About this property
Pet Friendly Quiet Cottage; 1/2 mi to Lambert's Cove Beach
We’re happy to consider pets —please inquire before booking
This well kept cottage takes you back to Vineyard yester-years when people came to the island to get away to the simpler life leaving the frills behind to commune with nature and leave the rush of modern day living away across the waters. If you are looking for a sweet, unadorned, no granite counter-top experience, come to this homey, restful, private cottage.
The walk to Lambert's Cove Beach is about a half a mile away and Uncle Seth's Pond about a mile. Lounge on the screen porch with a book, a glass of wine, or good company. Kick your shoes off and walk barefoot. Listen and watch the birds around you and enjoy the island breeze with the trees rustling around you.
This 3 bedroom cottage sleeps 6 people. One of the bedrooms is on the first floor with a double bed (and the combo washer/dryer). On the second floor is the Green Room, containing 2 twin beds, another bedroom (the Blue Room) with a queen bed, and the bathroom, including tub and shower.
The on-site washer/dryer combo adds convenience to your stay. Recent updates include all new electrical, updated lighting, and newly painted first floor. There are window air conditioners and a portable air conditioner provided along with other amenities such as a TV/DVD player, internet & wi-fi, cable tv and an outside shower. Enjoy a quiet stay in the country while still being only 10 minutes from town (Vineyard Haven) where you can go to restaurants, shopping, get an ice cream cone, walk along the pier or go mini-golfing. Head up-island to Alley's General Store, the West Tisbury Library, Polly Hill Arboretum, and so many more wonderful and unique Island sites like the West Tisbury Farmer's Market, Menemsha, and the Gay Head cliffs.
This is a well loved summer cottage that has been in the family for over 65 years. Part of the house was once an up-island blacksmith shop and then moved to Lambert's Cove where it was expanded

About the host
Hosted by Susan
Welcome to our summer home. We hope you have a pleasant visit while on the Island. Our family’s history on the Vineyard goes back to the 1920’s, when our grandfather was the pastor of the Island Methodist Churches. Out of deep affection for Martha’s Vineyard, the Rev. James Harlow Graham and his wife, Susie Bell, purchased a parcel of land during the 1920s in Lambert’s Cove. They negotiated relocation of Tut Chase’s blacksmith shop from the Middletown area of West Tisbury to the land, with the dream of converting it to a summer residence. Although the Reverend Graham was called off-Island in the 1930’s, he returned back in the ‘40’s when the Graham family resided in the parsonage near the Methodist Camp Meeting Association Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs. Reverend Graham and Susie Bell then realized their dream of expanding the blacksmith shop into a summer house, which they named Grahaven. Grahaven has been a beloved place for our family ever since. To this day, Grahaven has retained its original character while trying to keep up with modern needs and tastes. We hope you will experience the magic here, as we do.
