The cabin was beautiful and in a perfect location, but there are definitely needed improvements. We could tell the cabin was new, but it still needed some more cleaning and improvements. There were dead bugs in the stairwells, a very loud, constant, high-pitched sound that we could never figure out where it was coming from. The sound was really loud in the kitchen, but could be heard in some bedrooms. This would have to be my biggest complaint. It became very annoying as the week went on. The pool was not clean when we first arrived, but when we contacted the number given to us, a pool person came and had the pool cleaned, and ready to swim in no time. The baseboards throughout the house were very dusty and dirty, and there was some hair from a past guest in the bathrooms. In the bedroom with the bunk beds, the door would not close because the bed was too big and blocked the door from closing. In the bedroom I stayed in, the bathroom door would not close because the door was too big for the door frame. So it felt like there was little privacy while using the restroom or showering. We did enjoy our stay and were looking to come back, but the price was way too high, and I would not stay again for the price that it is now listed for.

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the maintenance items these have been handled. We slightly moved the bunk bed and we repositioned the bathroom door so both would close. The whistle that you heard was coming from style of hvac vents that were used. The sound was VERY faint for everyone that tried to find this but we had one person that could locate the issue. Our housekeeping team has been given some additional notes to ensure the best possible experience.
Love this place! However, the woods along the drive is a place for many bears! I was face to face with a black bear! Not only did he invade my car, he attempted to open the car doors nightly! They showed up daily. Make sure you lock UP! We felt we had to be home before sunset daily, so our daily outings were cut short. I had a hard time relaxing. But this rental is top notch inside!

We’re happy you loved the place and found it “top notch” inside and hate that your rating was pulled back due to nature! Black bears are part of the Smoky Mountain experience, and some clearly take their role as curious neighbors very seriously. Keeping vehicles locked and completely free of food, wrappers, and scented items is always important. Maybe one day we’ll be able to control those pesky bears and their visiting hours—but until then, they’ll continue making their own schedules!
