The Space:
Located between Shell Beach and Stengel Beach on the west side of Highway 1, this lovely Sea Ranch getaway offers classic Sea Ranch architecture with cedar walls and an open floorplan. You'll be near the Bluff Trail at this meadow home. The Sea Ranch Lodge is about five miles south, and the green of the Sea Ranch Golf Links is a four-mile drive north. Walk inside to a two-story living room. The artwork throughout the house is framed photographs of nature on the Sea Ranch, giving an authentic and organic feeling within the home. There's a sunken inglenook with a stone fireplace and a sheltered deck with a built-in table and benches for outdoor dining. Even when it is very windy outside, the sheltered deck offers warmth and remarkable calm from any wind. It is its own microclimate.
When it's mealtime, the kitchen is well-equipped with all major appliances, including a couple of different coffeemakers (with an espresso maker and grinder) and other gadgets like a blender and toaster. Just pick up some groceries at the nearby Surf Market in Gualala and fix up a feast!
This ocean meadow can showcases bedrooms which are equivalent main bedrooms - the main level bedroom with window seat and ocean views opens onto the expansive deck. The upper-level bedroom features a cedar cathedral ceiling, a corner desk, and breathtaking white water downcoast view. Both bedrooms have full baths. The loft is an open concept that includes a queen mattress on a raised platform and overlooks the main level. There is also a desk, flatscreen/Apple TV, and it is just down the hall from the upper main bedroom. The duvet comforters are new, very high quality down duvets as are the new down pillows. Except for the kitchen and loft with meadow views, the principal rooms and large deck all have superb ocean views.
The spacious attached garage features new industrial lighting and a long built-in wood plank table, ideal for work projects. In addition, several comfortable chairs and two market umbrellas can be found by the back door of the garage, next to the outdoor deck. Home features high-speed 1 Gbps Fiber Optic home network. The house works very well for a single guest, as a romantic getaway for a couple or two couples as the home offers equivalent bedroom suites, each on a separate level.

The size is absolutely perfect for our family of three - we loved all the special nooks and crannies, different sitting areas were each unique and my son tested them all! The meadow view is outstanding and you don't feel like anyone is looking in on you in the home, everyone's view seems very well positioned!

Glass House
One of the first Sea Ranch houses. Very authentic experience with beautiful meadow and ocean views. Nicely appointed.
The house is very comfortable, well-equipped and is set in a lovely location with gorgeous ocean views. The proximity to trails was perfect! The private deck is large and great for evening sunsets and the wildlife is amazing; deer, fox, bunnies (bear paw prints on our car one morning - don't keep food in your car!). Overall. We would return to this serene location.

Incredible vacation home
Quiet, with sweeping views of meadow and ocean. Great location within the communithy too. Less than 5 minutes to town, 5-7 minutes to the lodge. Centrally located. Stocked house..my friends love coffee (I am tea and found a holder to make a cup with my loose tea leaves!) and there is an entire cabinet dedicated to coffee making equipment. xxx Thi sis a 10 star out of 5.
As promised in description. We were very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay. Only recommendation is same I have for most places - we the technically challenged could figure out how to access the Apple TV or connect for Netflix. The regular tv was easily accessible. Recommend directions for each of the tv options:)

very relaxing but a little disappointed this time around.
We've stayed here before and really enjoy the property and home. Some small improvements would go along way to justify the price of the rental. Kitchen faucet needs repair; coffee maker takes about 30 minutes to brew a pot and drips all over the counter when poured (needs replacing by a basic Mr. Coffee). Some basics need to be added to the kitchen like a calendar for cooking pasta, saran wrap and foil for leftovers would be nice too. Old dining room chairs resulted in an unprovoked break while a guest was seated; thankfully our guest wasn't hurt.

Matthew, thank you for the review and for staying at The Glass House. We take feedback seriously as it allows us to improve our guests' experience. We can confirm that no issues were found with the kitchen faucet. We promptly replaced the coffee maker with a high-end Cuisinart Perfectemp model with stainless steel carafe. Furthermore, a colander for pasta has consistently been available on the top shelf in one of the kitchen cabinets, and we apologize if this was overlooked. The dining room chairs are of high-quality design, imported from Denmark, and were swiftly repaired following your stay. We appreciate you highlighting these areas and hope to see you again in the future!

