This is our second year back at the Shell Lake Cabin and we love it. The lake is the best lake. The beach gets 5 stars. We just love our time here. Trying to find dates to do it again next summer!

Great, quiet little spot, it’s a cabin exactly like you’d expect at a small lake in rural-ish Wisconsin. Everything functioned as it should, and was very clean. Just know that cabins with lots of wilderness around might have some bugs, we know this is a constant battle with places such as this and we have no problems at all with it. Ample parking, gorgeous sunrises out the east facing windows with the lake right there. The host was amazing and even stopped by during my stay to change out the air filter on the HVAC unit. Thanks guys! Highly recommend!

Clean, well stocked, great communication with owner. Bed was super comfortable and towels & linens were great! Lots of firewood - although confusing, at first, on where it was located since its on a neighboring property. Would love to come back in the summer because the beach, lounge chairs on the beach and lake look amazing! Bring your own pillows because the ones provided are very thin. Tiny bar soaps were provided for washing hands so we went and bought liquid hand soap. (Im just personally not a fan of bar soap) Listing says "Smart TV" but we couldnt figure out how to locate apps and there are no tv instructions. I couldve messaged owner but didnt want to bug them again. We would definitely go there again!

It’s older style cabin but it’s perfect . A/c , WiFi , fire pit , right on lake . Swimming is excellent as it is sandy bottom and you can go out deep as you need and not step on rocks . 12 minute walk to restaurant and bar in downtown Shell lake . Gazebo is nice but we never used it as the skeeters were not there yet .

As you can see, Jack is the type of guest who doesn’t look at pictures or read the descriptions of listings before booking a classic Shell Lake cabin. His communication was minimal and only when he wanted something that was already included in the black binder of instructions. Along with firewood and WiFi password, the binder also included instructions regarding not driving on the lawn. Jack went out of his way to drive around the fence and up to the dwelling multiple times at his convenience. My cleaning lady was just telling me that the worse condition the cabin has even been left in was by Jack. This review, almost a year later, is his retaliation for calling out his behaviors and disrespect for our property. I would not rent to him again.

Cabin by shell lake very good

Cabin was clean . Firepit was nice . We brought our boat and docked it next to cabin . Communication with owner Mindy was excellent .

Quiet and quaint

Beautiful lake setting!

The cabin was great! Only disappointment was the low lake level and inability to really fish from the dock. Perhaps allow boat rental for a couple hours?

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay! The lake has dropped quite a bit this summer and we do plan to adjust the dock accordingly next summer. Most docks around the lake didn’t even touch land this summer or they would be in such shallow water that you couldn’t pull a boat up to it. Luckily we do have about 200 feet of dock length which allows people to walk down the dock without getting wet first. Boat rental is allowed, and I wish I would have known as I would have taken the opportunity to connect you with a local company that does rent out boats. They are walking distance from the cabin and easy to get ahold of. Our insurance does not allow us to rent out motorized boats or they will drop us as our previously totaled out boat lift (storm) was a $10,000 claim. That is why we provided paddle boats, kayaks, and an aluminum boat with oars. If you decide to return let me know and I will get you connected with a pontoon rental!

Fun time

It was a wonderful week at a Great Lake! Many friends and great memories in Shell Lake and great weather too! It’s always a plus to be in Shell Lake and by the lake!

It is a nice quaint little cabin on the lake, with a great beach for younger children. Shallow water for a long ways out into the lake. Definitely not a secluded area but plenty of lawn and a nice sized private beach to relax on. The hosts were very responsive and friendly and I have no doubts that if something were to need attention they would do anything in their power to resolve it.
