LOVED the location, the decor, the design of Casa Wilma! From the large dining room table, the kitchen island, the patio & the bathtub, we enjoyed our stay.
Unique and beautiful spot that is convenient to Main Street. The host provided a cell number in the event we had any needs but everything was perfect! The view was unobstructed and gorgeous!
Loved the eclectic and unique decor. Was very well stocked with toiletries, kitchen, utensils, and more. Everything was great about the place. Beds were very comfy and the place was very clean.
This was the best stay. The house was exactly as advertised. Within walking distance to the Gage hotel if you’d want a nice meal or cocktail. The hammocks out back were amazing - several naps were taken there. Highly recommend. Everything was comfortable. Thank you for being so kind and making us feel welcome.
Everything you need to relax and enjoy! We grilled, we played a ruthless game of monopoly, a challenging game of dominos and then sat quietly on the patio gazing at the stars! Fully recharged and connected with our kids again we head home!

So glad you enjoyed your stay!!! I’m so happy to share my little slice of heaven!!
We just fell in love with Casa Wilma! The architecture and art are so interesting and the location perfect for exploring the park and the area. Able to cook at home or walk to the coffee shop, watch the sunset from the hammock or throw open a garage door to cool down from the afternoon sun. We loved the abundance of fascinating art and decor and got good nights sleep in the comfortable beds. Highly recommended.
Love this place. It has a wonderful feel. It’s surround by beautiful scenery. We eat out, and we eat at home. Everything is 100% if I could change anything it would be upgrade the two twin mattress . They are like dorm mattresses. We bring extra bedding to help them.
We love the city of Marathon and regularly stay at the Gage. However for this trip we were hoping to have a place where our college student and their friends could swing by for meals and hanging out - in addition to somewhere for our family of 5 to sleep and live out of for a long weekend.
This property was perfectly suited and met all of our needs. We went into Marathon daily for snacks and then used this house as a base of operations for our visits to Alpine, Balmorhea, Big Bend, Sul Ross and BoquiOlas del Carmen. We saw quail running in the yardand had deer in the front daily.
This was a great place for my wife and I and our adult children to stay for a visit to Big Bend. It is very quiet and offers a great view of desert scenery, distant mountains, and endless stars. The decor is fun and artsy. The open concept still allows for sufficient privacy. We would love to come back..
The home was very comfortable and well-equipped. I spent every day hiking in Big Bend, so I was away most of the day except for evenings. I’m sure that many people opt to camp or find lodging in the park because of the distance (it’s 40 miles to the park entrance, and another 30 miles to the Panther Junction visitor center) but I didn’t mind the drive, and I knew that beforehand.
If you’re from any large, polluted city, you will be amazed by the number of stars that can be seen on a clear night. The only light pollution is from homes and businesses around town, so it’s otherwise pretty dark (slow down and be careful driving on HWY 90 at night - animals might be in the road).
Being from the upper Texas coast, the dry air and cool mornings were refreshing. I can’t spend more than 30 seconds outside this time of year at home without sweating. They have doors you can open to let in the fresh air, but I opted not to since the bugs were horrible, probably due to recent rain.
Overall, I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting the area as a home base for a trip to Big Bend or Marfa as long as you’re okay with driving to get to those places. Marathon has everything you need. Alternatively, if you’re just looking for a place to park on the couch and do nothing for a couple days, this would be a great option for that, too.
This was our second stay at Casa Wilma, so we knew what to expect - great location just past the Marathon motel, gorgeous views, funky interior decor with nice kitchen / dining / living room layout for entertaining. The rooms don't have walls that go all the way up to the ceilings so be prepared to hear everything in the whole house all the time. We knew this was the case so weren't put off by it, but still something to keep in mind for anyone looking for more privacy / sound-proofing.
