Frequently asked questions
About the host
Hosted by Ali Snowden
I am originally from California. I moved to the area to become a wilderness guide in 2020. I fell in love with the land and community and decided to make this place my home. My favorite part of being a host is getting to share this beautiful place and meet people from around the world.
Why they chose this property
This place is extraordinary! The town itself is split between high desert featuring sage, juniper and cottonwoods and mountains featuring ponderosa pines, scrub oak and aspens. In 20 minutes you can be high up in The Platas mountains or in the cliff dwellings in Sand Canyon or Mesa Verde.
We also want to acknowledge the land that Mancos, CO is situated upon is the ancestral land and territory of the Nuuchiu (Ute) people who were forcibly removed by the United States Government. We also acknowledge that this land is connected to the communal and ceremonial spaces of the Jicarilla Abache (Apache), Pueblos of New Mexico, Hopi Sinom (Hopi), and Diné (Navajo) Nations. It is important to acknowledge this setting because the narratives of the lands in this region have long been told from dominant perspectives, without full recognition of the original land stewards who continue to inhabit and connect with this land. Thank you for your attention and respect in acknowledging this important legacy.

What makes this property unique
The property was originally built and owned by a local artist. Many of his prints are featured in the cabin and his artistry and quirk are still featured throughout the property.
