I stayed at this VRBO over Memorial Day weekend and overall had a very positive experience. For my purposes, the location was excellent — very close to Elmwood Park and downtown Roanoke. The neighborhood felt reasonably safe, and I parked on the street the entire stay without issues. The house has the quirky charm and personality of an older home, including some uneven floors that honestly didn’t bother me at all. That said, older guests or anyone with mobility concerns should know there are several floor transitions and a very steep, narrow staircase upstairs. The theater room was a great surprise with surround sound, projection screen, blackout setup, recliners, and even a small fridge. I watched a couple movies there and really enjoyed it.The downstairs bedroom was comfortable, and the kitchen, while minimally stocked, had everything I needed. A few small improvements could make the stay even better: brighter lighting, a simple arrival/check-out instruction sheet, and slightly larger bath towels. It also took me a bit to locate the thermostat because the old disconnected control in the living room initially threw me off.Once I connected with Jim directly, communication was excellent. He was responsive, and appreciative. Overall, I’d rate this place about a 4.5/5. If you enjoy older homes with character and want a convenient location near downtown Roanoke, this is a solid choice.
