I split my time between my city home and the mountains of North Carolina, and this cabin has become a special place for our family to slow down and reconnect with nature. Living in a busy city most of the year makes the quiet, fresh mountain air here feel even more meaningful.

We purchased the cabin because we fell in love with the peaceful setting, the surrounding forests, and the easy access to outdoor adventures around Lake James and the Blue Ridge Mountains. When we’re here, we spend most of our time hiking, sitting around the fire pit, grilling on the deck, or simply enjoying coffee in the morning while looking out at the trees.

Hosting guests allows us to share this experience with others. Our goal is for everyone who stays here to feel the same sense of relaxation and escape that we do whenever we arrive.

Why they chose this property

This part of Nebo sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just minutes from Lake James, which makes it one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas in western North Carolina.

What we love most about the area is the balance between nature and accessibility. You feel completely surrounded by forest and mountain views, yet you’re only a short drive from some incredible destinations. Lake James State Park offers hiking, boating, and kayaking, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is close by for scenic drives and outdoor exploration.

For guests who enjoy charming mountain towns, you’re also within reach of places like Blowing Rock, Asheville, and Morganton, where you can explore local restaurants, breweries, and shops.

At the end of the day, though, the best part is coming back to the quiet of the cabin, sitting outside under the stars, and enjoying the calm that makes this part of North Carolina so special.

What makes this property unique

What makes this cabin special is the feeling of being immersed in nature while still enjoying the comfort and style of a thoughtfully designed home.

The large deck and outdoor living areas are where most guests spend their time. Whether you’re grilling dinner, relaxing around the fire pit, or enjoying a morning coffee surrounded by trees, the outdoor space creates a true mountain retreat experience.

Inside, the cabin is designed to feel warm, comfortable, and welcoming, making it ideal for couples, families, or small groups looking to unplug and spend quality time together.

Another unique aspect is the location. You’re close enough to explore Lake James, hiking trails, waterfalls, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, yet far enough away to enjoy real peace and quiet.

For many of our guests, the cabin becomes less about a place to stay and more about a place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
