Host was wonderful and easy to communicate with. We ran into some trouble with the toilet, and she was very responsive and had it fixed quickly. The apartment was comfortable and clean, the location was wonderful. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!
I stayed 11 nights in this midtown apartment. It was reasonably clean, fairly spacious, had good light, a comfortable bed and was located perfectly with a three block walk to Grand Central Station or buses on first and 2nd Ave. The problems started the first morning when I had no hot water and same thing again on two other mornings. I had to proceed through my day with no shower. But more annoyingly, the first day the toilet was backed up and required plunging. The management was quite responsive in their replies to my text messages but there was never any follow-through. The toilet issue was never addressed. For 11 days I had to plunge poop daily. I reported the toilet malfunctioning every single day, and was told that it would be taken care of, and it was NEVER taken care of. I told the management this was unacceptable and requested a 10% refund which they ignored. Great apartment and management had good intentions, but could never deliver on any remedy to the problem. It’s not enough to hope that the problem gets better. You actually have to make sure it gets done.
We stayed here for a week and, overall, had a good experience. The biggest strength of this apartment is the location. It's in Midtown on a relatively quiet street, within easy walking distance of Grand Central Terminal and many of the attractions first-time visitors to New York want to see.My biggest advice to future guests is to manage your expectations. This is true Manhattan living, not hotel-style accommodations. In many ways, that's part of the adventure. If you've ever wondered what it's like to stay in an actual Manhattan apartment rather than a hotel, this provides a pretty authentic experience. The apartment is small, older, and somewhat worn, which was generally in line with our expectations for the price and location. There are a few maintenance issues that could use attention. The shower is VERY temperamental, & the kitchen faucet was broken during our stay.We had 4 adults in our group and made it work, but I would not count on the futon comfortably sleeping two adults. It's barely suitable for one person. To the hosts' credit, they promptly provided an inflatable mattress which helped considerably.Overall, I feel the hosts are doing the best they can with the space they have. If you're looking for a modern, spacious apartment with hotel-level conveniences, this probably isn't the right fit. If you're looking for a well-located home base and are interested in experiencing a slice of everyday Manhattan life, you'll likely enjoy your stay.
