About the host
Hosted by Heidi Brown
Michael and Heidi are your co-hosts. We’re a family-run team passionate about thoughtful hospitality, nature, and creating spaces where people can truly unwind. After years in hospitality, travel, and creative work, we fell in love with Red River Gorge for its beauty, energy, and sense of escape. We enjoy welcoming guests from all walks of life and helping them slow down, explore the outdoors, and feel genuinely cared for during their stay. Hosting allows us to blend comfort, creativity, and connection in a place we love.
Why they chose this property
Red River Gorge is a place where forest, stone, and quiet come together. Our neighborhood is peaceful and wooded, with winding roads, open pasture views, and the feeling of being truly tucked away—yet still close to hiking trails, climbing routes, Natural Bridge, and local favorites. What we love most is the balance: deep nature, dark skies, and stillness, paired with a strong creative and outdoor community that makes the Gorge feel welcoming and alive.
What makes this property unique
What sets The Retreat at High Rock apart is the sense of space, intention, and community. Spread across 13 wooded acres, the property blends cabins, canvas bell tents, and RV stays into a thoughtfully evolving retreat rather than a single rental. Shared gathering spaces, warm lighting, and amenities like fire pits and a communal hot tub invite connection, while private accommodations allow for solitude when you want it. It’s a place designed not just to stay—but to slow down, reset, and feel part of something unfolding.
