Lovely place, great location lots of beautiful wildlife. If you like a Hard bed you will be happy. Outdoor furniture needs to be cleaned also needs attention to spiders and cobwebs.

Nice little place in an amazing location. Waking up to kangaroos, emus and kookaburras... even had a deer in the driveway.
Cottage was clean and tidy, perfect for a family or two couples.

Great location with close proximity to town & hikes. Inside clean but outdoor space needs attention. Patio furniture dirty & soaked through due to rain & leaking awning. No BBQ & only one firewood log for 3 night stay.Overall attention to detail lacking but enjoyed the wildlife & surrounds.
Cosy inside eventhough freezing outside. Perfect place, fully equipped for a family, great location, Kangaroos included.
Communication was prompt and helpful.
Highly recommended!
Amazing location. Loved the wildlife, was not happy even after checking with the property manager if it was safe to travel due to the bushfire( was informed it was safe to travel) was not informed that the national park and all attractions were closed.

just ok
Went in the Easter holidays, Property needs a bit of TLC as paint chipping off the walls, curtains not opening evenly, needs more lighting inside the house, some areas in porch with no roof, outdoors area needed a bit of maintenance. But good wi-fi, easy to use Smart TV with Netflix, Board games, cooking needs if you forget to bring was well thought of. Towels and linens provided were good. No trash bags to replace full ones though. Close to town centre but not too busy so good area. Close to walking tracks as well.
Nice property with lovely wood fired heater and great space. The property is easy walking distance to Brambruk Cultural Centre and town.
We did have some problems. There was no hot water for showering or dishwashing on the third day. I assume the gas had run out. There was little toilet paper and no dustpan and brush.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay in Halls Gap. The hot water is run on gas and we have two bottles so that when one runs out you can easily switch to the other bottle for instant hot water.
We enjoyed our stay at Banksia Cottage. Nothing bad to say. There is one thing though that would have made our stay and arriving in particular even better. It was +40 when we got there and probably even hotter inside. Had to wait around 3 hours with the air-con on before we were able to enjoy ourselves (sitting directly under it). The air-con seemed to have a timer setting so the property owner could have contacted us regarding our arrival time and maybe cooled the cottage before hand. Other than that nice backyard, lots of wild animals, comfy beds and everything worked nicely in the kitchen.

Thanks for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Banksia Cottage.
We are sorry that you had to turn the airconditioner on yourself, unfortunately the house is not equipped with automation so we cant turn it on remotly and we are not located on site.
We are glad that everything else met your expectations as we try hard to please our guests.
Well equipped kitchen, enjoyed quiet location with abundant wildlife. Comfortable bed. Found wifi and tv all worked well.

NEEDS SOME TLC
Though it may have won the 2008 Award it certainly could do with a freshen up now. Curtains just hanging, backdoor extremely difficult to close/lock, gutters that were a waterfall onto the verandah - hiking shoes got even wetter than what the weather threw at us. It just needs some TLC to bring it back. Location was great. Wildlife plentiful. A great area.
The cottage was cosy and very well equipped. Good location, but just a bit noisy for us with the school camp and with cars coming to the trail heads nearby. It was nice to sit out on the deck and watch the kangaroos in the garden - especially a joey!
We had a a great stay in Halls Gap - Perfect location, close to everything including walking tracks. Not that we watched much TV but only 1 tv station worked and Foxtel was not working

This place is in a beautiful location, and in a quiet area located close to the Boronia Peak walking tracks. We were disappointed that there was no BBQ as stated in the description, the beds were hard, and a tiny milk for coffee wasn’t complimentary.
The cottage is ideal for a short get away. Easy to access shops, walking trails and any number of outdoor activities and just as good to curl up on the couch with a good book in front of the fireplace
We loved our stay, the most comfortable beds. It was everything we needed as well as having walks at our doorstep. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you
This was such a lovely place to stay. All necessary amenities in the house. Fantastic cooling with fans and air-conditioning. Loved the visiting wildlife! Cockatoos to chat with in the morning and kangaroos and deer wandering into the back yard. Bliss! The mountain views on all sides were breathtaking. I'm sad to be going home.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we would be very happy to have you stay again.
A lovely cosy cottage on a quiet lane, perfect for a winter getaway. I visited for two nights with a friend and we found everything we needed for a quiet, chatty weekend away.
Living room was cosy and warm, with both a wood-fired stove and an aircon unit. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, cooking equipment and a basic supply of condiments. Oven worked well. Really nice wine glasses which is unusual for holiday rentals!
The back verandah is covered so we were able to sit out even when it was raining, which was nice.
Bathroom had a stand-in shower but no bath. Washing machine was not working.
Both double beds had electric blankets on, but there is no heating in the bedrooms so they did get chilly overnight with the doors closed. There were extra blankets but it wasn't so comfortable sitting up to read in the morning. We were provided with just enough wood to make up a fire on both evenings but if we had wanted a fire going all day we would have had to buy more.
There is no wifi and coverage is basic with Vodafone but pretty reasonable with Telstra.
Best of all was the mob of kangaroos hanging out in the garden! During the day there were at least a dozen but around sunset we could see well over 40 in the playing field behind the garden. Just lovely. I suppose if you were looking for a garden for kids to play in this would not be so useful, but we loved it.
The house is right beside the Boronia Trail and around 10 minutes walk from the centre of Halls Gap.
Janet was a helpful guest and prompt with her responses. I left a piece of clothing at the house and she was able to help me get it back via the cleaner.
Would recommend this house for couples or families with older children who don't mind sharing a bed.
