Absolutely unacceptable experience at Barefoot Cottages.We arrived to check in last night only to find our unit was already occupied by the owner. The situation quickly turned alarming — the owner believed someone was attempting to break in and made it clear he was prepared to defend his property. From our perspective, we were unknowingly placed in a situation where we did not feel safe at all, and frankly, it could have ended very badly.Instead of immediate help, we were left sitting in the parking lot for over an hour at 11 PM while the management company kept us on the phone with no real resolution. They eventually agreed to cancel the reservation — but then failed to actually process the cancellation, leaving us to deal with the mess through VRBO ourselves.So to summarize:- Our assigned unit was occupied.- We were put in a potentially dangerous situation.- We were left stranded late at night.- Management wasted our time and failed to follow through.The entire night was a nightmare. The lack of urgency, accountability, and basic guest safety is completely unacceptable. If this is how situations are handled, I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here.Guest safety and competent management should be the bare minimum — unfortunately, neither was provided.
