Lovely place to stay! Clean, well stocked, very modern amenities we appreciated, and the surrounding area and nature were beautiful, peaceful, and private! The only minor downside was the boards in the boardwalk were just spaced out enough to make it difficult for our pup to walk on throughout the nice trails, but there was also plenty of plain trail for him to walk around and explore just fine!

We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay and were able to relax down at the lake and explore the wetland trails. The 2.5" spacing between slats on the boardwalks was required by the WA Dept of Ecology and the Army Corps of Engineers as part of the permitting process, to limit shading impacts on understory plants. They originally wanted even wider spacing, but we were able to avoid that by increasing the number of cedar trees we were required to plant (to correct a previous poorly-managed clear cut of the wetland several decades ago) to 150 trees. The boardwalk did wind up being a highly-regulated structure, but worth the effort. We're glad you were able to enjoy it as well as the indoor amenities. We hope to see you again, soon!

Wonderfully modern and enchanting

This was the perfect getaway place for us. Nestled is a forrested area yet incredibly close to everything. The home had everything you need in a vacation rental. I'll be coming back again.

Overall excellent place, convenient, close to town but also secluded. Nice features. Beautiful surroundings. Needs curtains or blinds in the front room maybe a full length mirror, would be nice

We're thrilled you enjoyed your brief stay with us and found the cottage comfortable and conveniently located near the friends you were visiting. We hope to see you again for a longer visit where you can take advantage of what the property has to offer, such as the lakefront deck, wetland trails, secluded back patio dining, and large stone fire pit. The large glass French doors and windows lining both exterior walls of the living room are intended to showcase the dense wetland forest just outside, which extends for over half a mile west of the cottage and is filled with deer, coyotes, rabbits, and owls -- but no neighbors! The forests and waterfront are the highlight of this $2.1M property and the reason the cottage was designed with two walls of windows to feature them. Thank you for pointing them out to future guests, as our cottage may not be the right fit for guests with a similar phobia of the forest. Of course, the bedroom and bathroom have full privacy room-darkening shades and curtains, as you noted. And we appreciate the feedback regarding a full length mirror -- we thought the large mirror in the bedroom served that purpose, as it extends from head to knees, but we will certainly take a second look to see if there is an appropriate location for a mirror which would also show your shoes. Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to see you again soon!

We loved how adorable and cozy this place was. The surrounding wetland is lovely . Only one small suggestion: please consider using unscented garbage bags. I rated the info provided slightly lower because it wasn't clear that there was an RV spot and so close to the house. Thank you again

We're so glad that you enjoyed yourselves and were able to explore the trails and lake -- they are so peaceful and secluded. We want to be clear for future guests that there is NOT an RV site. There WAS a single RV site for rent on the next acre (100' from the cottage) during the two years the cottage/septic/well were under construction, but the location where the RV would park is slated for construction of a 3-bed home this winter. We've removed the signage following the last guest to mention this, but perhaps we've overlooked something secondary to acclimation. We'll take a second look. At any rate, the location is now staked for the future foundation, so it should be clear it no longer operates. We appreciate the feedback re: the garbage bags -- they were an errant purchase secondary to letting my husband do the shopping unsupervised! Thank you again for staying with us!

What a great little gem I stumbled upon for a one night getaway. The house is very modern and was absolutely immaculate! The owners have put a lot of thought into their guests' (and accompanying pet's) comfort and it shows. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the outdoor patio was a perfect place to relax and watch the impromptu summer rainstorm roll in. Very private, especially due to the fact that the RV lot in front of the house was not booked. Even if it would have been, the house and outdoor area in back are secluded enough I wouldn't have been impacted. Would definitely recommend.

We're thrilled you enjoyed the secluded patio -- and the unusual summer storm! Hopefully you were able to squeeze in a walk to the lake for complete solitude -- just you and the wildlife down there! We completed construction of the cottage this spring and have just opened it up to rentals this summer -- we have noticed some concern from cottage guests re: the RV rental spot. We have actually completed our final RV rental this month, as we plan to break ground in October for building the main home on the parcel over the RV spot. In defense of our former RV guests, they were typically owners of high-value RV's who did not want to rent a spot in a commercial RV park. But as of late July, cottage guests now have the property completely to themselves. Thank you for the kind review, and we hope to see you again, soon.

Next time I'll bring my kayak!

Fantastic cottage with everything you could possibly need while on vacation, everything new and in great condition. I didn’t realize that the property was so large – acres of trails with private picnic areas and a private dock. There are no other homes down there -- I spent the afternoon reading by the water and was only interrupted by a single kayaker. This was just a one night stop-over but it would have been great to spend another day kayaking the lake – the owner even offered to let me borrow his kayak. My only suggestion is that they add a hot tub – then I could honestly spend days here. But I will definitely stay again next time I’m in the area.

Peaceful Private ADU Retreat Surrounded by Nature

We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful ADU retreat. The setting feels private, quiet, and surrounded by nature, while still being easy to access. The space was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The cottage has a cozy feel, great natural surroundings, and the kind of privacy that makes it easy to unwind. We especially enjoyed the forested setting, the quiet mornings, and being able to come back to a comfortable place after exploring the area. Communication was smooth, check-in was easy, and the property felt well cared for. A great choice for anyone looking for a quiet, private getaway near Shelton with a more natural, peaceful feel than a typical rental. We would happily stay again.

Peaceful Solo Getaway

I had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful woodland retreat. Traveling solo, I was looking for somewhere peaceful and relaxing, and this place was exactly that. The home was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed with so many little touches that made it feel welcoming. The California king bed was incredibly comfortable, and I loved coming back after a day of exploring to unwind in the spa-like shower and relax by the fireplace. The outdoor space was my favorite part — having coffee on the patio in the morning, walking the private trails, and spending time by the creek felt so peaceful and rejuvenating. I also appreciated how safe and private everything felt, along with the easy self check-in and reliable WiFi. The location was perfect for exploring the surrounding area while still feeling tucked away in nature. This was the perfect place to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy some quiet time. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful solo escape.
