We are Americans who love beautiful homes and nature. We spend many months in this gated community over Portalon -- and our friends and family who visit love this place, too. Now we built a terrific 2-story 2-bedroom "casita" guest house, with its own swimming pool. Also, as VRBO/Homeaway hosts we get great reviews -- for a house in Umbria (in Italy) we also offer: just search VRBO for 795761 and see how Dori is the perfect host -- and the quality of her homes.
Why they chose this property
Wow! We wanted a gated community that works well, with good privacy combined with a sense of safety. The town of Portalon, at the bottom of the hill (an exercise walk, especially returning up!) (it's a 5-minute drive down to the gate and the town), is friendly with a little grocery store. Ten minutes away is Matapalo (stores and restaurants) with its wonderful quiet endless beach. Playa Linda is 5 more minutes, on the way to surfing town Dominical (a lot of restaurants, but low-key). This is not the busy tourist-filled part of Costa Rica. But 20 minutes north on the excellent-quality Costanera highway are Quepos (lots of stores) and Manuel Antonio (with its touristy buzz and the famous national park). Often we drive from San Jose, but Sansa and Green Airways flights are just 22 minutes from S.J. to Quepos (and rent a car there : It must be a 4x4 for our community's hilly road.) The tropical birds and the gentle jungle sounds at night are soothing.
What makes this property unique
Our 2-bedroom house with its own pool is brand new! We are offering a special low price, so guests can discover us (and write good reviews please)! While you need a 4-wheel drive car to get up to the house (the community has a gate, and then our property has a gate), it is easier than many other rental properties. Also -- our washer and dryer! Not everybody gives you that! We think you'll agree the kitchen is very well equipped. And we will give you contacts for any questions you have: need tours? chef? advice on where to go? where to buy things? need a handyman? We've got you covered!
