Thank you for your stage Jennifer. I appreciate your long, long visit. You work a lot. Glad you were able to get peace and quiet in the cottage. See you on your next assignment!
I enjoyed my stay at this quiet and safe cottage tucked away. It is close to some great restaurants and also easy to jump on the freeway. I will be coming back for sure!
Centrally situated, secure location. Property was clean and very nicely furnished and maintained. Owner was very responsive to our inquiries and needs. We enjoyed the privacy and comfort of the property. Had a great time and will return next time in Albuquerque.
Had most everything I needed. Was smaller and more expensive than my prior weeks accommodations. I would stay here again if other accommodations weren’t available.
This compact VRBO had everything we needed including shampoo, soap and plenty of towels. The patio was lovely with blooming flowered trees. Good restaurants not to far away. Being near Rt 66 was a bit of nostalgia and old town was close by. Make sure to visit the Petroglyph NP. And the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
Compact apartment well suited for 2. Very nicely appointed and well equipped. Little things I appreciated were things like tissues and paper towels in the unit so you didn't have to buy them.
Very comfortable.
will most likely book again as we come to ABQ to visit family.
Quick and easy access to freeway. Great mattress, bedding and plush pillows! The casita is well maintained, safe and private - not visible from the street. The architecture is charming. Sweet backyard. The renter in the house on this property said that she and her family return every year. I can definitely understand why☀️

Long term stay
Bed was comfy
Air Conditioning, really good
Plenty of supplies
Internet good
Kitchen table/bar super rickety
Coffee table rickety
Stove needs exhaust fan
Shower curtain is maddening
Blind on living room window is missing string to raise.
Deadbolt on garden door…you have to lock it from both sides, pain in the butt especially at 5am with no light

Modern and Clean
Modern and very clean. The bed was very comfy. Very convenient to all the restaurants, Isotope baseball field, and University of Mexico.
Drawbacks: The shower was really small. The location is in the City where there is a lot of petty theft. The owner said that he has not had any burglaries and requested that we lock the vehicles and leave nothing inside.
It was also necessary to keep all windows and doors locked at the unit and keep a light on at night.

As the owner of 1600 Silver Southeast, I take my guest's happiness and safety during their stay, as my first priority. This guest arrived three hours late at 1am in the morning and I was there, as always, to greet them and give them the lay of the land. I believe it's important for each guest to know where extra paper supplies, linens, iron and ironing board etc. are located in the unit because the property is so unique and it makes for a less stressful stay. I explained the proximity of restaurants and areas of interest to them, upon arrival, so they could hit the ground running the next day. As I was leaving the property, I noticed that the vehicle they were driving had their luggage still inside. I returned to the unit and explained that they should not leave anything in their truck because it's a temptation for break-in. I wish it were different in America, but this is common in areas near universities. In the same vein, leaving doors and windows open, when you're not at the property, just is not a good idea.
Come stay with us on your next visit to Albuquerque. I have only rented this unit for a few months and I had two return guests already and have one return booking for mid May.

This was separated from the house, with shared tenants, but surprisingly quiet. Silver Street has beautiful old houses, built apparently around 1913-1925, which is probably why I liked the houses on that street. The kitchen was clean, the bed was comfortable (considering I am recovering from a neck injury) and the A/C worked. I did not really drive around, the streets around the area are crowded, but it was a nice little place to stay. Simple suggestions- the washing machine was moldy, maybe get a new one, and have everyone use non-toxic 7th generation free and clear for those of us that are very allergic to Tide/All....and a screen to the front door, lots of mosquitos. Other than that, good stay.
I had a great stay for the entire month of May at Douglas' back property. Clean, quiet, and rustic/modern with a beautiful garden full of fresh vegetables and fruit trees. The kitchen was fully stocked making it easy to prepare full meals, or just enjoy coffee on a daily basis in the courtyard. The bed was comfortable, and there was ample storage for clothes. It's a quaint unit, and while it is shared with other renters on the other side of the bedroom wall, I only saw another group in the garden once during an entire month, making it really quite private and tranquil. The locked gate from the street into the walled garden added to the feeling of safety and calm just outside my unit door. Laundry on-site was just below the apartment and always available. It's about a 5–15 minute walk to various bars, restaurants, and shops depending on where you're trying to go, and Silver Ave closeby is a gorgeous stroll. I would recommend solo travelers or couples stay here, and I would certainly return again :)

Lovely little Casita
My friend and I very much enjoyed our stay at this cozy little casita. We liked the neighborhood near the University and the location was very convenient for getting around and out of the city using I-25 and Route 40. The only issues I would mention are the rather noisy heating unit which makes it difficult to sleep soundly as it kicks on and off all night. Also one night during our stay there was a large group of people partying in the adjoining unit and we could hear every footstep, door and cabinet slam as if they were with us in our unit. Thankfully they were only there for one night. We never met Doug but Ivan was there to let us in and show us around when we arrived. The kitchen is nice with a beautiful gas range but it could be better stocked as we only found a few frying pans, no pots for making stews or soups. But all-in-all a beautiful little place - very well-designed and comfortable. If the heating unit could be switched out (or if you are going at a time of year when it is not needed) then it is just about perfect.

