyful. As soon as you receive your first hello from Bill and walk through the serene garden towards the beautiful carriage house, you know you are at a home-away-from-home. The house itself is gracious, elegant and so very cozy...as an avid reader I cannot say enough about the soft places to land and dive into a novel...with many extra touches of care by the hosts and amenities to make the visit extraordinary. The iconic location is ideal for those who appreciate peace and a sense of belonging while also having ready access to municipal transit services to all points of interest. Whether in person or through the detailed binder they created full of thoughtful information left on the desk, Bill and Allen are wonderful resources and ensure that their guests have a memorable experience. Top tip from us to the next lucky guests: take the ferry to Sausalito for a glorious near-Mediterranean experience. Amazing Find!

This property is everything plus what is described. I booked the Carriage House for my parents as a gift in order for them to visit my brother, his wife and their newborn. Bill and Allen could not have been any more thoughtful and accommodating. From making sure that they understood any special needs my parents may have before they arrived, to stashing their luggage when they arrived early, to loading up the kitchen with food and drinks, Bill and Allen took care of them at every turn. Besides Bill and Allen themselves(!), my parents loved the Carriage House and how quiet, cozy and private it is in a large bustling city. It is obvious that it is well cared for and the attention to detail is wonderful. My mother reported that even the soap in the bathroom was amazing! An additional perk was that my parents really enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood--a new spot in San Francisco for them. They look forward to a return trip and stay--and I look forward to a stay in the Carriage House one day when I have no children attached at the hip! Could not have been happier!

This was a FANTASTIC rental! Bill and Allen were so helpful when we arrived. They filled our fridge with all we would need for a enjoyable happy hour and breakfast on the porch enjoying the amazing gardens. We have stayed in San Fran 100's of times and finally got tired of the hotel scene so we decided to do a VRBO. This was an area of town we have never been to and I can honestly say, We will be staying here again and often. The location was so convenient to anywhere you want to go. Also, we are training for a mountain race and needed to run hills and there is a perfect park, Buena Vista Park, just two blocks away. It was exactly what we needed. Again, I can't say enough about this place. The other reviews are spot on about the accommodations. The photos do not do this place justice! There is so much character and charm. Bill and Allen, we will be back:)

Outstanding Hideaway

We could not be made more welcome at this stunning Carriage house situated in a buzzing SF neighbourhood. The accommodation was spotless, warm ,welcoming, and extremely comfortable on those cool SF nights with the open fire roaring away. A variety of easy to use transport will get you anywhere you want to go as it is just around the corner. Bill and Allen have excellent local knowledge which they are happy to impart and there restaurant recommendations are excellent. We look forward to returning to the carriage house as it now feels like our little San Francisco bolt hole. Again Many thanks Allen and Bill.

Stunning, unique and lovely way to start a holiday

Arriving after a long flight from London what a pleasure it was to be staying here rather than a small hotel room. So much space, so beautiful inside and out. We felt like we were staying in the most unique location in San Francisco, great area to stay in also. Bill and Allen were wonderful when we arrived and Bill continued to accomodate us for the rest of our stay. He was so kind and helpful we felt like family and he gave us great tips for the rest of our trip. We know exactly where we will be staying when we return.

Fantastic little house in San Francisco

The San Francisco Carriage House is a fantastic getaway venue. It is beautifully laid out and equipped as a complete home from home, in fact better than most homes...! The location is idyllic, nestling at the bottom of the garden with its own access and entrance. A place you can retreat to and forget the world for a while. It was spotlessly clean, full of little treats, great coffee and tea and the sort of luxuries you expect to only find in a 5* hotel. If you want to explore it is within easy access of Fillmore and Diversioso which offer an abundance of great cafés, restaurants and cool shops. It is also close enough to Downtown San Francisco to be accessible but far enough away too... The hosts, Bill and Allen, are great guys who made us really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our stay with them and now count them as good friends. We can absolutely recommend the Little Carriage House, it is just a perfect find and lovely place to relax in or use as a base from which to enjoy the good things San Francisco has to offer.

SF romantic carriage house

The description and pictures were absolutely accurate. In fact, it was better than the pictures. I would recommend this charming and immaculate coach house to anyone. The talented owners had newly decorated every inch of the house. They had thought of every need for their guests.The linens and soaps were amazing.Besides answering any questions, they had supplied the house with a personal book of restaurants and sights to see. Palmora, 1/2 block from the house has the greatest Mideastern food.The location was fabulous for great walking and easy transportation. The outside garden area was a delight and a very special spot. Unbelievable well maintained and meticulous kitchen. It was the most welcoming place to experience San Francisco,and I would never stay anywhere else. I cannot say enough good things about the beautiful coach house. Cannot wait to go back.

Excellent Stay!

My partner and I stayed at the Carriage House for 8 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our hosts received us and were wonderful about explaining the house, the neighborhood and local attractions. Our fridge was stocked with goodies as well and a nice welcoming surprise on the counter with a card. The house itself was perfect; very warm and cozy and well equipped (truly a full kitchen with everything you could want). Everything is new and exceptional; the baths are not only spotless but beautiful and the bedding was super nice and even pressed! I really cant think of any criticisms; anyone considering this house as a vacation rental should go! Make sure you go to the Mediterranean restaurant for lunch or dinner down the road as well as the grind for breakfast.

Our San Francisco Honeymoon Stay

Well all I can say is, wow! This was such a wonderful honeymoon stay for us. We were looking for someplace special, and I was hoping the photos would do it justice when we were planning our stay. I can honestly say, from the moment we arrived I knew we had picked the right place. So charming, so sweet and lovely and private, tucked away in that garden behind the big victorian. We barely even knew the whole city of San Francisco was just beyond the garden. Our hosts were SO accommodating to our needs, and made the stay very special. I just can't thank them enough. I think the owner is a designer, because everything about the place was done with such attention to detail. The downstairs has a cozy living room and fireplace, and the kitchen had all the amenities we could possibly have needed. I mean, pots pans, cups, plates, silverware, you name it. There was a beautiful staircase leading up to the sweetest, most romantic bedroom. You just have to see it to really appreciate how charming this place is, but the architecture of the ceiling and the lovely little stained glass windows make you feel like a bird in your own private nest. Both bathrooms were really nicely done too, and there was room to tuck everything out of our way so that we really felt like we were on a retreat. The bedding and linens were great, and we loved being able to just relax on the front porch as if we were in our own private garden, and then go for walks in the city with casual neighborhood restaurants just a few steps away. I should probably say that while I found it great as a romantic getaway, I don't think I'd stay there with kids just because everything was so pristine. Well, I don't know what else to say except, Thank you Thank you Thank you, and we will definitely be back!
