About the host
Hosted by Brittney Mospan
Hi, I’m Britt—your host and the heart behind this home. I grew up in Pittsburgh, where my idea of “the beach” as a kid meant Myrtle Beach trips: high-rise hotels, endless traffic, and waiting at least 45 minutes for dinner every night. And honestly? I loved it. But what I remember most is that first moment when we arrived—the smell of salt in the air. That smell felt like pure magic.
Years later, I moved to North Carolina and eventually found my way to Holden Beach with a friend. Crossing the bridge, I was stunned by the beauty of the ocean and the intracoastal. No towering hotels. Just charming houses, quiet streets, bikes leaning against railings. We rode our bikes for ice cream, stayed at her family home with wood paneling everywhere, sat on the front porch looking out over the marsh, and had the most peaceful dinner on the water at Provisions. I remember thinking, Now this is my kind of beach.
That feeling is what I wanted to capture here. This isn’t a faceless rental—it’s a space I’ve curated with intention, warmth, and real-life comfort in mind. I poured an embarrassing amount of care into every detail because I know how much a getaway can mean. Whether you’re here to rest, reconnect, or just breathe differently for a few days, my goal is simple: I want you to feel at ease the moment you walk in. You deserve a place that feels authentically coastal—and that’s exactly what I hope this is for you.

Why they chose this property
I’m a mom, a lifelong beach girl, and someone who believes a place should feel good, not just look good. My family and I split our time between Raleigh and Holden Beach. We chose Holden for its family-friendly atmosphere, quiet, laid-back vibe, and the rare beauty of being tucked between the intracoastal waterway and the open ocean.
We spend our days riding bikes down Ocean Boulevard, kayaking through the canals, and adding to our ever-growing collections of shark teeth and sea biscuits. We chose the west end of Holden Beach because of its local feel—there are lots of full-time residents here, and they are truly the best neighbors in the world. People wave. They look out for one another. They love this little stretch of coast in a way that’s deep and real.
We also fell in love with Big Beach for its healthy dunes, lush vegetation, and that soft, dreamy sand that makes you slow down without trying. It’s wild in the gentlest way.

What makes this property unique
My first trip to Holden Beach was over 20 years ago. Thankfully, the soul of this place hasn’t changed much—it’s still peaceful, still family-oriented, still wonderfully unrushed. But driving down Ocean Boulevard now, I can’t help but notice how the look has evolved. More and more, the original beach cottages and bungalows have been replaced with larger, modern homes. I’ll never forget staying in that one-story house with wood paneling and a warm, nostalgic feel—the kind of place that instantly made you exhale.
So many families have been coming to Holden for generations, year after year. I wanted our home to honor that—to feel like the kind of authentic coastal beach house you might remember from childhood, or the kind locals still live in. While the inside has been thoughtfully updated, I hope that old-school beach vibe still comes through. I believe there’s nothing like the real thing.
I’ve also always loved the marsh. There’s something grounding about it—the stillness, the light, the way it changes throughout the day. One of the greatest things about this home is its location: direct views of the intracoastal waterway, and less than a five-minute walk to the beach. It’s the best of both worlds—sunrise over the marsh, sunset over the ocean.
