About this property
(45R) Yosemite National Park
Welcome to Camp Duke where you're sure to enjoy the quintessential mountain experience! This unique property sits at the end of a private lane, surrounded by National Park forest and a year-round creek, offering privacy, solitude, and unspoiled forest views with a glimpse of Wawona Dome (often illuminated by alpenglow in the evenings). Just a minute or two from Wawona's two markets, the Wawona Hotel, and multiple trailheads, this charming log cabin compound is perfect for romantic weekends, family gatherings, or small corporate retreats.
Camp Duke consists of the original log cabin featuring two queen bedrooms, one full bathroom, a well-appointed kitchen with brand-new, top-of-the-line appliances (including a dishwasher and freezer with ice maker), the original river-stone wood-burning fireplace, and a pullout couch.
In addition to the main cabin, the property includes:
- A separate studio with a king-size bed positioned under skylights for stargazing, along with its own wood-burning stove, offering a private retreat separate from the main cabin.
- A modern, stand-alone bathhouse, designed to feel spa-like, featuring a large walk-in shower, beautiful redwood cathedral ceilings with skylights, and a full laundry area.
The large back deck of the main cabin provides a beautiful communal gathering space, complete with a canopy glider swing, ample seating, a generous dining table, a cedar hot tub, an outdoor fire pit, and a propane grill. Each structure has been thoughtfully and meticulously designed to provide both shared spaces for group enjoyment and quiet pockets of privacy for each guest.
3 Bedrooms – 2 Baths – Sleeps 6 – Single Level About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 110 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

What makes this property unique
What makes Camp Duke stand out is how it blends forest privacy with real convenience. Set at the end of a quiet lane and surrounded by National Park forest with a year round creek, it feels peaceful and tucked away while still being just a minute or two from Wawona’s markets, trailheads, and the historic Wawona Hotel.
Instead of a single cabin, Camp Duke is a small mountain compound. The main log cabin offers classic Yosemite charm, the separate studio gives guests a private space with skylights for stargazing, and the spa style bathhouse adds comfort you rarely find in a forest setting. This layout makes it easy to gather together and still enjoy personal space.
Evenings are a highlight here. Guests often relax in the cedar hot tub, watch alpenglow on Wawona Dome, or sit by the fire listening to the creek. Camp Duke is not just a place to stay. It is a place to slow down and truly experience Yosemite.
