About this property
On the water! Rain guarantee. Boat lift. AC. Pontoon boat, SUP's, Kayaks, canoe.
Rain guarantee: If there are two or more "inside-only" days in a week, we will let you shift the dates, extend (so long as no conflicting bookings), get a discount, or rebook last-minute to a different week ... we'll work with you, because we want you to enjoy your cabin rental.
This cabin has one of the best locations on Lake Ripley. - Directly on the lake (no road between cabin and lake) - Private (no public beach or group access nearby; private dock) - North side (great breezes, sunsets, and road for walking) - Large property (formerly an orchard, still with apples, pears and cherries and other mature landscaping, including oaks and native plants) - New modern pier - Lakefront deck - Quiet single-family-home neighbors
The midcentury decor is updated with new appliances, central AC, remodeled bathroom with walk-in shower, new beds and bedding, and fast internet. Single-level, one step up to enter the cabin.
From the dock you can fish, swim, or launch one of our many SUP paddle boards, canoe, rowboat, or pontoon boat. An extra boat lift allows you to bring your own motorboat (for rear-engine single-hull boats). Fast boating only allowed between 11:00 am - 7:30 pm (although mostly concentrated on weekends). Other times reserved for those with a slower pace (kayaks, swimmers, fishing).
Closest city is Cambridge, a gem with a quintessential American small-town main street, pottery/arts community, good restaurants & coffee-shop & ice cream (and laundry). Madison is a short drive away. Other nearby attractions include Camrock trail system, a winery, drive-in movies, and oval racetrack.

The cabin was exactly as advertised and the cabin was homey and well-loved. We had everything we needed and more.. It felt very much like my grandparents cabin that I stayed in as a child. The host clearly loves the cabin and was very accommodating. Would highly recommend!!!
Had an amazing vacation in this adorable cottage! We took our elderly Mom on a little retreat. This place offered us everything we needed and more. It was easy for her to maneuver around with her walker and we even managed to get down to the pier. She loved every minute of it! Didn’t spend much time outside on the grounds as the mosquitoes were horribly thick but the enclosed porch allowed us to comfortably see the lake. The hosts were very accommodating and were quick to respond to any questions we had. You can tell they put a lot of thought into making sure you had everything you needed and more. The lake was clean, perfect for kayaking and there’s a little beach for swimming. The local restaurants had great food and there were some really nice hiking trails nearby. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to return!
This was our second time renting this wonderful lake house full of nostalgia. With its classic lake house styling and retro decor, it was so easy to put away the phone and enjoy all of the amenities of simpler times. We listened to records, played games, and enjoyed doing puzzles out on the porch overlooking the beautiful lake. If you can force yourself out of the coziness of the cabin, there is a wonderful dock for nature watching (we saw a bald Eagle), fishing, sunbathing and swimming. The Snellman’s offer a pontoon boat at no additional charge and we spent hours tootling around on the lake. Our family also enjoyed paddle boarding on the lake. There is a fire pit for s’mores and star gazing. The town of Cambridge is a quaint town minutes away with some wonderful places to enjoy breakfast and coffee or to have dinner at Plow. Lake Mills is also a sweet little town with a great brewery, Sunshine Brewing Company. We did pub trivia on Wednesday night and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and awesome beer. Lake Mills is also the place to go for lunch on Fridays when the American Legion opens up their storefront and sells the most delicious hamburgers and cheeseburgers. We enjoyed them in the park across the street. There is also a classic Drive-In theater near this cabin, so there is no shortage of fun things to do around the area. The Snellman’s were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for the classic lake house experience!
Everyone enjoyed their time at this property. Having a cabin with lakefront, a dock, and a pontoon made this extra special. I grew up with my grandparents having a home on Lake Ripley so I knew how special this area is. We loved the fishing, the swimming, the boating and the quiet of the lake. Very clean and homey.
Darling cabin on a great lake, with pontoon included!
We had such a good time at this cabin and would definitely stay there again! The living room area included several comfy chairs for the whole gang, the kitchen included some extra items like keurig coffee options, spices and other basics, plates, plastic utensils, etc. We appreciated use of bath and beach towels, much needed as we took every opportunity to spend time on the pontoon and jumping into the lake. It's rare to find a cabin with a boat so meant a lot to us so we didn't have to rent and haul one in. We enjoyed a couple campfires by the water and used the grill as well. We all tried standup paddle boarding which was easier than expected, as we took the canoe to the beach area while one family member (training for the Ironman) swam beside us. It was so great to have so many fun things to do and use. An unexpected bonus was the dishwasher and the only thing missing was the swinging bench in the pic, but it was replaced by 4 nice adirondack chairs around the fire. I'd highly recommend this property and the owner was extremely responsive, more than generous with accommodating a special request.
Everything I remember about my childhood Summertime experiences on Lake Ripley! Vintage style with modern amenities. Wonderful to have our own dock and the easy to operate pontoon boat to cruise the lake. Birds, fireflies, fish, turtles brought us so much delight! The lake is beautifully clear and clean. We could see to the bottom. Thank you for this memorable time!!
While we stayed here, I couldn’t help but think of a simpler time, a more peaceful time. The cottage was charming and everything you would want a classic lake cottage to be. The pontoon boat was a lovely addition, and we used it often to enjoy the peaceful lake and beautiful sunsets. Many memorable summer memories were created for our family. We will definitely return.
We very much enjoyed our stay this past week. My partner and I as well as my 80 year old parents and 10 and 12 nephew and niece stayed in the cabin for the week.
The cabin is older but bathroom toilets, sink and shower as well as the kitchen appliances are all updated. There are two room air conditioners that did a great job keeping the cabin cool, as needed.
Having the boat was fantastic. The lake in parts is weedy. This property does not have a beach front but there is a beach and park area within a couple miles on the lake. The paddle boards were fantastic as is the fishing in the lake and off the dock. It’s on a walkable/bailable road, which we did nearly every day, and within a couple miles of Cambridge. A super cute little town with coffee shops and shopping boutiques. And it’s not far from Lake Mills, we traveled to their beach a couple days, too.
It was a great week and we appreciate the opportunity to use the boat!
We had a wonderful time relaxing at this wonderful property around the lake. Jussi and Rosemary were very responsive and courteous throughout the process. We couldn't have had a better time!
Retro lake cabin. Wonderfully stocked kitchen. Comfy beds and stylish bedding. Awesome dock. Amazing lake-love the no wake mornings. Needs deep clean- lots of spider webs. Electrical needs attention-frequently blows a fuse.

Thanks for the feedback. We did have a few kinks to work out, as you were the very first guest. We have hired a new housekeeper, and the electrician has repaired the tripping circuit breaker.

Why they chose this property
Step back in time to a more peaceful lifestyle, with sunsets, swimming and indoor/outdoor Wisconsin summers. All the boats are available to use, including a pontoon boat, two rowboats, and a canoe ... along with standup paddle boards. We keep it immaculate, with pesticide-free lawns (so run around with bare feet without any concerns). All guest who are under 18 must know how to swim!
