Such an awesome place! Had to book another night because we just couldn't leave after getting 5" of snow overnight. Loved the hot tub after a long day of skiing! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to getaway up North! Great communication with host as well!

About the host
Hosted by Dean Rossey Jr
Our family of five first discovered the magic of Blackjack and Indianhead Mountains back in 2016. From the very first trip, we were hooked—the snow, the scenery, the sense of escape. We knew right away this place was special.
It wasn’t long before we realized we wanted more than just a vacation spot—we wanted a place that truly felt like home. A place we could return to time and again, filled with warmth, comfort, and memories in the making.
That’s when we decided to purchase a home in the area. It was important to us to find a space that not only met our needs today but could grow with us and continue to be a source of joy for our kids as they get older.
Trailside Retreat isn’t just a getaway—it’s a part of our family story, and we hope it becomes part of yours too.
Why they chose this property
From the moment we discovered this property, the location stood out. Situated in a quiet, convenient neighborhood with immediate access to everything Wakefield is known for—snowmobiling in the winter, ATV riding in the summer, and outdoor adventure year-round—it checked every box.
The home itself had the right bones and the right setting. We could immediately see how a few intentional upgrades—enhanced interior finishes, a new deck, and a relaxing hot tub—would elevate the experience while still fitting naturally into the neighborhood.
As a licensed contractor, I look beyond what a property is and focus on what it can become. This neighborhood felt like the perfect place to invest that level of care and craftsmanship. Our goal is simple: continue improving the home over time so guests can enjoy a space that’s comfortable, well-built, and thoughtfully maintained—today and for years to come.
What makes this property unique
This isn’t a cookie-cutter rental—it’s a thoughtfully crafted home. What truly sets our property apart is the level of care and craftsmanship throughout, including the handcrafted wood countertops built by the owner. Every detail was chosen with intention, combining durability, comfort, and a warm, inviting design you can feel the moment you walk in.
The layout is ideal for travelers, with private bedroom and bathroom suites that give guests both comfort and privacy. Add in a cozy gas fireplace, a relaxing outdoor hot tub, and year-round climate control, and you have a space that’s just as enjoyable after a long day on the trails as it is for a quiet night in.
Location matters too. Being just one block from the snowmobile trail—and close to ATV access in the summer—means you can ride straight from the house without the hassle of trailering. It’s the kind of convenience outdoor enthusiasts appreciate immediately.
Above all, this home is continually improving. As a licensed contractor, the owner is always refining and upgrading the space, ensuring it’s not just well maintained, but consistently getting better. It’s a place built to be enjoyed, respected, and remembered.
