About this property

Gorgeous South Hero Lakefront Sanctuary on Lake Champlain

This home, known as The Hive, was built in 2020 on the east shores of South Hero in Paradise Bay. In August 2026 this property was awarded the Lake Wise Award for Lake Friendly Living from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.

The master suite is simply stunning and found on the second floor with sweeping views of Lake Champlain. Sunrises are breathtaking at this home. Adjacent to the master suite, a Peloton bike and yoga mats are available for your use. On the main floor you will find two comfortable bedrooms to accommodate families, one with a Queen size bed and the other with a bunk bed. High quality bedding and fully equipped bathrooms with showers await you.

Two screened in porches provide ample opportunity for enjoyment of the outdoors in the spring, summer, and fall months. Spend your morning sipping coffee or reading a book on one of these spectacular screened in porches, or sunbath on the upstairs panoramic deck.

Walk out onto the dock and enjoy a swim or take the double kayak available on the property, or rent your own kayaks nearby. The outdoor space is also available for your enjoyment, including a gas bbq. Beach gear is provided for your use at any of the local beaches, including the nearby Sand Bar State Park, just a couple of miles away.

Cook at home in the fully appointed kitchen, or venture out onto the Lake Champlain islands to try some of the tasty island cuisine offered at many of the local restaurants and food trucks (in the summer months). Stop by Hero's Welcome in North Hero for some amazing sandwiches and local crafts and souvenirs. Use The Hive in South Hero for your home base if you want to venture to Burlington which is only 25 minutes away by car or other parts of Vermont during your stay. The Hive is about 35 miles from the Canadian border and about 85 miles from downtown Montreal.

If you are looking for a place to call home away from home that is simply in a league of its own, look no further. The Hive is ideally suited for families or groups of no more than 6 people. Like many homes in this area, this home operates on a septic system so it is incredibly important not to overload with more than 6 people at one time.

Please note, the home is situated at the base of a 50 foot driveway that has been recently paved. There is plenty of parking for two cars, but it is highly recommended you have AWD although paving has made it much easier for all types of vehicles.

This property is gorgeous, well maintained, clean, and is truly a home away from home! The house was perfectly described and so much more! One needs to stay here to feel the calm and relaxing environment. Stunning views but the sunrise shouldn't be missed. The furniture from the living room to the beds are excellent. The towels and bed linens were high quality. This was one of the best properties we have ever stayed at. Emily is an outstanding host and prior to our stay, she was very responsive to my questions. I highly recommend this property.

This is just as advertised! The feeling as you pull up is home! Every detail was thought of: full kitchen, bathroom amenities and complementary eye masks! The views on all three decks are stunning! The beds were so cozy! Only a few minutes to the trail head that takes you to the causeway and what a bike trail it is! Burlington is a short drive but far enough you can disconnect with everything but that beautiful lake!

The write up does not do this property justice. The only thing that could is to spend a few days there. The setting is idyllic, the accommodations are impeccable and everything you need to make yourself "at home" is on site. Sunrise over the lake is not to be missed. Rent this home! We cannot wait to return!

This property was everything we wanted it to be. Peaceful, private, beautifully decorated, well-appointed...from the fully equipped kitchen to the soft, spacious beds to the (included) kayak to the stocked game cabinet and comfy tv recliners, we had everything we needed for a perfect week by the lake. Our teenagers were excited about skipping rocks in 2026 - it's quiet in the best way. We had a fantastic time - highly recommend

This was the perfect lake house for our family of five. The lake views from the house were stunning, with multiple vantage points. The screened in porches were great for reading and morning coffee. It was very clean and well appointed. The host was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed the kayak and other water related accessories provided. There were noodles, inflatable seats, life vests and beach chairs. The location provides seclusion while remaining accessible to the mainland and island activities.

We had a great stay! Everything was very clean and comfortable and the host was very responsive. Beds were soft, bathrooms were very modern, and the kitchen was well stocked. The screened in porches were appreciated too, as it allowed us to keep the porch doors open to feel the warm summer night air. The beach towels, floaties, life jackets and kayaks were a great addition being on the water. Given the sharp rocky shoreline, be sure to bring sandals or water shoes to avoid cutting your feet. We stayed for a week and enjoyed easy access to downtown Burlington, Stowe, Shelburne and of course South Hero Island! We'd definitely stay here again.

The pictures and description of this house were great, but being there was so much more. Emily was very responsive and helpful whenever I reached out, and she made our arrival totally easy. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived, and the whole place is designed with high-end, elegant details and non-stop views. It was incredibly well-equipped, comfortable, and spacious. We were just blown away, start to finish. Mornings on the upper porch with coffee were spectacular every day. We’d watch the sunrise and count how many different birds we could name. An osprey, herons, a very friendly couple of cardinals, and chickadees were regulars. We played in the lake each day, and our grandchildren were sooooo happy with the bunk beds. S’mores at the firepit topped off each day. It was just heavenly. We absolutely hope to come back.

We just spent a wonderful weekend at The Hive in South Hero, and the photos truly don’t capture how beautiful and special this property is. It feels peaceful and private while still being minutes from everything you need. We rarely saw another car or neighbor—just incredible lake views, quiet mornings, and time to truly unwind. The screened porches quickly became our favorite spots for morning coffee and evening wine while taking in the panoramic lake views. Thoughtful touches throughout the home—from ceiling fans and AC to beautiful furnishings and cozy gathering spaces— the beautifully renovated interior and lovingly cared-for grounds made everything feel at ease. The home is designed for relaxing and reconnecting or simply for watching m the water and hearing the birds. Waking up in the primary bedroom and seeing the sunrise over the sparkling water through the large glass deck doors was incredible. The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, the bathrooms are gorgeous and stocked with locally crafted products, and the beds are comfy made with soft bedding (we are picky bed people!).A practical note: bring water shoes if you plan to swim or kayak—the shoreline is naturally rocky rather than sandy. We loved sitting on the dock and the nearby public beaches when we wanted a sandy spot. This magical place drew us in more each day. We left feeling rested, grateful, and wishing we had stayed a week or more. A truly special getaway—we can’t wait to return! Thank you

Wow, the sunrise across the lake with the fall colors was absolutely breathtaking! This was an incredible find, and I cant recommend it highly enough. There are two screened in porch areas and a deck to enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake Champlain. The kitchen is stocked with nice cooking equipment that was clean and well taken care of. The cabinets had all the essentials like oil, spices, coffee filters, soaps, etc. The house was clean. The check in and check out process was very simple. Emily was a great communicator and a great host. We hope to be back again!

I grew up in northern Vermont and moved back in 2024 after 20+ years in the San Francisco Bay Area. I felt called to return to my roots to raise my elementary school-aged daughter. We were all craving a change of pace, and there is nothing like season change in New England to shake things up! Since I was young, I always dreamed of having a home on Lake Champlain, and The Hive is a dream come true. When we are not enjoying it ourselves, we love to share our home with others. We live locally in Burlington and we are available to assist our guests as needed.

Why they chose this property

This is simply one of the most stunning areas in the Lake Champlain Islands. The sunrises on Paradise Bay are spectacular. There is nothing like watching the birds migrate south in the Fall and the boaters enjoying the bay all summer long.

What makes this property unique

This is a brand new seasonal property built in 2020 including modern state of the art features. This house is truly in a league of its own. The second floor screened in porch has an adjacent deck with lounging chairs that is simply breathtaking. This home can easily be a place to rest and relax in its own right or venture out to see what the rest of the islands or nearby Burlington have to offer. The Hive's central location makes it easy to get to Montreal, Burlington, or other Northern Vermont attractions.
