The Shady Roost | Cozy Cabin w/ Hot Tub & Fire Pit

Tucked away in Southern Illinois just outside Cave-In-Rock, The Shady Roost is a private A-frame retreat designed for slowing down and reconnecting --- with nature, with the people you love, and with yourself.



Surrounded by the beauty of The Shawnee National Forest, you'll find the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.  Spend your days exploring scenic hiking trails, waterfalls, and charming small towns, then return to your own peaceful hideaway to soak in the hot tub, gather around the fire, or simply enjoy the quiet beneath the trees. 

Whether you're celebrating something special, escaping the routine, or just craving a place where time moves a little slower, The Shady Roost offers a cozy, thoughtfully designed space that feels both secluded and welcoming.

A rental agreement must be accepted prior to receiving access to the property. 

Check-in is after 3 pm. Check-out is before 11 am.

No Pets Allowed

No Smoking Allowed. If there is evidence of smoking within the unit you will be charged an additional cleaning fee

Inventory: We provide a "starter package" of inventory including toilet paper and paper towels. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and a few basic supplies including salt, pepper, a few spices, cooking oil.

Keurig Coffee maker is supplied with a small complimentary assortment of coffees, creamers, and sugars; guests are responsible for providing their own groceries and supplies.



We do have 1 outdoor security camera.  It is located on the tree near the drive/parking area and it is directed at the drive into the property.  This is to ensure our guests' safety and the security of our property.
