The location is wonderful. Nice big yard and easy path down to the beach. The cottage is comfortable and clean.Updates needed for AC in the hot summer sunand moldy carpeting by the single window AC unit that does not adequately cool the whole cottage.Blinds or awnings needed facing lake and western sun.Property manager responsive and friendly. If updates were made we would return again.
Had an amazing time on a great property. Everything was all ready for us when we got there. Including everything we needed for a fire. My daughter said sleeping on the porch was one of the most relaxing nights she had. Very out of the way. So if you want a time away from people this place is great. Also communication was wonderful. Even when i called because i was lost. Lol
Warning we had a huge tick surprise when we had a fire at night. Ticks crawling all over us. Must spray a lot of bug spray here. Also poor WiFi would go to SOS mode often. And there was no swing as the listing had advertised. And the extra bed was in the sunroom making it a horrible place to sleep. But overall the sunsets were beautiful and the view of the lake was great. Cozy old person vibes at this cottage.
Lovely stay, beautiful property! The view and grounds were breathtaking. Cottage is old school/rustic/charming and comfortable. Could not ask for a better location!
Charming barn converted to a cottage.Very clean fit are objective of staying with easy access to beach with are 2 dogs.Dogs had some running room, didn’t have to be leashed all the time. Will the property host was great helping us find are way around the area towns. A true Lake Michigan experience. Jim D
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage on Lake Michigan with a deep family history and magnificent lake view. Will the property manager was supremely hospitable and made us feel right at home. We are sure to return!
I am giving two stars because the property location was great, right off the Lake and because VRBO was helpful in providing compensation after leaving the property early. I was expecting an older cabin, but just because a property is old, that does not excuse the poor condition of the property. The A/C amenity was just a window unit located in a hallway with multiple fans trying to blow the cold air into other spaces. This did not work and the bedrooms/living spaces were uncomfortably hot. One of the reasons we chose this property wad for the A/C and it was not adequate. In addition when we walked in we were met with a stale, musty/moldy smell. The source of the smell was poor circulation and mold on the bathroom ceiling. We have a child with asthma, and mold isn’t good for asthma. Ceiling tiles were also coming down in one of the bedrooms. We stayed one night and left early, because no matter how great the view we couldn’t enjoy it when you are not comfortable where you are staying, and worried it could affect your health. We later found another review from a few years earlier that described the property as dilapidated, and that is accurate.
This is the perfect quaint lake cabin to fit the surroundings! The view was spectacular! We had a fire every night in the fire pit. We will be back and I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a convenient place to call home base while visiting the surrounding towns. The owners are very kind and thoughtful and I loved their dog Iris!
We attended a wedding in Saugatuck and needed a place to stay. We were delighted with the view of the lake, as well as the friendliness of the caretaker, Will. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us, a first out of the many rentals we have used. A charming little cottage!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Went home early.
Great location. Very dog friendly. No beach due to high water. House was very ran down, needs major remodel.
Wonderful stay , sunset and view is fantastic, very peaceful...everything you need , my sister and myself stayed a few nights to have time away . Brought my dog , huge area for him to wander.
Everything was neat and clean. Even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy while watching sun go down .several small parks , south , to hike down to beach .thank you so much for a lovely place to stay .
Great location on Lake Mich, challenging beach access
Cottage location and Lake Michigan views excellent. Cute and quaint, but bedroom and bathroom need immediate updating. Beautiful beach, but beach access from property challenging for older adults.
The property was awesome. Perfect weather all three days. The house had everything we needed. The owner and caretaker were very friendly. Thank you for the fresh cut asparagus. Will be back.
Loved staying here for the weekend. The cottage is very cozy and has what you need. Clean as a whistle including the linens (I always check!). Host was very friendly and helpful, even gave me a good recommendation for dinner (Will, it was great, thank you). The view from the backyard is unmatched! Yard is extremely large and my dog loved exploring and running around. There is a path down to the beach, although you'll have to take a small jump or large step down off the seawall to get onto the sand, but if you are the least bit agile it is fine. Hoping I get to come back someday!
While we only stayed one night, it was wonderful! Will was a great host, and greeted us as we entered the property. He gave us a brief tour, then left us to explore.
There's SO much outdoor space, which was perfect for our dog. Sunset was amazing. Enjoying a huge bonfire under the stars was wonderful. The only downside was a neighbor's hour-long fireworks show, which terrified my dog, and disturbed my bonfire experience. Of course, that was beyond the host's control.
We'd definitely go back!
The cottage is perfectly adequate for a family of 5 or 6 to stay in. We were looking for an alternative to renting a camping cabin and this was excellent. Plenty to do in nearby South Haven and there is a park with a beach just down the road from the cottage.
The property itself is rather large and features a fire pit, gazebo, swings, and lots of grass to run around in. There is also the view of the lake as well.
The TV has all the modern streaming apps to kip younger kids occupied. Good wifi as well.
We had a great time and recommend this to anyone.
This is a great place with a super friendly caretaker, Will. The cabin was perfect for the two of us with 2 bedrooms and small bath. There's a sitting area inside facing Lake Michigan or lots of outdoor seating on a really large lawn area overlooking the lake. We weren't able to access the shoreline easily due to erosion but if you can get down there (I did!), it's beautiful. Wonderful sunsets and close to Holland, Douglas & Saugatuck but private and quiet fr cozy nights. We'll definitely be back to enjoy this property again!

Why they chose this property
Our Story.... begins every spring with the first of the guests that arrive after a seemingly long and gray winter season. We have always eagerly awaited the arrival of the families; some with children that can not wait to kick off shoes and run down the beach. There are the folks with the children being full grown and will enjoy a day or several - with them and the grandchildren, to enjoy the calming sound of Lake Michigan waves or the comfort of the country air to breathe. Certainly the wonderful friends that have returned year after year.
