About this property
Familienzimmer mit Dusche/badewanne/wc auf der Etage
The language guesthouse is located in Oberrotweil, the main town of the wine-growing town of Vogtsburg, in the heart of the "Kaiserstuhl" wine-growing and recreational region. It consists of two buildings: a renovated historic building (the Alte Winzerhaus) and a new building (the B&B guesthouse) constructed on the site of the former barn at the back of the courtyard. Both buildings are just a few metres apart and are connected on the ground floor by a large balcony. Breakfast is served on the balcony in the summer. Between the buildings is a courtyard filled with numerous potted and tub plants, where guests of the holiday rental have their outdoor seating area. The nearest restaurant is 200 m away, the nearest bakery 200 m, the nearest supermarket 200 m, the nearest church (Catholic) 200 m, and the nearest train station 500 m from the language guesthouse. A two-minute walk takes you to the vineyards. The Oberrotweil swimming pool is one kilometre away, the Burgheim swimming lake is 4 km away, the Rhine is 3 km away, and the Black Forest is 25 km away. Larger cities in the region include Breisach am Rhein (9 km), Freiburg im Breisgau (25 km), Colmar (France/25 km), Strasbourg (France/70 km), and Basel (Switzerland/70 km). With the Konus guest card, which all guests receive upon paying their visitor’s tax, you can explore the entire Black Forest and the Upper Rhine region by public transport at no additional cost. The Kaiserstuhl is a small mountain range (an extinct volcano) that rises in the middle of the Upper Rhine Plain in the picturesque Breisgau region. The Breisgau—and especially the Kaiserstuhl—is the warmest region in Germany. Not only do grapevines grow here, but also cherries, strawberries, peaches, apricots, almonds, and figs, as well as asparagus in the spring. Not all of the guests who visit the language guesthouse have heard of the Kaiserstuhl, and many who come here for the first time are surprised by the scenic charm of this small mountain range. Yet the Kaiserstuhl certainly has a reputation that extends beyond local borders: it owes this to the unique features of its natural landscape, the friendly openness of its residents, and, of course, its excellent white and red Burgundy wines and its delicious cuisine, which pairs perfectly with them. Many love it and visit time and again. The cultural and economic centre of the Breisgau region is Freiburg (220 000, residents), home to a university founded in 1455 that is one of the oldest in Germany. Freiburg’s landmark is the Gothic cathedral, whose 116-meter-high tower has been hailed as “the most beautiful tower in Christendom,” and the picturesque Old Town with its narrow alleys and the typical Freiburg “Bächle” (water channels). The entire Breisgau region offers a wealth of recreational opportunities and enjoys an excellent reputation among visitors from both Germany and abroad. The Rhine invites you to take boat trips, while the old Rhine channels and lakes are perfect for boating, water sports, and swimming; the Black Forest is ideal for winter sports. Almost everywhere, you can hike and bike, enjoy good food, and savour Baden wine. And you can easily reach numerous other attractive destinations in Germany, France, and Switzerland in a single day. In addition to offering guests a “holiday like a visit with good friends,” the language guesthouse also gives them the chance to discover their creative side with a scroll saw—a 3-hour introductory course is available for just 24 EUR per person. International guests who are interested can receive a free trial lesson in “German as a Foreign Language.” By the way, communicating with the hostess is never a problem: in addition to German, she speaks fluent English, Russian (not perfectly, but sufficiently), and some rusty French—and if necessary, we’ll communicate with gestures.
Attic (2nd floor), hardwood floors, a spacious, bright room with 3 skylights. 2 separate beds and a daybed that pulls out into a double bed (not a couch!) (sleeping area 160 x 200, 2 mattresses); hexagonal table with chairs, bathroom (shower, bathtub, 2 sinks, toilet) on the same floor (2 steps down the hallway). The room has proven ideal as short-term accommodation (1–4 days) for families with 1–3 children or as a holiday home for 2–3 adults. An extra bed (air mattress, 1.00 x 2.00 m) and a cot (0.60 x 1.20 m) are available.
On the ground floor, there is also a large kitchen/dining room with a table for

Bed and Breakfast wunderbar.