Truly sorry for the party going on that night at the property. A call would have had someone there within 15 minutes to put a stop to it. The 98% efficient heating system was installed two years ago. There is a switch to keep the fan running on low so you would not be able to detect it turning on and off. I highly recommend guests just call with their concerns. I called you the day of your first stay and you mentioned the party. It was too late to do anything about it because the people were gone by then. You did not say one word about the pots you wanted (I could have had someone bring some from my house down the street in minutes) or about the heating. This has been a vacation rental for five years and my reviews have been stellar. I strive to make everyone's experience wonderful. I have put in Xfinity cable with all the channel because of a guest review. I got a new powerful router because of a guest review. I poured a concrete driveway in front of the garage because of a guest request for off street parking. This property is a VERY LUXURIOUS ACCOMMODATION! No expense was spared. I do not discount input from guest. Really, what can I do if I am not informed?????
Stayed here during the Balloon Fiesta. Good location. Relatively close to the Balloon Fields, just minutes from Old Town and Downtown. We had a good comfortable stay.
House was perfect for an extended business stay! Doug was very helpful. House was clean, ample parking, great courtyard and ability to grill. It was just like being home. Close to Old Town, Santa Fe and the University. Will definitely be booking again.

Over priced and not very comfortable
The pictures of the space looked great on the website. The layout of the house was very awkward. The lighting in the bedroom was unusabale. The bedroom has little to no room to relax in .We had little to no privacy in the rental as there was not adequate window coverings for the space. I would not recommend this property for the price. Overall it was a very uncomfortable space. The furniture was too big for the living space. My wife banged her head on one of the tables and I left home with some bruises on my legs from hitting the furniture. We would've been better off had we stayed at a hotel for the same price.

James clearly does not understand the VRBO.com home sharing experience. He never let me know any of his numerous complaints until this review he wrote. I suggest reading the previous reviews that are extremely positive. Now to delve into his issues. In the bedrooms I have blackout shades and have black out draperies. There is a chandelier in the bedroom that casts plenty of light. The living room has a huge window with a shade that pulls down for privacy. The room that he is complaining that doesn't have a shade is the kitchen. And I haven't put in a shade in the kitchen because it looks over the garden. It's highly unlikely someone's in the garden, among the dirt and flowers looking in. If that were the case I would suggest calling the police, LOL All the other reviews commented how the pictures are exactly as they found the home. James was obviously not looking to find an historic, restored 1908 home to stay in. Good luck James in finding a hotel room with a chefs kitchen and a lovely patio and garden right outside the door. He obviously has more issues than I can comment on in this reply. Come stay at the Casita. Its your oasis in Albuquerque.

A Charming Retreat
This is a lovely property. The gardens are amazing. The house is well-equipped and spotless; comfortable bed, cozy living room, fluffy towels, great kitchen and supplies (utensils, spices, oil, etc. ad inf.), lots of plugs and good wifi service, efficient heat and air. Excellent washer and dryer...all the conveniences of home in a vacation environment. And birds galore.
The neighborhood was quiet even though it's in the heart of the university district and we were there during graduation week. We saw a super fireworks show at the stadium nearby, it was great. The location is convenient to seeing all the attractions in Albuquerque and for venturing off to surrounding sites, such as Santa Fe.
Doug is very personable and helpful.
I would return in a minute if I didn't have other destinations on my bucket list. It was even more than I anticipated. Don't hesitate to rent this property!

Great Little Rental
I would highly recommend this rental. Doug was great to work with and it was obvious that he puts a lot of thought and care into his properties. The casita was spotless and well stocked, perfect for a couple or a single person. We entertained my brother in-law and his daughter, cooking out on the large gas grill and dinning and relaxing with a bottle of wine in the private backyard.
There is a full size washer and dryer, soap included, in the basement so you can pack less and do a little laundry as needed. We had an issue with the lock on the gate leading into the patio and a call to Doug had it fixed within the hour.
We liked everything about this rental and will certainly rent either this, or if we need more space, one of the other larger rentals offered by Doug next time we are in New Mexico.

Clean, comfortable, convenient
Thanks, Doug, for putting so much thought into this rental space. The entrance is through a sweet little back yard, with a blossoming fruit tree and patio with well kept wooden furniture. I enjoyed using this space for evening meals, and morning tea. Aside from some traffic noise on the next block, the patio felt so far from the middle of the city. Inside, the living area is comfortable, and steps lead to the small kitchen with all the utensils and items to really settle in. The bedroom is peaceful and dark, with plenty of storage space. The best part of the interior is the French style bathroom. Albeit, a bit ackward the first time I stepped into the shower, it was definitely a little room I enjoyed being in.
One thing to be aware of is that the unit is connected to a larger (also beautiful) rental, and in the bedroom, the movements and steps across the floor from there, come straight in. It didn't bother me, but if one is looking for a stand alone space, and is sensitive to the noise of other renters, this may not be ideal.
This was a very convenient location for a workshop I attended, and I would have liked to spend more time here.
Thank you!

In 1991 I opened a jewelry manufacturing company in Albuquerque. After 22 years of success, it's about time to start a new career path. The VRBO experience has been very fulfilling. I have enjoyed meeting all the guests from around the world. Movie producers from France and other parts, a university professor from Germany stayed six months, twice now, and one couple decided to stay and live at one of furnished the single family homes. They have been there three years now.
Why they chose this property
The location of Silver Hill Casita makes it the ideal starting point for an Albuquerque experience. It is set in a walkable, well established neighborhood just a couple blocks from UNM campus and Presbyterian Hospital No busy roads to navigate to get to the places popular among the locals. And if you have one too many. You can always stroll home.
What makes this property unique
Super comfy queen sized bed. Full chefs kitchen with the necessary appliances and utensils. A gas grill for the big BBQ's. The owner loves to garden. So if you visit in season, prepare to have lots of fresh tomato salads!
