Close to Elk Mountain
Our family and dog enjoyed this clean, well appointed home for the second time for a weekend ski trip. We hope to come back to The Lazy Bear Lodge again next year.
Great stay, plenty of room and we all enjoyed the home and the surrounding grounds. Would stay again gladly.
In winter you will want a vehicle that can drive on rural roads if you have snow, which we had no issues. Great place.
We were very happy with the property. The house was ideal for us, one floor and wooden floors. My grandchildren really enjoyed the fishing and hiking. We had a great time.
As a repeated visitor, my family and I always enjoy spending time at Lazy Bear Lodge. It’s a wonderful place to create wonderful memories. Even though the weather wasn’t the greatest we still had a wonderful time. The atmosphere is calming and refreshing. Looking forward to visiting again.
Great lodge only 10 min from Elk Mountain. Had an awesome weekend. Place is so spacious and has great property for the dogs to run. It was clean and had an awesome kitchen and living room space. Really got much more than we expected. Thank you!!
I love nature so this was the perfect place for us! Peaceful! A cute pond on the premises which you can catch and release! And these two cute little chipmunks playing in the yard; my Yorkie kept gazing at them.
Will stay again!
We have big dogs and wanted to be able to be off-leash without worry and this property was perfect for that. The house is simple and sweet, lots of directions and maps posted around the house. Not fancy but very comfy and easy. Only tiny complaint was figuring out the shower in the small bathroom is a trick.
The Lazy Bear Lodge is beautiful! A great location for bird watching, hiking and star gazing. I loved the privacy. I needed a retreat and the lodge was just perfect! Equipped with all we needed. Loved the jacuzzi bath tub! Sandy, our host gave us great information and instruction on entry and was just s text message away. I hope I can return soon!

Ski-Ski-Ski
We want to stay longer so we can enjoy all the extras; like hiking-games-fire pit and so on. It is a home away from home for us. So easy to get to, unpack and settle in. So clean and comfortable. Wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
This house is wonderful for so many reasons. Plenty of space, so clean, great location, beautiful views, ease of property and drive. House has a welcoming feel with all the information needed clearly laid out within the home. You feel like you just walked into your own vacation home.

The view from the front porch is AMAZING and Peaceful.
Very nice, clean, spacious home, with more stocked items than anywhere else I've stayed. The view from the front porch is AMAZING! You can; see a mountain on the left, watch the sun rise and set, see lightening bugs and listen to the crickets chirping at night, hear the birds singing, see bunnies hopping right in front of you, squirrels busily running around, deer crossing the driveway and an occasional chipmunk. It is so beautiful and peaceful.
This place is amazing. My husband and I have been doing our vacations via VRBO since Covid. This is one of the nicest homes we stayed in. The house was spotless, kudo’s to the cleaning team. It was also well stocked throughout the house. The property grounds were beautiful. There are tons of blueberry bushes, it was too early for us to pick, but I bet in a month or so it will be quite a treat. You will not be disappointed booking this VRBO! Once again, I’d like to thank the owners for sharing this gem with us.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location
When first pulling up to the property, we were in awe of all the beautiful trees in their autumn color. The house sits way up on a hill with wonderful views. Lots of wildlife to see. We had deer, rabbits, coyote (we heard) and even a visit from a bear (he stayed far away). There was a ton of room in this large house and had lots of things for people who stay here to use or play with! The two fire pits were hard for us gals to get to, as the one was grown over a lot and the other was pretty far from the house. We had a great time!
We stayed the weekend at Lazy Bear Lodge with my teenage son, teenage niece, 10 year old nephew and small puppy. The kids loved the swing set and trails in the backyard. Our puppy was in wonderland running around free! Blueberry bushes were a sweet touch :) The house is so comfy and clean. AC was nice and cool. House has several amenities and kitchen appliances/ utensils etc. Would love to come back in the Fall and Winter :) Sandy was so quick to text anytime we had a question. Thank you so much!

Peaceful and Rejuvenating
If you are looking for a quiet getaway in the hills of Pennsylvania close to the ski resort of Elk Mountain...this is it! I cannot say enough about this property. It was everything we hoped it would be and MORE. Secluded enough but still close enough to enjoy shops and stores and ELK MOUNTAIN! We went for walks up and down the small country (paved) road and met a delight of a donkey named Jessie. Of course I fell in love. We had camp fires in the firepit across the tiny trickling stream which overlooked a gorgeous field with unbelievable sunset views. Morning runs up and down the road we're good for my soul and the brisk clean air was needed! Again, I can't say enough about this place except that I want to go back and LIVE THERE! Absolute HEAVEN!
Great place to stay. The house was very nice, modern, clean, and spacious. We stayed with our dogs and the grounds were perfect for them. There is a very nice trail around the property with lots of well-maintained lawns to walk the dogs. We were attending an event at Camp Chen-a-Wanda and the house was conveniently located to camp.
We had a handicapped person with us who was using a walker. The walk-in shower was great for that. To get to the 4 steps leading to the front door, she had to walk up a grassy hill which was challenging with a walker. A sidewalk would have been nice. Also, the front porch light was burned out.
The only drawback was that a local contact was not available by telephone. The televisions were not working when we arrived. After we called the phone contact that was in Colorado, someone came the next day and fixed the television in the living room but the television in the bedroom never worked. Also, for our last night the power went out. With no local contact available by telephone, we were unsure how to proceed. However, the host graciously gave us credit for the last night.

Lovely place to disappear into the mountains!
For our anniversary, we wanted someplace where we could bring our dogs, relax, enjoy nature, and hike without worry. This home fit the bill perfectly! We were absolutely spoiled by the comfortable, open layout and the lovely private hiking trail right outside our door. We had no problem navigating to the home using Google maps but I do recommend arriving during the day if you can, we were traveling after work and it's easy to forget just how dark it can be out there! Arriving in the pitch dark and finding all the lights with excited dogs in tow was a little chaotic. Other than that, checking in and getting settled was easy, and there were helpful informative signs and maps all over the house. This was a perfect blend of outdoorsy and creature comforts, and was easily the most pet friendly stay we've ever had. The dogs settled in right away and enjoyed wildlife watching through the windows, hiking on long lines, and tracking the deer smells through the property. They can sometimes be reactive when we travel, so the fact that we didn't have to worry about the sounds of traffic or neighbors arriving home, or running into other hikers while out exploring meant all of us got the chance to truly decompress and recharge. The home itself was clean and comfortable with practical amenities and plenty of space, with a large double shower and jetted tub in the en suite bathroom and a great media setup, all perfect for relaxing after a good day of hiking and campfires. Pack a good pair of waterproof boots, some flashlights or headlamps, and plenty of snacks and you will have a lovely time! We definitely felt bittersweet about our trip ending, and we hope to come back for a longer visit soon!