Glass House
The Glass House is a great central location in The Sea Ranch, it's private and quiet with nice meadow and ocean views. It's a great size for 2 - 4 people, and well equipped. That said, what I did not like about it was the laminated signs posted everywhere with instructions. They made the place feel unrelaxing and not like a home away from home. For example, there's a sign at the livingroom sliding door saying to operate the blinds gently. The upstairs bathroom has one outside AND inside the shower saying to put the plastic curtain inside the tub and the other one outside the tub. They're on the refrigerator, the fireplace, etc. It would suffice to have the house rules and instructions in the binder, or in the welcome package. I've never rented a house with instructions everywhere and would not go back because of that. If this doesn't bother you, then it's otherwise a lovely place to stay. Just not relaxing for me.

The Glass House is the best!
Love the spectacular down coast view from almost every room. Love the private and sheltered walk out view deck, with built in dining area. The bed is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. And the furnishings are tasteful and beautiful. The ocean and the beach path are a one minute walk away; my favorite walk! The owner thoughtfully leaves many books and information about the area on the coffee table. I could not recommend The Glass House more!
The view was wonderful. The house was comfortable and cozy. It was perfect for two couples. The loft could have accommodated a couple of kids as well. The dining chairs were a little wobbly, so we used the built in benches. As others have mentioned, the lighting could be better as well. Not great ambient lighting and some of the task lighting was just way to bright - so hard to get the right lighting. Kitchen was fairly well provisioned, but would be nice to have a few more plates available.

Wonderful stay at the Glass House
My friends and I spent a wonderful and relaxing few days at the Glass House. The deck and the view are just amazing, and we loved how close we were to the bluff trail. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped with cookware, coffee pot, etc. Our only (minor) complaints were the fairly dim indoor lighting and the dishwasher, which threatened to tip over if both drawers were pulled out simultaneously. We would love to return!

Perfect stay- The Glass House at The Sea Ranch
So many things to love about this home! Gorgeous, sweeping unobstructed down coast views on both levels, classic Sea Ranch architecture with cedar interior, high ceilings and open floor plan, beautiful framed photography capturing Sea Ranch vignettes, very well appointed and tasteful furnishings and kitchen equipment, 2 master suites, state of the art ultra hi speed fiber optic internet, Sonos music, great selection of books and maps of Sea Ranch and environs such as the Anderson Valley for wine tasting, very comfortable beds and bedding, , cozy stone fireplace inglenook, and we especially loved the large, two level sheltered ocean view deck with built in seating with custom table and benches. It’s a gem, one could not ask for more!

Beautiful and well-equipped
The home is beautiful, and both cozy and roomy. Great views, and well-equipped!
We loved our stay at the Glass House. We could hear the ocean and enjoy the view. The built-ins and mid century furniture added to the magic of our stay. The only small issue: Pots and pans could be replaced, they very old.
Looking forward to returning.
Sea Ranch is such a special place and we are always trilled to find a vacation house during the thanksgiving week. To some The Glass House might seem dated but to us was a very pleasant house with a wonderful down coast view. The wild life was exciting - foxes, family of deer including a dominant buck, quail, barn owl, and grazing sheep - all within view of the deck. The kitchen appliances are great but one drawback would be the pots and pans which are not in the best of shape especially if your group likes to cook so bring your own.
The home is cozy and well located near the ocean and a beautiful cove within a few minutes stroll. The home would benefit greatly from an updated kitchen, kitchen utensils/accoutrements and bathrooms.

A real getaway.
House was a little dated, but comfortable and thoughtfully supplied. Main thing was the sound and sight of the ocean and the walks on the bluffs above.

Lovely home.
Very comfortable, with many cozy nooks to hang out in for reading, chatting, or having a cocktail and watching the wildlife amble by. Amenities were just right. We weren't lacking for anything, though it would have been great if the tennis courts had been open. The views along the hiking trails were stunning. I look forward to staying at the Glass House again!

Love me some Sea Ranch
Home was fantastic. Great views, nice a private, lots of space. It's the classic Sea Ranch home, which is what you want. Could use a little updating to the furniture/couches, but I honestly didn't spend more than 5 mins on them since I just wanted to be on the deck. Hope to be back soon.
