About the host
Hosted by Chris Higle
I’m semi-local, living in the Central Valley just a short drive away, and Pine Mountain Lake has always felt like a true escape for me. I love the surrounding nature, the quiet pace, and the sense of calm that comes with being in the mountains, and I hope guests experience that same feeling during their stay. This cabin is a peaceful and special place to me—it’s not about making a quick buck, but about creating a meaningful, relaxing experience. I’m not retired yet, so hosting helps support the cabin dream while allowing me to share this little piece of mountain life with others.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in the Sierra foothills and always dreamed of returning to the mountains after moving to the valley as a teen. When I discovered Pine Mountain Lake, it checked every box for the kind of true escape I had been missing. Every drive up, seeing Don Pedro Lake sparkle between the hills, I can feel myself start to relax. The air shifts, the trees close in around you, and it feels like nature’s reset button. Hosting here gives me the chance to share that same sense of calm, adventure, and reconnection with guests looking for a mountain retreat.
What makes this property unique

The experience begins with expansive deck views and a calm, relaxing ambiance that’s hard to find. The cabin blends modern comfort with classic cabin charm, offering an open, airy feel while still feeling cozy and grounded in nature. With its location on a quiet one-way street, the setting remains serene and undisturbed—perfect for a true mountain getaway.
