Osprey Cottage - Modern, Guest House

Osprey Cottage is a recently renovated modern guest cottage on Sunshine Road in Deer Isle, with many updated amenities. This cottage is a birder’s and naturalist's haven, situated on 4 acres of spruce forest, field, and yard, with tidal shoreline frontage on Pickering Cove. Enjoy all the conveniences of home and beautiful views, in this bright, cozy seaside cottage.

Osprey Cottage has one full bathroom and two cozy bedrooms with ceiling fans. The first with a double bed and the second with a queen bed. The well-lit bathroom has new tile throughout with a walk-in shower, washer and dryer, and laundry prep area. The stairs into the house are minimal and once inside the space is one level and easy to maneuver.

The living area is an open-concept with soaring ceilings, lots of sunlight and a wall of windows with woodland and water views. The living room is furnished with a comfortable loveseat, armchair, bench and coffee table. The modern kitchen is well-equipped with a new dishwasher, electric range, and refrigerator. The dining nook is set for four, with lovely views of the yard and cove.

Osprey cottage has a furnished deck on the water side. Enjoy quiet evenings watching the cove from this sweet vantage point or walk to the shore where you can watch the tides come and go.

There are short walking trails throughout the 4 acres including a path from the cottage to the cove. Seasonal birdfeeders and native plants attract wildlife and 74 bird species have been documented on the property. Ospreys nest on nearby islands and are seen daily along with cormorants, gulls, warblers and deer. Information is provided on local nearby nature preserves.

A Wonderful Week on the Water

This year was our third year staying on Deer Isle and the second year using the Island Agency. While initially we wanted to stay at a different property, we were extremely pleased with Grace's Getaway. The cottage was immaculate, a wonderful experience, and well stocked, and the owner was a delight.

A Fantastic Getaway

The Osprey Cottage, along with the owners, are absolutely wonderful. The cottage was spotless, modern, and equiped with a bunch of amenities, making it well worth reserving. With gorgeous views of the cove, the property is abundant in wildlife -- eagles, ravens, osprey, deer, and the occasional rambling turkey. It is truly a naturalist haven, minutes away from plentiful hikes. This was our second year and we will surely be back.

Comfortable, Quiet, Well Outfitted Cottage

Grace's Getaway is a comfortable and quiet cottage, outfitted with everything you'll need. Ceiling fans and A/C if you need it. Good laundry. A quick stroll to the water, where there's a beautiful, serene view. If you're doing a workshop at Haystack, it's a quick drive there. Would definitely stay again.

CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be in writing (email is acceptable) and received by the Agent. Cancellations may only be made between the date that a reservation deposit is received and a date determined to be 45 days prior to the Guests’ scheduled arrival date. Cancellations within 45 days of arrival will not result in a refund in whole or part of rental funds received. If a cancellation is made prior to 45 days of arrival, the Agent shall make a good-faith effort to re-rent the property at the published rate for the reserved rental term. No refund of rents paid will be made until the cancelled period is re-rented and confirmed. If the cancelled period is re-rented, any rent and taxes paid will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. If the new rental amount is less than the published rate, any difference in rental rate will be deducted from the rental returned to the tenant. If the unit is not re-rented, all rental funds paid, processing fees and taxes shall be forfeited as damages.
This cancellation policy is strictly followed. Guests are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for all vacations to cover many situations that may arise which might cause one to cancel vacation plans. Life happens and we don’t want you to lose your deposit. There are many independent insurance providers available to tenants. I understand that the insurance company holds this policy and that The Island Agency does not determine eligibility of claims.
