For the price of the stay, they could have at least had Wi-Fi and little bottles of shampoo and body wash and a place to store the trash when leaving

When I saw this house, I offered to lead my three sisters, age 65 to 73, stay at my house and I stay there instead. “Spooky” what was the first word out of anyone’s mouth. The driveway wasn’t marked, the lawn was knee-deep, and there were two abandoned vehicles, one a huge camper we weren’t all that sure was unoccupied in the lot and one of them had two dead trees hanging over it that appeared about ready to fall. A torn up dog kennel was behind the house on the other side. The stair rail was wrapped with Christmas lights that someone got poked into their hand right away, and it wiggled. The house indoors was clean and well furnished, although one of the beds was 6 inches off the floor and the other was in an open space where there were no doors. None of the rooms had curtains, including the bedrooms. There were four towels for four adults for two days. The clothes dryer lint filter was jammed with clogs that one sister removed. But it still took over two hours to dry a pair of jeans. There was no Wi-Fi but to be honest, I don’t know if it said in the ad that there was no Wi-Fi.To be honest, this house could be a great rental if the owners would clean up the lot and maybe paint the porch and railing. One of my sisters did ask if I could offer to do the mowing every month and get a free day so if they came back next summer and they could stay there under better circumstances. Um, I don’t do yard work. But 500 for two days under those conditions was ridiculous.

Response from VrboOwner on 20 August 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the house clean and well furnished, but we’re sorry that several aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We do want to clarify a few points for future guests. In response to prior guest feedback, blackout curtains were installed on June 23, before your stay, so the bedrooms now have curtains for privacy and light control. There were also two towels provided in each of the two bathrooms, along with additional towels available in the linen closet. Detailed directions for locating and accessing the property were provided in the pre-arrival information. We understand that finding an unfamiliar property can sometimes be challenging, and we continually work to make those instructions as clear as possible. Regarding the dryer, we were not aware that there was an issue during your stay. Had we been contacted, we would have been happy to address the lint filter and investigate the drying time while you were there. The same applies to any other concern that may arise. Our pre-arrival messaging specifically asks guests to reach out to the host during their stay if they have questions, encounter an issue, or need anything. Doing so gives us the opportunity to respond and resolve concerns in real time rather than learning about them after departure. We appreciate the feedback regarding the exterior of the property, We take guest comments seriously and will continue to evaluate and make improvements.

The house was great for us, the only negative thing I could say was there was no blinds. It made it hard to sleep in our Alaska summers. House was clean, kitchen well stocked, and great location.

The property was exactly like described in the ad. Clean , very nice inside. Would definitely stay there again if I had one complaint, it would only be that the address wasn’t visible from the street and kinda hard to find.
